Kevin Harvick To RETIRE In 2023?! | Who Drives the 4 Car?

Over the last year or so the fate of Kevin Harvick’s retirement has been one of the biggest stories in NASCAR. Now though it seems that we may have a giant clue as to when that will be. Possibly after this season!!! Many are shocked, asking if “Kevin Harvick to retire in 2023?!” While others are asking “who drives the 4 car?”

What do you think of Kevin Harvick’s unofficial retirement? And who do you think should drive the 4 after him?

@Blizzard0812 as a Zane smith fan. I wouldn’t want him to go to SHR. But that’s the only young ford development driver I can think of. Unless you go out and snag someone from a current team like a Todd gilliland or a Harrison burton.

Honestly, Riley Herbst is a joke. He has terrible performances on the race track he is overrated he doesn’t even deserve to be in cup. That’s a good idea. Maybe Zane Smith if he skips the Xfinity series and comes straight to cup. Why not bring back Ryan Newman or Matt DiBenedetto?

Preece to the 4 Custer back to the 41.

I think it’s time. It’s sad, but it’s time. 23 years is how long Jeff Gordon raced in NASCAR for. Noah could replace him in the 4 unless the deal with LMC is a multi-year contract.

Would love to see a few drivers get the 4 imo

I agree with ya on Herbst, as he’s one of my picks for either the 4 or even the 10. My opinion has changed on Riley. I prefer him to Ty Gibbs out of the driver’s sponsored by Monster.

I think Custer takes over the 4 depending on how well he does in Xfinity this year. If not him, my next pick would be Zane Smith.

Zane Smith is a long term FRM driver.

Since 2001, Kevin has been my driver. Even after he left RCR, I stuck with him. Personally, if he retires, I’m okay with it. Let him enjoy these years when his children are young. I’m sure we’ll see him in the booth working for one of the TV companies. Let’s face it, he hasn’t really been tearing it up in the stats column lately. And you’re right, he hasn’t been “Happy” Harvick lately either.

Not surprising tbh, Harvick is 47 years old and I had a feeling the time for retirement was gonna come sooner or later. But that doesn’t change the fact that I’ll miss him in the sport. He’s definitely in the running for HOF in the future

@Michael Lawrence  I’m just saying, ok

Harvick is a future HOF driver with a storied career. I can definitely see Briscoe taking over the 4 to maybe open a few spots on SHR

I’ve been a diehard Kevin Harvick fan for years it’s definitely gonna be sad to see him go. But he’s earned it he’s definitely a first ballot hall of fame driver one of the greatest drivers of all time

Been a huge Harvick fan since 2001.. I’ll be sad to see him retire, I’ve figured this was the year for a bit now after he said he originally was gonna retire after 2021, and said he signed for 2 more years. But when you’ve won everything in nascar, both a cup and xfinity title, top 9 in Cup wins all time, Top 4 in Xfinity wins, Daytona 500, 3 Brickyard 400’s, 2 Coke 600, Clash/Shootout wins, 2 All Star wins.

We could have 3 big retirements this year with Harvick, Truex Jr., and Almirola. I believe Harvick and Truex are on the final year of their contracts and Almirola may or may not retire next year. 4 top tier rides may be open for 2024 if Hamlin/FedEx can’t work a deal out with JGR.

Based on what SHR is doing on the track last two years they need a experienced driver in that 4 car. Still shocked that they didn’t move heaven and earth to land Rowdy last year. It’s been proven time and time again you need experience not just youth

Here’s another question, does this mean that Rodney Childers is going to retire as well?

My incite on retirement. I retired in 2017, for the 3 years prior that and knowing what it was ahead was a struggle to stay focused on my job. I was in a business that was fast paced and changed by the hour for the last 35 years of my career. I can only imagine how hard it is for Harvick. He has had a HOF run and hate to see him go but think he will go to the booth for a number of years. Go Keelan and Pieper!

Stenhouse? Maybe Harvick buys a stake in JTG and Custer/Herbst get seats there and a second charter for the team while apart of that deal gives Stenhouse the 4

I think Tony and Gene are going to look for some seniority to put in the 4. People may laugh at this, but I think Ricky Stenhouse has a real shot to get the 4 or the 10. Tony likes him a lot, and I think with good equipment he can perform. He’s getting older and if he can show maturity with bringing more cars home, I’d like to see him in a competitive car again. I also look to see them go after Lajoie. Maybe because I’ma biased fan, but I really want to see Corey get a competitive car as well. All I can do is cross my fingers and write my senators though.
