Here’s a way of looking at it. Comparing a NASCAR racecar to an IndyCar racecar is like trying to compare a .22 rifle to an RPG launcher!

The driver is, quite literally, wearing the car, just as we would wear a change of clothing. That’s how tight these cockpits are. The driver and the car literally become one.

If you suffer from claustrophobia, then the cockpit of an IndyCar or Formula 1 race car is not the place for you. The cockpit of these race cars surrounds you like a cocoon.
