What a huge $400k win for HMS!
I think NASCAR has the right to be disappointed about this, all HMS got basically was a slap on the wrist, NASCAR wants to be taken seriously about fairness and not cheating, and appeals panel just threw that out the window…
@Denny Pughthey didn’t modify the parts , they told nascar about the parts they got not fitting properly , still nascar went after them for money !! Smh
@Gene Maverick So out of all the cars 84 hood louvers at the track there were 9 that were “not fitting properly” and 8 of those 9 all ended up on Hendrick cars…..lol sure. Have you looked at one of those “not fitting properly” louvers? I am guessing the appeals board did and they upheld the penalty, so in my mind, Hendrick had something other than fitment going on. I find it interesting that a shop as well-funded as Hendrick had a fitment problem with ALL their louvers, yet some very poorly funded teams seemed to make them work to NASCAR’s satisfaction. If there were so many improperly made louvers…..why has Hendrick not just provided one for the camera? I mean they are everywhere to hear them tell it.
Nacsar is the one the needs to be investigated. They are the sole reason crap parts are going to teams.
@Denny Pugh But they did have permission. That’s why they volunteered the inspection of the louvers first thing that day.
@Kyle Dickson Nobody cheated.
hendrick motorsports: as long as you drive for us, you’ll never get penalized again
Brad raced with it. That’s where they got him.
@KDJ18 RFK raced with the part. Hendrick didn’t
@hotwheelzvette95if I understand this, the appeal has not happened yet. The sanctioning body amended (CHANGED) the wording of the penalty. It’s still a win for Hendrick drivers though.
I’m shocked they didn’t drop all penalties
It’s hendrick they never lose appeals
And the king of cheating gets away with it again.
I find it funny how yall said the HMS penalty was to harsh when it happened. But when they appealed it and won, yall are mad that they did. Nascar fans make me sick.
@hotwheelzvette95 Hendrick has been cheating for years and getting away with it. There’s no way average drivers like William Byron and Alex Bowman should be winning races. You put them in a SHR car and they would run 25th every race.
How were they cheating, though? At what point did those parts give them an unfair competitive advantage? Is practice competitive now? Is there even proof that the modifications even resulted in improved performance? Are you going to say baseball players who use corked bats in practice are cheaters? Basketball players who use non-regulation basketballs during practice are cheaters?
@M A Byron has never been average. Guy has one of the best Truck seasons ever and won a championship in Xfinity and has only been getting better.
Hopefully the 31 team will win their appeal also
If they don’t, there’s going to be a riot
If I was RFK I’d want my money back
Well they are Ford’s, Chevy is king is NASCAR and gives NASCAR the most money so I’m not surprised. It all started when the Mopar’s and Ford’s were dominant and Chevy complained so much the Ford and Mopar engines were banned because the 427 Chevy had nothing on them. He who donates the most money and has the squeakiest wheels gets the grease.
RFK ran the part in the race, Hendrick didn’t run it in qualifying or the race. Pretty big difference.
Penalties without teeth. If the drivers didnt know, they are still part of the team as a whole and still should be affected.
*In Jesse Pinkman voice*: “He can’t keep getting away with it!!”
I find it funny how yall said the HMS penalty was to harsh when it happened. But when they appealed it and won, yall are mad that they did. Nascar fans make me sick.
Unbelievable.. but not really that surprised. Nascar truly will never change
The idea of an appeal is to prove your innocence not negotiate punishment. Today’s decision is mockery to the penalty process.
HMS had nothing to do with it, either did Nascar. The appeal panel is independent of Nascar.
NEWS FLASH: Hendrick Motorsports “wins” appeal. Rick Hendrick is so happy he agreed to donate $400,000 to NASCAR and allows his four crew chiefs to have a four-race vacation just to celebrate !!
All four crew chiefs are still working at the shop and in front of computers for practice/qualifying and race day and listening to team communications and sending text messages to whoever on the pit box and interim crew chief is just a mouthpiece
as a hendrick fan, this is absolute bs! how can all the other teams who violate the rules get the book thrown at them but hendrick gets practically nothing!
Appreciate your comment!
Your not a Hendrick fan get real
@shayne jenkins i’ve been a hendrick fan since 2006, ive had this pfp since 2016, i have more hendrick merch than ik what to do with, but im not a hendrick fan bc i want the rules to be applied consistently
* unfathomable rage *
This was the right decision. The original penalties were the equivalent of a very severe mandatory post race inspection violation. This was not the case at all with HMS. This was a voluntary pre race inspection, and there was already an issue with the parts. Historically a team would be told that their adjustments to the parts in question were a bit too good, and they would have been told what to change. The original penalties were an extreme over reaction. Glad they have an appeal process, and glad it works.
I think nascar over penalized originally but I totally understand being pissed at the appeals panel. That’s multiple penalties that the panel has decided is worth money but not points. Money doesn’t matter to the teams, at least the big teams. Points are the only thing that they understand.
So basically crew chiefs get a vacation and nascar gets some cash. Got it.
The crew crew are still working just from the shop or some place at the track that you don’t need hard card
