Ruining nascar
I think the choose rule is a dumb thing. It kinda negates the whole qualifying process, and regular positioning.
Once upon a time if you were on the inside lane in the front row, you were 1st, the guy beside you was second, the guy behind you was third, the guys beside HIM was 4th etc etc. Now I guess it just doesn’t matter. NASCAR has had WAY too many rule changes in the last 5 years.
@Ryan Felix Yeah, I know that, I was just using the qualifying as an example to strengthen my positioning comment. If I am in 11th just before a caution and another driver chooses the inside of row 5, I am now essentially in 12th. And what happens if both drivers in the same row chooses the inside? What happens then?
@Ryan Felix Its going to be interesting. And this will for sure be a love it or hate it rule.
If you mean your position depends on whether the leader takes the inside or the outside, it doesn’t work that way. It doesn’t matter which side the leader chooses, from row 2 on back, the inside cars are odd positions (3 5, 7, etc.) and the outsiide cars are the even spots (2, 4, 6, etc.).
You can only lose spots if you choose to. If you’re 11th and 5 cars in front of you take the inside and 5 take the outside, you choose whether you are 6th on the inside and restart 11th or be the 6th car on the outside and restart 12th. You can gain spots depending on how those 10 cars choose. Say 6 take the inside and 4 take the outside, you can choose to be the 5th car on the outside and restart 10 or the 7th car on the inside and restart 13th. I’ve seen guys move up two or three rows because more people in front of them take one side versus the other. Martinsville is a good example. The inside is preferred and more people up front will choose that side on restarts. Others have to decide whether to gain a few spots by taking the outside versus how many spots they’ll lose to the cars on the inside. Guys have moved up 2 or 3 rows and gained a few spots by choosing the shorter outside line, but ended up losing more to the line of cars on the inside.
This is much better than what seemed to start just a few years ago. While the leader could choose to take the inside or the outside, everyone from row two on back restarted depending on the position. Odd positions inside and even positions outside. Dudes were practically stopping on pit row so they came out in a certain position depending on which was preferred, the inside or the outside.
@dartmaster501yea it’s going be crazy if all the manufacturers work together line up behind each other lol.
@ghost_304 Guys will have to weigh their options of lining up behind a same make or gaining a few spots and line up behind a different make.
The choose rule was better at speedways and Short tracks
When will you guys post the duels?
Who’s the best nascar driver currently?
Depends on who you ask.
Joey Logano
NASCAR needs to choose different managers.
I’m sorry I’m not an expert in Nascar but wasn’t this rule already a thing? Or it wasn’t applied for Daytona 500?
It wasn’t applied to Daytona
Some hate the choose rule, but it is much better than what started just a few years ago. What if every Chevy just lined up together and all fords lined up together, I guess only the 7 Toyotas would be out of luck since there out numbered .
The restarts will be intense because the first 8 cars may want top line and then 9th wants to be first car in bottom don’t that make the driver actually 2nd lol . I know it’s not going be like that but they way it’s described Choose ur lane and top 8 are chevys and they don’t wanna be pushed by Ford or pushing Ford where front ends different it’s going make scoring dumb lmao
