As much as it sucks to see this track get smaller I can’t help but be excited for what the short track version will bring to NASCAR

W For Kyle Busch
From 1997-2014, Joe Nemechek and Jeff Gordon were the only two drivers to run every race at Auto Club. Then Jeff became sole holder of the record in 2015, as Joe wasn’t focused on Cup. Then Jeff retired and in 2016, nobody had run every race there.
Might as well just not return in 25 probably when it’s going to come back.
That 2005 finish is underrated. Johnson had new tires and was the only Hendrick powered car still running at the end, all the others had engine failure. He drove all the way through the pack after the final restart. Greg definitely owed Kurt Busch dinner after that one.
How poetic that Kyle Busch gets his first Cup win at Auto Club and the final Cup race was won by Kyle Busch.
2013 will always be the greatest Fontana finish.
Dreamt of getting to do the racing experience where you drive the 2 mile. After them talking about making it a half mile all these years I’m surprised they’re actually doing it now. I’ll miss this track.

It’s interesting to see the groove move higher over the years. By 2002 it was pretty widened out. That means 5 years. Texas has had its opportunity. Time for the dozer.
