The NASCAR gaming sphere has been one of a downward spiral over the past 15-20 years at this point. The biggest of these reasons lately has been without a doubt the trainwreck of Motorsport Games. Today we look at this struggling company’s terrible past month or so and how damning their actions have been on both NASCAR ang the racing gaming sphere in general. With that I present to you the Motorsport Games trainwreck: NASCAR gaming has been destroyed.

Do you think we ever see a NASCAR game again from Motorsport Games?
@Speed Hunter Forza already tried their hand at NASCAR with the Motorsport 6 expansion and it wasn’t great, for road courses it was alright but their ai were just daft and brainless on an oval.
I actually hope not. We need someone to make a real quality game. It has been a very long time sense we had a good indepth quality NASCAR game.
Absolutely not!!!!
People need to chill out. I feel like the Indycar game from Motorsport Games will be a huge success
I didn’t buy NASCAR 21: Ignition because I wasn’t buying before reviews came out. I have to thank Motorsport Games tbh. They did save me money for groceries.
Good on you. Inflation can suck it.
Stuck play the superior heat 5 while waiting for the next gen cars to hit eventually
You know it’s bad when Nascar fans prefer a game made 20 years ago
Literally
Playing 03 rn lol
@SlamNSlash doesn’t apply to Forza fanbase lol
Nascar 15 is my favorite. Nascar Ignition I have and try to play it. The racing is fun now but no cautions etc.
Nothing short of a full reverse engineering and update and remaster of Thunder 2004 can save NASCAR gaming now, and even then whoever develops it will probably find a way to blow it.
Try regaining licence to all 2004 sponsors/teams/drivers in order to remake it
NR2003 would be a better candidate for a such project imo. When it comes to the “even then whoever develops it will probably find a way to blow it”, dev drama is very much a thing.
Man, I remember getting Thunder 04 as a kid and being so excited about the future of Nascar games… disappointing isn’t even the word…
Your entry is considered by most the peak, the EA NASCAR games from 2002-2006, from there it’s all downhill.
The best is still NR2003, no contest.
@TheFredster32 agreed!
@TheFredster32 NR2003 is the GOAT no doubt there but that’s on PC, imo Thunder 2004 is the best you can get for a console.
I really want NASCAR Gaming to be the same, playable on Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC. P.S. I like the NASCAR Heat 2, Heat 3, Heat 4, Heat 5, Heat Ultimate Edition Plus, NASCAR Rivals, NASCAR Thunder Games, NASCAR 99, NASCAR 2000, NASCAR 2001, NASCAR Unleashed, and NASCAR Heat.
I want something like nascar unleashed again..
The Diary of Jane playing in the background brings back such good memories for me. NASCAR 07 was the first video game I ever played and still to this day believe it is the greatest racing game of all time. I just wish newer NASCAR games could be made just as good as 07, 06, Inside Line, 04, 05, etc.
06 and 07 get too much disrespect imo they’re up there with Thunder 2003 2004 and 2005 CFTC
07 was my favorite, I put so much time into it, and I remember trying to save up the money to buy Hendricks motorsports. Also I miss fantasy tracks like that tiburon track, talladega road course. There was so much afford put into those games back then.
@DrTensley The soundtrack along with the gameplay were a match made in heaven. Recently re bought nascar 07 and 08 for my ps2 and still play it way more then any new game id ever buy, newest I got is heat 4 lol. But why buy new when you can go back to your childhood memories and into the good ol days
@hdfreekicker2341 I enjoyed the last heat game. It was just too barebones for me. If they could remaster all the old Nascar games from thunder 2002 to Nascar 07, I’d pay whatever the asking price was
My brother and I didnt get many games when we were younger but I still remember having an absolute blast playing nascar 07 and 03 (only ones we owned) and still go back and play them to this day absolutely agree it needs remastered
The failure of nascar games for the past decade is directly linked to the people in suits and ties not spending the money on a developer and publisher that’s worthy of someones time. I understand studios like codemasters are expensive but there’s a reason for it.. they make good games. If you want your game to be good you have to make the investment. Nascar is simply cheap.
The same thing is happening with Konami right now. They announce a Silent Hill 2 remake and they get Bloober team to make it?!
Codemasters got bought by EA and after playing Dirt 5 they are going downhill to
@AMERICAN BADASS 14 Yeah it’s sad. Some of the micro transactions in the new F1 games are completely pathetic
Unfortunately, I think NASCAR is indeed screwed. Unless they come to their senses and pull out entirely, there really is nothing left to save NASCAR gaming other than iRacing, but then again, iRacing isn’t getting off that easy as they have not made many smart decisions themselves.
Iracing made a game that released on consoles with the world of outlaws and monster games
agreed. please, NASCAR, Indycar, use all of your collective braincells and do your best to pull out of working with this utter clusterf*ck of a company.
@Shay True Blue Aussie Flipside: iRacing doing annual NASCAR games would make the games console-exclusive, as shown with the precedent that is the World of Outlaws game.
Also if Monster Games is involved, that would mean that it would be NASCAR Heat again, code-wise.
@FMecha i mean we would have iracing physics so it would be good for the games i believe they need to do something that isnt like heat
@Shay True Blue Aussie iRacing has already made it obvious they want to make a NASCAR game for consoles with what they said and did last year.
NASCAR Thunder 2004 was a near perfect NASCAR Game if any game developer had Thunder 2004 as the foundation with an updated driver roster in addition to Xfinity, Trucks, and either Modified or Late Models with fantasy tracks and a paint booth with the option to upload you’re own logos like Grand Turismo it would be the most perfect absolute best NASCAR game ever made but motorsport games doesn’t have the money or the testicular fortitude to do it.
And this is why the only motorsport game I play anymore is beamng, sure its not exactly setup for a ai racing but its a good quality game that has insane amounts of potential, especially with devs that actually care
Also has one of the most realistic physics
Weird Question that I’m not sure anyone can answer.
Can NASCAR do anything legally to back out of the Motorsports contract and find someone else?? Maybe this is the next thing Dale Jr publicly bends the ear of NASCAR on?
I definitely agree with your take on neglecting the Video Game takes a market of fans out of the equation. Fans that are willing to spend money on it.
I absolutely LOVE driving NASCAR Paint Scheme Cars on other Driving games already and there’s several to choose from (Both in Forza and GT) and I wanna drive them on NASCAR Tracks (Past and Present) and the fact that I can’t drive Nashville Superspeedway unless I buy a crap game annoys the hell out of me.
Would leaking the source code actually be such a bad thing? The community could make NASCAR 21 better, fixing every bug and making it even more mod-friendly than NR2003.
Exactly, I hope this happens
They could also hack the game and disable its ability to be played entirely with that code. Same goes for Heat 5 since it’s listed as 1 of the 4 also.
And let’s not forget about the “clown show” of a Le Mans event they put on.
I remember hearing the cancelation of NASCAR 22 and thought of it as a WWE 2K22 situation, where the devs would climb from the ashes of their previous title and come out with a comeback. But it seems that it’s good as dead at this point
I miss the days of having multiple developers make games for NASCAR
I had a lot of fun with NASCAR HEAT 5, even though it’s unprofessional to use the controller on Switch.
Really worried about the future of IndyCar and NASCAR games because it’s so easy to attract new and young fans.
I’m that person who was interested in FE and NASCAR in mobile games and switched to watching real races.
I’ve stuck to NR2003 because for the most part the physics still stands up well and it’s basically an open sandbox they let’s you do whatever you want
After Le Mans Virtual suffered from clearly outdated security measures, completely neglected online servers, and clownshow officiating, I really don’t know how they actually do move forward. Major brands in the racing world, as well as F1 driver Max Verstappen, basically dropped Motorsports Games and their scam artist bs last weekend bc of their utter failure as a racing game company
