Originally, Michael Andretti wanted to do a Cup team in 2012. But that never happened
Andretti wants the Andretti name everywhere, doesn’t he? First F1, now NASCAR?
Edit: I just realized that Andretti wanting a Cup team is nothing new.
He aint getting an F1 team either
Maybe it is generation thing, or maybe it is just me. I am just “meh” with Andretti getting in to NASCAR. Great to see interest, but otherwise, “uh huh, that’s nice the proof is in pudding”.
@Tim Mann well the Andretti family name is as powerful as the Pettys and the Earnhardts. Many, respect the Andrettis both in and outside of Nascar. So now with Nascar having the ability for anyone to start a team and stay together without having major financial problems, anyone is welcome
This silly season just keeps getting crazier and crazier. Thanks for the all the hard work eric.
It make sense, if they’re gonna partner with GM for F1 why not do the same for NASCAR?
I think it’s more likely GM pulls out of NASCAR to fund the Andretti/Cadillac F1 project than Andretti joining NASCAR.
@Satoshi Serena Andretti aint going to f1, and gm will never leave nascar or imsa
@its all a lie I guess NASCAR would bankrupt GM if they left NASCAR. Let’s say NASCAR said Chevy leaving was a breach of contract. NASCAR sues GM for $10 billion, it’d basically bankrupt General Motors again.
@Satoshi Serena he is either going to go NASCAR if he gets refused by F1. Ask, Hass it is too expensive to do both.
@Satoshi Serena 1st Gm isn’t going into F1, even if they did. They’re not Aston Martin. They can do both. Their would be no need for your evil plan.
Never understood manufacturers going into 1 and shutting down another, makes 0 sense. GM has more than enough resources and money to do both.
The 13 is most likely a 3rd part time cup car. The 13 is the only open number from 1-17 in cup. As well as hinted on the DBC Xmas special Brett Griffin (Justin Haley’s spotter from last year) who has now been hired to spot all of Kauligs part time entry’s.
Most likely for Daniel Hemric and Chandler Smith to make some Cup stars in 2023.
@pjstockcrew42 I would doubt Chandler Smith he’s not ready. But is fs Hemric.
@Jack Flynn Hemric and Cassill
Chandler might do short tracks
Have you seen Bowman’s Ally scheme yet, Eric? If not, you should!
Maybe Andretti could bring back Dodge into NASCAR like Evernham did.
They almost did it a decade ago. Maybe 2nd time is the charm
Id like to see that… get big 3 back
Dodge isn’t coming back get f****** educated f****** pay attention as It’s been confirmed that they are not so No f****** uneducated comments allowed You are required to know everything or you’re not a NASCAR fan
The Andretti to F1 thing, which something most fans want, will fall unless the FIA goes against the teams, as there is some sort of rule in place where the teams have to agree unanimously that a new entry is allowed. And they won’t as it will reduce everyone’s end of year reward money…
Actually the teams would have to unanimously agree to not allow a new entry. A majority of the teams would have agree to allow a new entry which is looking very unlikely
It just seems like F1 wants it both ways in the US. F1 wants more attention in the US and yet is giving an American motorsports royalty like the Andretti’s with all this BS?! I say F1 bugger off!
I like how their slogan is _All Andretti…_ like literally they want to be in every motorsport in existence lol
Kind of the same for Redbull, only if they join Indycar or come back to Nascar
It would be kind of rejoining IndyCar since they were in the IRL with Eddie Cheever’s team.
I mean Rickware dose it so it would be not to hard and also pretty cool to see a team with more resources like Andretti try
I knew Dale would race Bristol since he’s previously run at Richmond and Martinsville. As for Andretti, the sooner they get in NASCAR the better.
F1 might end up pushing the teams back on the Andretti team. A team with US roots might give more American viewers something to root for. More eyes and more money for the sport
I’d be willing to bet money that F1 is going to try their best to keep Andretti out of the sport, and it’ll take direct FIA intervention to get him a seat at the table. It’s not just F1 snootiness against Americans, although there’s certainly a fair amount of that. As it stands right now, they’ve got a comfortable status quo. Changes to the cars and driver lineups might shake things up a bit on a year to year basis, but things over there are pretty stable. New teams and new OEMs threaten that, especially OEMs like Cadillac that have a ton of experience building high level cars for top leagues. They’ll likely struggle for a couple of years, but they could easily find themselves racing alongside Mercs and Ferraris by 2030. Sure, some of the other prospective teams like a potential Porsche entry could say the same, but at least Porsche is from the right side of the Atlantic and understands how the game is played over there.
Cadillac is not a OEM as they are a general motors brand so get f****** educated
BS. ITS been that since the 80s I remember
I’m happy Chad Johnston is back in the cup series, i think he and Preece will have a solid season. Also I hope to God that Andretti will enter the Cup series. They are my favorite Indycar team. So that would be cool.
The Andretti name in NASCAR would be awesome for the sport. As long as we have Earnhardt and Andretti we’d be in great shape. Another outstanding video Eric!
I would love to see Andretti in NASCAR I was a fan of both Michael and still a fan of Marco in whatever form of racing he performs in and think it would be great to have the family involved
I work in F1, and personally I’d love andretti to join F1, they bring something special to F1 which Haas doesn’t. I’ve supported Andretti for years in Indycar, so I am abit biased. It would be cool to see an Andretti Vs Penske battle across the series
Love the Andretti news. We need these racing families to stay involved.
Isn’t #13 historically associated with Andretti? A Kaulig/Andretti partnership putting Marco in the Daytona 500, at least?
I’d love to see an Andretti/Earnhardt co-owned SUPER TEAM come to Cup. How friggin’ awesome would that partnership be?
I love F1 and have followed it for most of my life. The teams ought not to be able to reject a new entrant and it shows that something is not quite right with F1’s setup. In the long term, it will damage the sport.
