Bobby was was a great great race car driver And a very nice man I was a trucker I was at a motel in riverside cal Bobby and some other driver were testing at riverside he was eating breakfast and I when over and ask if he was Bobby Allison. Said yes sat down with him talk for about hour. Made this old Monroe GA happy was a fan from that day till right now. Thank you Mr Allison
It’s a miracle he survived. I have a weird feeling that The Allison Family/Alabama Gang was cursed.
– Donnie Allison’s career-ending crash at Charlotte back in 1981
– Bobby’s 1987 crash at Dega
– Bobby’s 1988 Near-Fatal Crash at Pocono
– Davey Allison’s 1992 injuries from bad crashes
– Clifford Allison died in Michigan 1992 for Busch Series Practice
– Davey Allison died in 1993 from a Helicopter Crash
– Neil Bonnett died in 1994 at Daytona during practice
They say to be dominant you got to put some skin in the game his family gave arms and legs I wonder where Davey would stand in the history books people forget Kyle petty was very competitive and he never cared about racing 100% back then he wanted a career in music
@Charles Waynewright Davey takes a lot of Jeff Gordon’s career. I say Davey wins 2 championships. The fact Davey, Alan Kulwicki, and Tim Richmond died helped Gordon become a superstar.
I had a head injury like that and it’s no joke. Memory is a real issue, and emotional regulation is all but gone. It sucks, but sometimes I just act like a pissed off teenager about things and I can’t help it.
“The Allison’s” in general are nascar stories of survival & unfortunately terrifying circumstances. If your new to the sport look up Donnie, Bobby, & Davie. ( What he did winning the championship was a unprecedented at the time ) #28
He and Davey visited our local upstate New York track the weekend of that race on a Friday night. Accident at Pocono that Sunday. I can’t remember if they ran a few laps or not. They did autographs and both my boys got signed pictures. My youngest boy was elated as the sun rose and set with Davey Allison. After leaving the track mid program they got to their plane at a nearby small airport and buzzed the track before heading south. Was deeply saddened to hear of his terrible injuries on Sunday. In my opinion the story of the Allison’s is one of the saddest in not only Nascar but just plain sad. Judy divorced Bobby at one point but they fortunately remarried.
I had a TBI three months ago from a bicycle accident – NOWHERE as bad as Bobby’s but also had bruising and bleeding in the brain. Like Bobby, I have no recollection of the crash, the ride to the hospital or admittance to the ER. My first memory about an hour post-crash was seeing my wife and the neurosurgeon on my left, and the plastic surgeon on my right stitching my face up. Yet apparently after I regained consciousness at the crash site I was able to give my riding buddies my wife’s number, and speak to a friend who lived 2 doors from the location and came out to see what was going on, AND ask the other riders to take care of my bike……. it’s wild how our bodies protect us from trauma memories!!
I was there! It was my first live nascar race. That is when I became a Davey fan. How he kept checking on his dad but kept racing. And am a great bobby fan. Was able to meet them both. Great people. Also met Clifford too and I have a great picture of him. Would love to send one the his parents.
I met Bobby Allison at Heidelberg Raceway in the late 60s. He was my Hero then, and still is today. No other driver could do what Allison could do! Build it, set it up, race it, repair it if necessary, and Win in it! Bobby could do it all.

@Sludge
No. Some people are cursed. I know. Trust me.
@MrJohnnyDistortion Okay.
Incredible that Bobby survived it.
It would have been more hilarious if he didn’t
You mean the wreck or the bunch of fools in the Allentown hospital?
???????????
Severe injuries including loss of memory but still living today. God bless him.

Bobby’s reaction when she mentions that he peed on the floor cracks me up. It’s like a “You didn’t have to mention that” look. lol
Something a mother or wife would say,and they will never let you forget it.
@Victor Ringe Yep, it’s funny when it’s someone else’s wife/gf that does it. hahaah
Peed
@Hal Weilbrenner fukn talk to text. Lol
She is a narcsissist. Toxic women like that always wait to slip in something embarasing. Draws attention away from their own failure as a person.
I love this brave man.
Some of the original families of NASCAR have sacrificed so much for the sport. These men had no fear whatsoever.
It’s so sad this crash took away his memory of winning the 1988 Daytona 500 with Davey finishing 2nd.

What a Legend
Bobby Allison, a true legend of Nascar!

Judy is now decesed
He was blessed to recover and for having such a wonderful wife to help him during his recovery…
She unfortunately is no longer with us
Lucky to get better and enjoy the rest of his life. Amazing really! Good for him.
One of the top 5 most important drivers ever in Nascar!
One of the greatest to ever grip a steering wheel

And that night he took an outclassed 65 Malibu southern sportsman car and ran sixth or seventh with the higher tech late models. Pure skill
