Ty Dillon is pure proof that without granddaddy Richard, Austin would not be in the cup series. They are similar talents in my opinion and both belong in Xfinity. Props to Ty for at the very least, trying to make it on his own steam.

In reply to @stetsonclark8348. I had this very same reaction. I do not consider Todd, Dillon a cup series, caliber driver, not even sure he’s Xfinity series caliber, but trucks that’s about his talent level and quite honestly his brother Austin is not much better.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. won 6 of his 7 Cup championships from age 34 onward. All 4 times Martin Truex finished 1st or 2nd in the final Cup standings, occurred when he was 37 or older. Almost all of Dale Jarrett’s Cup success occurred in his 30’s and 40’s, and Harry Gant’s Cup success was just getting started at 40! Point being, sometimes, taking a guy who has paid his dues in lower series or weak rides in his 20’s and early 30’s (like Josh Berry) and giving them a shot at the big time in their 30’s, can pan out into a legendary career. Austin Hill is another one that is about to enter his 30’s still seeking a big time Cup ride, but I think he could EASILY win multiple Cup championships in his 30’s. If I was a Cup owner deciding on a new driver, I’m picking the most talented available driver under the age of 35. NASCAR isn’t gymnastics. A guy can peak deep into his 30’s or even in his 40’s.
