What broadcasters do you want NASCAR to go with in 2025?

@Cole Murray it just got Auto blocked it didn’t get reported

@Tank Slappr Okay, you have dodged a bullet. Besides, not everyone will be able to watch a race on “the site”. Children watch NASCAR too ya know but I know you’re making a joke.

@Cole Murray Yea, for sure, I’m aware. It’s just a goofy joke that wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.

HGTV

On a serious note, CBS because they could do a kid friendly simulcast on Nickelodeon like they do for the NFL to get the youth interested.

Cable races should be simulcasted on streaming to make the sport accessible to cord cutters.

That’s how I’ve felt like it should be done

I’m glad SRX isn’t competing with Nascar now. I wanted to watch last year but was too invested in cup racing

Anita Garrison January 31, 2023 at 12:44 am

When did SRX go head-to-head with NASCAR? Unlike IndyCar I can’t recall when the two were racing at the same time. There were very few Sat. night races. I also thought that was Tony and Ray’s purpose NOT to try and compete with NASCAR.?!

I don’t remember the exact thing but I think they went head to head when a lot of NASCAR drivers were regularly trying to compete in SRX when they had a chance

NBC can simulcast on Peacock like they do with Indycar.

As much as I don’t like Amazon I’d love to see a streaming service that cares and makes good stuff like Amazon to take care of nascar.

The other thing with Amazon is they have the grand tour audience. They would also as far as I know be the first Motorsport on a streaming service that big and world wide.

The Grand Tour audience isn’t the NASCAR audience we only watch it for the Clarkson, Hammond and May

@AMERICAN BADASS 14, it is still car guys and men in the 18-49 range which is exactly what nascar is looking for.

Fox and NBC would be my current choice. But CBS is such a nostalgic favorite..

I am surprised that both the CW & Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) (which owns TBS, TNT, MotorTrend & HBO Max) weren’t discussed as possible partners for NASCAR. The CW as of late has taken an interest in sports having gotten the rights to air LIV Golf for the next 3 years along with airing an Indy 500 documentary later this spring which will likely lead to them being a player in the next Indycar TV contract that begins next year. I should also point out that the CW is an over the air station meaning you don’t need cable to access it & it has an app that is free to stream.
As for WBD their interest in NASCAR comes from the fact that currently from mid June (when the NBA & NHL playoffs end)- early October (when the MLB playoffs start) they have no live sports or programming in general on the weekends. I am sure that the executives at WBD are sick & tired of showing old movies, American Dad reruns from 2007 & Law & Order reruns from 25 years ago on TBS & TNT on summer weekends. Getting NASCAR back for the 2nd half of the season would get people to tune into both networks. Both TBS & TNT have a rich history with NASCAR & played a major role in its growth. They also don’t have college football & the NFL on weekends to deal with so races that run long won’t be moved around as is the case currently with NBC. When it comes to HBO Max, it could be used to stream races alongside TBS/TNT & MotorTrend could be the home of the Truck Series along with any NASCAR related documentary programs. Lastly, MotorTrend already has experience in covering racing having been the US home for the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the past 3 years.

I hope they keep the full race uploads to Youtube like they do right now. I can’t really be bothered to pay for a streaming service that will have a terrible player and won’t let me run the race at 2x speed so my ADHD brain can stay interested — if the streaming service even has a catalog of races.

I have to admit, at first I was pretty against having Amazon broadcast Nascar but let’s think about this more a minute:

A: Most of us are already paying for Prime anyways

B: I absolutely despise when Fox/ NBC has to rush off the air after a Nascar race to get to the local news or an Indy race. Some races that run long you barely get to see anything of victory lane. Streaming gets rid of this problem

C: I would think streaming would allow for easier rescheduling of rainouts because your not at the mercy of the programming schedule of the big network

streaming is not really going to work unless it’s Twitch or YouTube.

If we have a streaming OPTION then I hope they get streaming for the whole season, no commercials, all star broadcasting line up (Alan Bestwick, Kenny Wallace and Kevin Harvick) and, pre-race and post-race coverage. Let’s say Amazon gets it then I would pay say $10 a month to be able to have these luxuries. I’m not saying cut TV just have tv (w/ mid year switch) and a full year streaming option with benefits.

If fox and NBC remains with nascar after 24, here’s some changes I would like to see, I would like to see that Daytona 500 rotation like 01 to 06. Have fox do odd years and NBC do even years. And one change I like to see but won’t see is fox do the cup series and NBC do infinity series in the first half and second half have NBC do cup series and fox do infinity series in second half

I’ve been saying it all along, and I’ll continue to say it. I think NASCAR’s broadcast partners beyond 2024, need to continue to be FOX and NBC.

I will die on the hill of FOX and NBC needing to continue to cover our sport long term.

I agree, that this is the most stable situation NASCAR and myself as a fan, could hope for long term right now. I just don’t think there are any other TV networks out there right now, that are capable of giving the sport, the love and care it deserves, the way FOX and NBC have been able to.

On an unrelated note, whenever Kurt Busch gets behind the wheel of the third 23XI Racing car, I think they should change the number, from 67 to 97, to pay homage to his foray into the Cup Series, back in the early 2000’s.

Being an IndyCar fan as well I can tell you with confidence, streaming exclusives kills audiences. The Indy races streamed on Peacock were the worst viewed races

Reply
MaverickTheRambler January 31, 2023 at 8:35 am

Especially when Peacock isn’t even available at all in Canada. Which screws Canadian fans out of the 1 Canadian race. It’s a common thing I’ve heard

I don’t think that ESPN/ABC are a good fit for NASCAR, so I think the price for ESPN should be more ABC races and a higher overall price than NBC/Fox would pay. I would be very unlikely to add ESPN to my current TV subscriptions just to watch NASCAR. Peacock, Amazon, a Fox offering would be worth considering, but changing my TV plan for ESPN for a few months to watch NASCAR isn’t worth it.
.
I think that streaming should be an option for Fox/NBC for the Cup series when they are simulcasting it from their coverage on big Fox/big NBC. I could certainly see the truck series and/or Xfinity series benefiting from their own deal via streaming.

Fox can get away with those kinds of deals because they still don’t have any kind of viable popular in-house streaming service

No matter what network. Give me something like the Manning cast for NASCAR, drivers who know and can be entertaining and genuine

Hoping for a major streamer to pick up all or most of the racing season (Amazon/Neflix/HBO/Paramount/Hulu etc.). I haven’t had cable for years and can’t watch races that are bumped to the cable channels which is really frustrating.
