The charter has hurt more than done better because it doesn’t help the “Open Teams” and it’s not the right way to make a team. It’s supposed to be build it from a ground up. It’s already bad enough that provisionals exists.
Now it’s just franchising and have some huge celebrity helping you out, which is honestly way too easy.
Only good thing has done was Chip Ganassi getting Trackhouse’s money and BJ McLeod getting Spire’s money. That’s about it. Everything else about it sucks and it only helps the big teams while the “Open Cars”/“Open Teams” have to work actually harder.
Plus, the charter system has not help with car counts. With no charters, there were 43 cars and you run a team the right way as long as you have support. Nowadays with this garbage system, you rarely see a full field of 40 cars outside the Daytona 500. Not a coincidence
