Comparing the finish of the 2001 EA Sports 500 at Talladega to the 2023 Beef It's What's For Dinner race at Daytona. Both finishes saw a flip occur down the backstretch on the final lap.

Two different times and two different tracks
The more things change, the more they stay the same
2 insane finishes
i prefer the old format where they take a minute to digest what just happened, instead of jumping into an instant replay. like i understand that people want to see what happened and why, but let it sit for a second, lets see who was involved, lets see the drivers walk away, lets see the rest of the field come to the line. a slower place might benefit the broadcast
Makes it feel more significant.
Allen Bestwick-led broadcast booths are really good at that (listen to his other calls of plate races). Even with so much going on, they generally go with the “less is more approach” and go with less words and let the action speak for itself.
I like in those Dega broadcast when they cross the line and just stop at it as the cars pass don’t know why
I did one like this already. But it’s all good
