Thanks you first person who thinks like me
]]>@SmokeyMcHaggis 2003 the same yr for the Jarrett crash…
During the 2003 season, to increase safety for the drivers, NASCAR banned racing back to the yellow flag after the caution is displayed. While this has increased safety (safety crews can respond more quickly) the rule contains a special “beneficiary” or as it’s more commonly known, a “lucky dog” provision.
Nothing for the rules is anything close to what you posted.
]]>I don’t think it will change how many laps are run under caution though. When it’s one to go they get ready to go double file.
]]>@Kharn The Betrayer this is why they changed the rule about racing to the line not why they added the lucky dog. They added the lucky dog specifically when they changed the restart rule with the lapped cars going to the tail end.
]]>The only problem with this is that I don’t think Nascar will do it. The only reason they added stages was for the scheduled cautions. That way, they can have guaranteed pauses for commercials on TV and a break for the fans to buy food.
]]>No it was because of Dale Jarrett’s wreck at New Hampshire and just about getting plowed down because of racing back to the line .
