I think the biggest impact for Harvick was that he didnt have Rodney Childress for Homestead, so maybe Harvick had the best car that day but they never nailed the setup…

@Razorgenuinely true though, most people hold Le Man on a higher regard than winning the wec lol.

@A Loving German Flag It’s like saying if winning Le Mans 3 times is better than winning the whole WSPC/WSC/WEC championship

He only got a ride with finch and started races based on his past championship provisional

Then you mentioned Elliot. But Elliot also would’ve raced more aggressively. His crew chief said over the radio to just let people go since they didn’t want to get spun

However the biggest motorsport penalty that I remember the most came from F1 in 2007 where McLaren was accused of spying (known as Spygate) on other teams to gain a competitive advantage & was thrown out of the Constructor’s championship, though their two drivers were still allowed to compete for the driver’s title. Now the entire results of the 2008 championship in F1 is being called into question because of another controversy & that is “Crashgate” where Renault told Nelson Piquet Jr to crash on purpose during the Singapore GP so that Fernando Alonso could win. At first, no penalties were given out, though a year later, Renault team boss Flavio Briatore was given a lifetime ban from F1 for his involvement. Because this is being questioned, it could result in Felipe Massa being named 2008 F1 champion instead of Lewis Hamilton 15 years after it happened largely because any change in the standings will result in Renault being DQ’d from the final 4 races that year & Massa being given those points especially with the Singapore & Japanese GP’s.
