Am I nuts, or do I remember her commenting on videos and the two of them kind of flirting like…. months before we ever saw her in a video? Or maybe it was on Instagram. But I remember clicking over to her profile and being like, James needs to ask her out! They seem to make a great couple.
@john doe it seem was around April or March of 2021 stradman start liking her post on ig
Then she start liking and commenting on strad around early 2022
As a fellow EV owner I agree with Strad, the price of these fast chargers make owning them not financially beneficial anymore and the time wasted is ludicrous
@Conor Porter And you not being able to read is my problem? Stop drinking the coolaid, google is your friend. I’m not saying EVs might not ever “get there”, but currently, it’s a bunch of BS.
@venom5809 It is also his money. Just cause he have a lot of it. Doesn’t mean he has to be stupid with it. Most of us wouldn’t take a Ev wheeling so there is that.
Strad man tells the truth! We are not ready for GM EVs yet. The chargers will not support them. $100,000 for a vehicle that will strand you in the middle of nowhere.
I’m feeling your pain on this one! Sophia is a trooper for sticking through it, so sorry for you guys and the nightmare experience. Pricing of charging, the time it takes, the likelihood it doesn’t work… the chances that this can be made to work for everyone in only a decade from now; almost zero.
Come on Tim. It already works in most cases. Charging at home is significantly cheaper and more convenient than getting gas. And at least in America (where less than 20% of people live in apartments), it’s available to the overwhelming majority of people. And for road trips, I haven’t heard one story of a Tesla not charging, and it is often cheaper than gas. So for the majority of EVs sold today (Tesla = ~70% new EV market share) this is a non-issue. The next decade will bring more chargers in apartments/condos and lots more dense and reliable fast chargers to make the Tesla experience available to everyone. But important to note, EVs work today, just buy a Tesla. Otherwise wait.
I can’t see EVs staying cheaper to operate even if charging teething problems are solved. If, at some point, EVs are 30% of the cars being used, then the governments will lose 30% of the taxes they put on gas/diesel/petrol. Why should they allow it? They will find a way to tax EVs to death, as they did with diesels (at least in the UK). Maybe increase the road tax (currently at 0) to make it more “fair” for all road users.
Personally I would’ve listed that Hummer truck for sale as soon as I arrived home. Seems like we’re realistically 20 years away from EVs being an option for everyone.
You’re raising a lot of good points about the EV “life”. This video should be shared so that weaknesses with the underlying infrastructure are a) acknowledged and b) addressed
This is one of your best videos yet. The editing is great, the length makes it more fun, and properly using the car makes it great. Just keep on truckin
One of my favorite blogs in a long, long time, i was puckered up myself watching you off-road the Hummer. Also, I am sending you guys good vibes, wishing a long, healthy and prosperous relationship.
Sad you went through this. I like this video. It encapsulates my former experience with an EV, almost on a daily basis. Most of the time, the problem was the charger (I think). It’s a slim chance finding one that works. Usually not having enough range to find another charging station is another issue. Then you add up the hours of your life wasted waiting for it to charge; then add the expensive cost of charging. Then getting it towed, blows away any cost savings of EV life. …It seems like (besides Tesla), the EV world is in the Atari-generation-stage of technology.
Such an amazing video made from such unfortunate circumstances. Sophia is a keeper for sure, the whole video was just so beautiful and made my bad day feel so much better. Thank you for that. Girlfriend confirmed! So happy for you both <3
As a Tesla owner, this video made me appreciate the supercharger network so much more. It’s nuts that other manufactures are spending all this time building EVs but not the chargers in order to support them.
