In the mid-90s, I was at a few sprint car races where they were required to run mufflers. Everyone was using those Trapp setups. It was disappointing to not see the methanol flames.

Pretty sure down in Australia at most if not all tracks there the sprints are required to run mufflers

SuperTrapp mufflers were required at Louisville Motor Speedway in the 90’s and they sounded cool af…imolol
They cars were still loud, they just didn’t cause hearing damage…lol

Smaller spoilers and 900 horsepower is what all NASCAR fans want

I can remember a time they despised it not long ago

@Pocket7 videos … Huh? Are you talking about ME or YOU? The drivers have to have a certain level of rear downforce in the car. Otherwise they’d be spinning out on every damn lap…
I definitely don’t want a wreck-fest. I want to see the cars to stick like flypaper…that way the high horsepower doesn’t go to waste!

Dewayne Smith January 27, 2023 at 3:20 am

Yes we do I just dont understand how you can kill the horsepower in a RACECAR it’s so dumb

Reply
iHateRacing January 27, 2023 at 4:39 am

These cars honestly would be impossible to drive with smaller spoilers. With the diffuser we could run a 5”

zachary fischer January 27, 2023 at 11:51 am

I have to agree . It’s not real hard to make an engine live at 600 hp with all of todays tech. 900 is a whole different animal and quite a bit more challenging in my opinion

Sending prayers to Reaume Bros Racing and their team. According to the team, a fire broke out at their shop today and several of their team members are being treated for injuries. Wishing them all the best.

Magnaflow Mufflers would sound amazing. Add a few horsepower also . They would have a deep tone to them with the race Mufflers that Magnaflow makes.

Reply
Justin Williford January 26, 2023 at 9:26 pm

@Jonathan Woertz note you said magnaflow did the tests LOL what did you expect them to find LOL if tuned correctly the less air restriction the better…

Reply
DIY Chad 726 January 26, 2023 at 10:26 pm

@Hero Kurogane oh he read it right, the OP def stated that they would supposedly add more horsepower to the cars……… Which I highly doubt they would but ya never know they could possibly do something with the tuning in the computer in order to utilize them

Reply
BA#97 Racing January 27, 2023 at 9:27 am

Nascar engines are high performance motors that are tuned to get all the power they can within the rules. No muffler is going to give the cars more HP. The engine builders and tuners for these cars are smart enough to know how to maximize the power they have already. Yes a high flow muffler can up the HP on a production based vehicle where everything is restricted.

Kurtis Stutzman January 27, 2023 at 9:43 am

Back pressure from race mufflers can add hp over straight pipes… proven on our dynos…

I understand leaving driver salaries private but I wish they tell us how long the deal goes for instead of multi-year. At least with Hendrick, you know how long they’re guaranteed to stay.

What do you think? Could Chase Briscoe become a champion in 2023? Maybe a darkhorse pick?
I think he can become a SHR leader because he is a good all around driver. Will improve, will win a lot.

Reply
Charlie White January 26, 2023 at 8:20 pm

Tony is high on Chase because he did it the way Tony did just racing anything anytime and getting better every time he never gave up and didn’t have a blank check to buy a ride he had to do it on talent and he is just going to get better if nascar doesn’t keep changing the cars every year so the teams can figure them out and go faster and safer A

I would love to see McDowell in a top shelf ride to see what he can do..especially after the year he had last year.

Reply
Noah Mielke January 26, 2023 at 10:26 pm

I think if you put him in a competitive cup series ride. I think he could impress some people.

The only issue is Front Row playing a game of keeps with McDowell

Bryon Kidder January 27, 2023 at 12:42 am

How has that guy been in the Cup Series for 20 years in the first place?
That’s what I’d like to know…lmao

Reply
JRK January 27, 2023 at 1:28 am

@Bryon Kidder Hard to say, some say he’s got decent sponsorship relations with Love’s, I think it’s because he’s akin to Paul Menard. Not gonna light up the charts much if ever, but he’ll typically keep your equipment in decent shape

Regardless, not getting a full ride until 10 years after your debut is impressive, let alone building up FRM like Truex did for Furniture Row

am i the only one that wants to see Matt D back in Cup? Once they finally got him a crew chief he showed promise but it was to late.

@Devin Hull can’t speak for everyone, but I like that he has some personality. Like sure, all of them do, but I just get this “hip friendly guy down the street” vibe, and it’s just relatable. So yeah, I’d agree with you that he’s not the best, but I like that he’s an underdog

Greg Vandy January 27, 2023 at 7:46 am

The 21 team was terrible. It’s obvious that it wasn’t Matt’s fault. The truck series 25, it’s also been bad. Josh Berry drove that truck some and couldn’t run well in it and Josh had been up front every chance he had, but you can’t do something with nothing and that truck is a 15th-20th place ride. Matt’s better than that. Unfortunately any good opportunities for Matty D are over now after being absent running 20th in the truck series last year. Had he got a better ride it could be a different story, but opportunities were slim after running so poorly in the Woods 21, albeit far better than Burton has ever ran in the car. Matt’s only chance now is to have success in one of these 3rd rate rides. Hopefully Rackley War can step it up. I want to see Matt win races. I feel he should have a Bristol Night Race trophy and he would if not for 20th place lap down Ryan Newman blocking the leader lap after closing lap and then kindly knocking the fender in on Matt’s LFR 95. That was heartbreaking. I like Newman, but there’s a time to not drive like that and he cost Matt the race.

Lots of local tracks require mufflers, really not a big deal. That being said, I gotta add I agree with the comment below mine that says we all just want 900 horsepower and smaller spoilers, yep you nailed it dude

Reply
John Haas January 27, 2023 at 12:52 am

Shut the f****** about 900 horsepower Because all fans required to be 100% educated. Do you want to get kicked out of NASCAR as a fan for commenting about something you’re not educated about. Nobody has the right to want 900 horsepower again Because the manufacturers are never going to give it to you The teams don’t even want it because they can’t get an engine to last two races then and Then the cost go up

Reply
FormulaFish15 January 27, 2023 at 1:21 am

Anyone who is mad about mufflers simply doesn’t understand that the sport is trying to get back to some of the tracks that the fans love. Tracks like the Nashville Fairgrounds. And on top of that, trying to ensure the sport doesn’t kicked from venues that are in growing development areas.

Damn, I was really hoping that Kyle would drive the #3 in the Xfinity Series for a little bit but I’m not surprised that Ty was chosen instead cuz he’s family. I’m going to be honest but I don’t think that Ty and Corey will break out anytime soon cuz Spire is just like Rick Ware Racing. I hope that the tiny spoiler will make a difference for the better cuz it’s obvious we all want to see more close racing.

KolhirasCorner January 27, 2023 at 2:57 am

I mentioned it on twitter, but race mufflers really dont change the decibel level much…the change usually has to do with tone depth and how harshly the sound hits your ears really…so its not surprising theres barely a difference

Limitless Digital Media January 27, 2023 at 10:55 am

I still Matty D can get it done in a good cup ride. He drove a Ford with the Wood Brothers and I think SHR would be a great place. Maybe even replace Harvick for that matter.
