@NASCAR, why are you still uploading in 720p?

Have the rear impact issues been resolved???

Reply
Harry Andrews March 8, 2023 at 7:02 pm

Logano said in an interview that he’s happy with the rear clip changes they’ve made. So I’d say yes.

Crash test data says no. Changes only made a 60% reduction. Better but nowhere near there. Larson wasn’t plussed by it but if Joey’s happy then we’re good.

670hp still isn’t enough power for these cars.

Reply
Harry Andrews March 8, 2023 at 7:03 pm

HP won’t increase until Hybridization happens, which definitely will happen. The manufacturers don’t want to support high HP engines anymore.

Give them what the fans want and they’ll get more viewers.

I think 670 HP will be the standard moving forward BUT because I feel like the cars weight will slowly be reduced over time. Instead of the 3400lbs we currently run, I suspect in a couple years time with some of the data reconfigurments done with the Garage 56, the cars at the majority of tracks(Superspeedways might just have large ballast increases), will reduce weight to around 3200-3100lbs which will make it seem like the car has more horsepower(it’d be the equivalent of having around 735 HP on modern specs). It’s more favorable to manufacturers and with a weight reduction, it does help produce more power to its weight.
As is, NASCAR already has more power than a lot of other series. I do think that they do understand that having power is a good thing, but they also want others to be interested, and to combat it, weight reduction is the most sensible.

Hopefully it improves short tracks. Still gotta figure out how to fix racing at Bristol though.

The Bristol race was good last year?

Reply
JBtheExplorer2 March 9, 2023 at 12:55 am

@Deathtrooper204 I’m glad you think so, but it wasn’t really that good to me. At the end of the day, the quality of a race is always subjective and pointless to debate.

Why can’t you just add 50hp…

Reply
Elijah JP March 8, 2023 at 7:40 pm

I’d imagine the reason has to do with the manufactures that make the engines themselves.

No

It’s about time! Frankly, I think they should let them have adjustable rear spoilers. It would be one more thing to separate the drivers. What do you want, more downforce for the end of the run or less drag and a looser race at the end of the run? The driver/crew chief adjusts to what they think is a better package over the fuel run. It would mean more passing, different rates of fall-off, pit stops, and stage strategies. Options! They need options!

Until one team finds a way to adjust it during the run

Reducing down force means more overturned cars. short tracks suck. He needs to stick to the horse track.

1:18 How about instead making feel like it has more horsepower, just give it more horsepower

Reply
Caleb Fondren March 9, 2023 at 1:48 am

yeah, they’re just looking for the cheap options. notice how all the changes are just basically taking bits off

Reply
Bob Johnson March 9, 2023 at 6:35 am

They can change them but they will never be what was back in the hay day.

Reply
Maurice Conger March 9, 2023 at 3:09 pm
