@Kevin Mcfly a couple of years ago one of the low budget cup series haulers was stolen with the car and pitting equipment still in the trailer. police found it a few days later.

6:04, I was at that race where Montoya crashed into the dryer truck. I was in 7th grade at the time and remember like it was yesterday. All you saw was a huge ball of flames go up in the air. Race was halted for about 2 hours, luckily everyone was okay.
bruhmentium it’s too blow off any debris off of the track that could potentially pop the tires or make drivers lose control, as well as blow off and fluids that might’ve been leaking from a car. The tires are slick, so going over a small amount of liquid at 200+ MPH could be dangerous. And the race was delayed because it rained earlier that day too.
@dogbruh think of a giant leaf blower. Gets any small debris or fluids off the track that could cause the cars to lose traction. The track was at caution so normally he should have been driving slow, but he was trying to catch up to the field and something broke. Dryer was in just the wrong place at the wrong time

@Prestøn Bøurgeøis I believe the rear end gear locked up. If a car is going, say, 100 MPH, and the rear tires suddenly stop spinning, as will happen if the rear end gear locks up, that kind of loss of control is exactly what happens. Obviously that crash was a freak accident.

I’m mostly remembering it as “the race, that never ends”, as it didn’t get better afterwards… First Mears and Logano caused delays for the restart, so it was already well after midnight (aka Tuesday) when they finally raced again, but only for ten laps. And then for five and then for three… Shortly after 1 a.m. they finally made it to the finish!
