Last year, it was all on Chastain. I don’t think he was malicious so much as an aggressive driver learning how to race up at the front in top tier equipment, but he dug himself a lot of holes and made a lot of mistakes. You can’t blame anyone for being wary of him, and you can’t really blame Denny for holding a grudge.
But man, that was all Denny, and I don’t like where this is going. They had their fun last year. Someone needs to step in and tell them to knock it off or someone is going to get hurt for real, and it probably won’t be either of them.
Chastain actually hasn’t changed, he crashed just the same Hamlin a month ago
The difference between Chastain and Hamlin is Chastain will bump someone to get past them and go for a win because that’s what he was paid to do. Hamlin did this to do nothing but go backwards. If Hamlin had wrecked him for a win, fine by me. and I don’t like Hamlin, and am a Chastain fan. I don’t mind grudges or pay back, but there’s a right way to do something and a wrong way to do something. I don’t think what Hamlin did was the right way for pay-back. If your at a race track and your trying to get by someone to get closer to a win, and you have to run him over to do that, even if its Hamlin to Chastain, that’s fine by me. Walling someone to not gain anything for yourself, just to wall them is a different story.

Seems like Denny always has beef with young aggressive drivers who are breaking in. Brad keselowski (dating back when he was at JRM), Joey Logano when he first went to Penske and now Ross.
And both of those have championships. Denny doesn’t. Ross is still young in his career, and I hope he gets that championship too. I like aggressive drivers. I like drivers that do what they have to do to get to the front. If Hamlin wrecked Chastain going towards the front, I wouldn’t mind it, but walling someone doesn’t do anything for you but hurt both of your results, so why do it? It doesn’t make sense to me.
He also had a beef with Chase Elliot last year too.He been full of himself for yrs.Denny is his own worst enemy.
@dax082377 I mean I don’t particularly like Elliott either. Those two are my least favorite because of things they do on the track. I don’t mind pay-back. Just do it the right way where it doesn’t hurt you more with them. Elliott holding Harvick up while Lapped at Bristol two years ago wasn’t the right way to do payback. Neither was Hamlin walling Chastain.
