@Cool Cup Series The only constant has been Michael McDowell in the #34, who has been improving every season. Last season, he earned a career best 12 top tens.
Hopefully Zane Smith gets that ride full time. And hopefully he stays loyal to FRM because they have been loyal to him. He will be hard to keep though there will be lots of interest from other teams for his driving
Kyle Busch is making a Xfinity return, running five races for the newly christened ‘”All-Star 10 Car” for Kaulig.
Amazing how a team and manufacturer change creates a positive opinion of a driver like Kyle
JTG was with Toyota and they more or less stunk. That team got better with Chevy. I dont see JTG switching back
Ford had nothing to do with it. Zane’s sponsor wanted to do like 6 races and front Row said they didn’t want to run a 3rd car for that many races as would need to hire people as didn’t want to use Zane’s truck series crew for that many races
Didn’t expect to see Gilliland not run the full season until the announcement came out. I did expect however that the 36 FRM car will return for Zane Smith for the Daytona 500.
A B-Level team swapping to Toyota in the next 2-3 years could take the place of JGR as the top Toyota team. Losing Kyle (and by extension KBM) has weakened their driver development, followed by the potential retirement of Truex, the possible loss of Hamlin due to sponsorship woes, the poor management of satellite teams for revenue and tech development (see Furniture Row) and the overemphasis on nepotism in their driver lineup are a recipe for “death by a thousand cuts.” Especially after the tragic losses of J.D. and Coy in the front office causing uncertainty as Coach ages and gets more stubborn about the multi-discipline racing aspirations of younger drivers, it kinda spells disaster for the organization. Trackhouse might’ve been the most obvious choice, but I wouldn’t count out a team like Kaulig (if they have a breakout season with AJ) or even RFK (once Jack calls it quits) moving over to the “Dark Side” and giving all that Toyota money and resources a shot.
I did see on Twitter that Josh Reaume (part owner of Team Hezeberg) was giving an offer to Todd to drive for him for his 5 exempt races. So I guess he can go there.
Gilliand and Zane deserves a good run, they are the only Ford drivers that have a great potential. In another place, Toyota is desesperating for get new teams because they seeing into future the downfall of JGR after Kyle’s departure and 23XI could be the top team in a couple of years.
Jerry Freeze also mentioned in his SiriusXM interview that FRM didn’t want to have members of the Truck team going back and forth between the two series.
This is the most exciting “Go or go home” field for the Daytona 500 I ever remember seeing. Ive been watching religiously since the early nineties. I’ll be glued to the qualifying and Duels. I don’t know the particulars of Zane’s contract, but this move will increase his value exponentially if they end up letting him go to another team. I think it’s a good business decision.
Looking at the 38 last year, there was a different sponsor every race (I think he had 18 / 20 different paint schemes) so he probably could link a 36 race season. So I feel the stars aligned for FRM and Zane

FRM just can’t stick with a rookie driver, can they?
Yeah, how do they expect to build any sort of consistency with that car if they can’t support a driver long term?
Front Row Motorsports not having a driver swap for the 38 car every year challenge *[impossible]*

@C.J. O’Dell With his crew cheif moving to the 48 team, might be hard to top that this year, that was a huge loss for Front Row
Hopefully Zane Smith gets that ride full time. And hopefully he stays loyal to FRM because they have been loyal to him. He will be hard to keep though there will be lots of interest from other teams for his driving
True tho
@Joe Ronalds’ Bricks ratioed sucka
Can’t wait to see Conor Daly try to qualify for the Daytona 500. Hope he makes it
Its so sad to see todd gilliland be part time. He actually made decent progress for that 38 team. Hopefully he can get a decent ride somewhere.
He had a couple crashes, but didn’t crash weekly like some of the drivers that drove that car
I’m hoping SHR will pick him up after Harvick retires. So he’ll be in the 4 car or he could go to Xfinity if Custer gets moved back up to Cup.
@Cool Cup Series He only wrecked out of the superspeedways. (Both Daytona races and Spring Talladega).
Why he sucks
Feel so bad for Todd Gilliland. I wonder if first phase left them

The amount of times FRM has changed the driver of the 38 is more than the amount that Tom Brady announced his retirement
My only question is that what if FORD played a big part of getting Zane Smith into the 38 car. Zane Smith also has a contract with FORD as well
Ford had nothing to do with it. Zane’s sponsor wanted to do like 6 races and front Row said they didn’t want to run a 3rd car for that many races as would need to hire people as didn’t want to use Zane’s truck series crew for that many races

Pastrana won a UMP Modified race, not a late model. Was there in person. He DOMINATED his feature
The Longhorn factory was prepping his car, if he didn’t win there would have been an issue lol.
If Gilliland wins the Daytona 500 everything changes.
Hahahahahah now that’s funny for him the win
@Robert Moran I mean it is Daytona anything can happen.
I’d definitely have to buy some Gilliland merch for that one
He’d just get the 36 and start and park for the extra races.
I did see on Twitter that Josh Reaume (part owner of Team Hezeberg) was giving an offer to Todd to drive for him for his 5 exempt races. So I guess he can go there.
That’s a nice deal. I wonder why Hezeberg would even want him?
@Rob F Well, if you think about it, it benefits both parties. More seat time for Gilliland, and better drivers for Hezeberg.
1:44 CORRECTION: Pastrana won a MODIFIED race at Volusia
Thanks Aric

I knew FRM couldn’t help themselves with changing drivers but this is beyond the pale.
Maybe Todd hill and was outbid by Zane, teams sometimes lease “contracts” based on how much drivers pay to race in those teams
