Well he does already know the car quite a bit. He’s part of the Corvette Racing team in IMSA, which is why Hendrick and Chevrolet chose him to be the main testing driver for their Garage 56 Le Mans car (even though he’s not going to be racing it in June). So he has a lot of testing miles behind a Cup car on a road course.
Plus, don’t forget that this will be the first race in years without stage breaks. No more predictable cautions means guys are going to be tested, endurance wise. And who has the most endurance race experience? Jordan Taylor, who has won both the 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans
