it’s such a shame that Cassill joined Kaulig during a down year and lost his main sponsors right after, they really seemed to be getting better towards the end of season

@Michael Fleming more like Nascar will be a playground for a bunch of talentless rich kids who hog all the sponsors and wreck everything

@Michael Fleming I don’t think your far off. The way things are going we are all gonna be seeing the top NASCAR drivers all racing old school 5hp rental style go karts being recorded/livestreamed from old cell phones in a few years from now the way things are going. Talk about leveling the playing field. I think i am gonna find me one somewhere like that and get a leg up on this.

@Michael Fleming it won’t die but it’s why teams will get more money and why a cost cap will be coming once the new TV deal happens. Hopefully that will keep sponsors on-board as their spend may drop.

@Ripping It All Sports Cards  cost cap is somewhat already in nascar with no testing expect for tire testing limited wind tunnel time and a few other things that I may be forgetting

Tough break for Cassill. Here’s hoping he can bounce back.

My guess is that AJ Allmendiger would be among that one-off’s for kualing. Specially on the road course.

Personally I don’t see Bowman going anywhere. And seeing as Ally funds his while dirt racing team, I think IF Bowman goes anywhere, Ally goes with.

I’m so sad rn. I’m a huge fan of Cassill and he had such a good season ahead of him. I swear that 10 Kaulig car is cursed.

Crypto companies isn’t a viable sponsor for racing.

Sucks for Landon. Dude gets his first really good ride in 14 years, then this. But it was obvious LC was in trouble when Voyager said they were pulling out. Crypto. Blech.

I don’t see Alex bowman leaving HMS anytime soon. But If he somehow does end up leaving Hendrick Motorsport’s. I could see Noah gragson slipping into that ride.

Prairie Farmer January 19, 2023 at 6:13 am

Thats the only person I could see either, but Gragson is on a multi year deal in the 42.

Reply
Noah Mielke January 19, 2023 at 2:41 pm

@Prairie Farmer I thought he only signed a one year deal.

@Noah Mielke what I found said it was multiple years, but didn’t specify the amount.

@Prairie Farmer oh. I thought somewhere I read the he only signed a one year contract.

I’m a HMS fan and I don’t see them moving on from Bowman. He maybe the 4th best driver, but when your 4 best driver can win races and compete for a round of 8 appearance, you’d take that any day of the week. Plus looking at possible replacements for him, Track House ain’t losing their driver and how much of an improvement would Josh Berry be? We haven’t seen him in cup and Berry was at points the 3rd best driver at JRM. I love Berry but i can’t see him in the 48 unless he has a breakout year like Gragson had

I’m hopeful Bowman stays in the 48, and I think he will. I’d say he’s a better driver than Byron and Hendrick pledged big loyalty to Byron, so it’d be weird to try and phase Bowman out. Unless someone explodes like Bell did that Hendrick feels like they NEED to get I don’t think Bowman has to worry.

I’m much more confident in Bowmans contract being renewed than dennys. FedEx was rumored they could leave nascar in a few years. Ally hinted on twitter yesterday they can’t wait for more years with Alex

@Ace08 also that

Gryffon Thorne January 18, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Denny is in deep with Toyota and JGR. They will renew his contract. He is right now helping them transition leadership with Coy dying. Denny is like family at JGR, coach is almost 80 and likely wants to wind down. He may be gives Denny a charter at 23XI if Truex retires and Denny doesn’t need a huge pay check so they can deal with smaller sponsorship. All kinds of things can be worked out there. Denny has a contract as long as he wants it at JGR, he takes a charter he can then run the 11 at 23XI after a 1 or 2 yr extension to keep JGR competitive until Ty can get to victory lane. JGR might move to a 2 car team with Bell and Gibbs soon? Coach has lost both his sons, Denny has his own team now. Who can he trust to run his team form the next 10 to20 yrs. He just turned 82, and now has to helm the company again full time? That’s a big ask I bet they sell the team and facilities in the next 5 yrs. We know Junior wants to move to cup and he is getting chummy with Denny right now. So maybe they’re working something behind the scenes. Fans don’t know what goes on with Denny behind the scenes and how he puts himself out there for the other drivers. He did after all broker the deal with Larson to Rick and Jeff on a boat ride, when no one would touch Larson. He convinced them to take that chance and they won a championship and 10 races. KB seemed to be friendly as he left JGR to Denny, Denny poached Reddick and suddenly Kyle is the franchise driver with a smaller team and is happy again. Just saying. .

Landon Cassill hitched his wagon to an industry full of scam artists and false promise (and at the time, one that was also extremely bad for the environment). It backfired like we all knew it would. I don’t feel sorry for him in the slightest. You support an industry like that you get that you deserve.

off topic, i really want Kyle Busch to get Hot Whells as a part time sponsor ( a dream come true if it’s for more than at least 8 races ) , going from my favorites candies to now my favorite thing to play and collect from my entire live.

Hailstorm86 January 19, 2023 at 12:40 am

It could still happen. Mattel hinted at a sponsorship when they replied to one of Kyle’s tweets and they could be still negotiating a deal because Kyle did say that there are other sponsors that they’re waiting to announce for this season and for the future..

Im blaming Greg Ives for most of that teams issues. when the car was on Boman out drove his teammates sometimes. i just hope this new crew chief works out and we see real results this year. reality is Hendricks puts him as the 4 driver.

Reply
Daniel Vohs January 19, 2023 at 1:54 am

I think the same thing, when everyone was fresh with the new car Ives and Bowman were one of the best in the field. By the 600 it was clear Ives still couldn’t figure out the car and Bowman struggled as a result with bad setups and getting caught up in wrecks

Bowman is fine just fine. Gragson would be the only person who MAYBE takes his spot. But even then he already has an at least 1 year deal with Petty. Its hard to compare him to chase and larson, they are both generational talents who had competitive good rides from the begining of their career so naturally they are further devoloped. Compared to byron they go toe to toe on stats so I don’t think Alex on talent is going anywhere. 2022 wise his crew cheif had one foot out the door probably for the whole season. And bowman would have really good runs ruined by other drivers wrecks so most of his DNFs aren’t even his fault. Ally are sponsoring him in all his racing endevours even sponsoring Alexs personal race team. So unless theres a big falling out somewhere, I think Alex gets a deal done pretty easily

Don’t forget Noah Gragson. If he performs well at “Legacy Motor Club”, I see him being a realistic candidate for the 48. He’s a guy on a 1 year deal who brings sponsorship. A fan favorite, extremely liked driver too.
