I agree, Gustafson has cost several wins with bad calls, and this was the worst…and he’s not consistently given Chase fast cars, and when Chase has a fast car at the beginning Gustafson doesn’t keep up with the track changing and Chase gets a bad finish.

@Pvt Donut I don’t think you can really call year number 2 a career year, he’s definitely got room for improvement and FRM looks like they’ll keep him around long term. I think he’s going to help build the 38 team to be an eventual contender

I don’t know the stats, but I think I’ve seen him up in the top 15 a lot this year.

The Next Gen is a road course car. But I think it also evened out the playing field because of the symmetrical body, lower HP., and IRS.

I expected him to be top ten in Q trim when he was fast at Indy and even Richmond in Q trim. Then the long run speed being off was more shocking,
