Sam Mayer gets loose in overtime, making way for Austin Hill to take the lead from Justin Allgaier and cross the finish before the caution flag comes out.

That flip reminded me of Dale.Sr’s flip from the 1997 Daytona 500.
Reminds me of newman tbh, air assisted after wall hit.
kinda missed out on the segment declaring him the winner…let’s try again
Parker Kligerman with impeccable avoidance skills
Crash into the wall into the air, goes mayer
I was watching this at my grandma’s house, first thing I thought of when I saw the replay was Bobby Labonte 2001 Talladega.
I said that many times
9/10 reenactment
MAYER BLOCK AUSTIN HILL, TROUBLE CONTACT MAYER IS OVER, ITS THE BIG WRECK ON THE FINAL LAP
I was at that race
@Jake Bennett thats cool!
Oh my goodness! Did you see that? The car is upside-down!
We not gonna talk about how parker retslaff got a top 5?
Hell of a run for Jordan Anderson’s team! Looks like they got off on the right foot this year
Congrats Austin.. great job…
Flag shoulda never been thrown, last lap, let ‘‘em race to the line
A mf flipped bro
Austin Hill yuck
There’s a car upside down… you gotta throw the caution
I want more angles at speed please. That was a pretty fast flip.
Let the leaders race back to the line on the last lap, and the cars behind the crash slow down and be scored by “the loop”. That way safety stuff can still be performed as it normally would, and fans don’t get cheated out of a finish and avoid potential controversy over who was ahead of who when a caution light comes on. There was no reason they couldn’t have raced back on that clear track.
Either everyone races back to the line for positions, or nobody does. You can’t say ok everyone in front of the wreck keep racing, everyone behind stop your day is done. Firs Depending on where that wreck happens your gunna have some pissed off racers, especially if points are on the line.
We have the technology now to determine within mili seconds positions of cars when lights come on. And if a Cautioned finish really bothers you then maybe start advocating for a rule change to race green white checkered again.
Why Does Sam Mayer Was Very Unlucky To Win
His flip Is Exactly Like Ryan Newman And Miguel Paludo’s.
@Wirtigo first thing I’ll always think about when someone flips… please no one hit em
@Icezaddy_21 yeah me too
@Icezaddy_21 That’s what my butterflies in my stomach was telling me the whole time
He did a newman right there
Thankfully he didnt get hit and rolled back over
First flip in 2023. This looks alot like Kyle Busch in 2007 except he doesn’t barrel roll
No its Clint bowyer 2007 in daytona
Hill and allemendinger great side draft
This is the second year in a row that Austin Hill, while running a Bennet scheme, won by about a foot under caution at night on the backstretch with a Chevy with a number 1 somewhere in their number do a blow over and flip over with the driver having the letters S and M in their initials
Sam deserved to flip. He had a chance to hook up with his teammate to settle it between themselves, but nope, he goes full dumbass and cost them both.
At 1:17, slow the playback speed to 0.25 so it goes super slow. Now watch as the camera angle switches, Mayer went from on his side to completely upside down with just the switch of the camera angle. This had me so confused during the race as to how he flipped so fast. The cameras were not synced up quite right and hopefully Fox will fix this problem before the Daytona 500 today.
I really hope the announcers for the Cup series will show some more emotion than these guys did. I’ve never been so bored by race at Daytona before and it was all because the announce team was so dull and drab. There was zero excitement or emotion in their voice.
