I like him….wish he would run some more Cup races.
He did an excellent job. Qualified 4th!
Welcome to NASCAR!
goodbye pretty boy Chase!!
Jordan is a class act. A true racer. Hope he comes back to run another race at some point knowing what he knows now.
Great representative of motorsports!
Corey Lajoie is the man!!!I can’t wait til he gets his first win!!!
Gonna be waiting a LONG time, and that’s not a knock on his talent, he’s great at superspeedways. It’s a knock on his team, look at the Atlanta race he was leading, the car is what’s holding him back.
Cory’s one of those guys dude I believe if he was putting top-tier equipment he would tear it up there’s a lot of guys who have went through and got placed in low-tier equipment and we never saw their full potential cuz they never dug their way out of it. Everyone should tweet the crap out of Tony Stewart and tell him to put LaJoie in Harvick’s car next year
That would be a major insult to be put in 1 of Tony Stewart’s garbage equipment cars. LaJoie deservers better than that!
@Nathan Chambers Not sure about that. Harvick still does well. Not as many wins lately but as consistent as anyone right now. Almirola sucks.. Brisco is hot and cold… and preece is in his first year.. I believe it’s just as much driver.. even more so.. where else could he go next year.. Gibbs is set. Hendrick set.. 23/11.. Childress all full.. nothing at trackhouse unless they take that 3rd team full time. where else is there right now?
Jordan should race at Watkins Glen or Sonoma. I feel like they’re the tamer of the road course races.
I really like this guy!
There were moments in this interview that illustrated perfectly one of the biggest differences in Nascar vs other racing circuits. Jordan knows the turns and was able to tell you exactly how he drove each turn, but when it came to talk about the other cars in the field he didn’t always know who was doing what. In most other racing its moreso of a driver vs track thing. We all go lay down our fastest laps and see who has the most speed. But in Nascar it is tiltted more towards Driver vs Driver. One is not better than the other, though I do see how one could view driver vs track as more pure racing.
And like Corey said they know Jordan won’t be racing next week so it was open season. Normally in the driver vs driver context you have to manage driver relationships over 30+ races. “Do I really want to bump this guy off his spot and have him mad at me for the next 30 races?” Much more difficult spot than mad for the next 30 laps.
It’s “driver vs. driver” because drivers will just blow corners to smash in to each other, or use each other as braking aids. There’s no on track respect, no real racing going on, it’s just smash and grab. So the driver vs. driver isn’t who’s actually faster, it’s just who is willing to body someone else out of the way.
@Matt Holmes The end of COTA was a clusterfuck and I was embarrassed to consider myself a Nascar fan, but it isn’t representative of all of Nascar. There was clean racing at the front between Reddick, Byron, and Busch. Plus up until those last restarts it was damn good racing. And races on the 1.5s still have the driver vs driver element to them without having the bumper car fuckery
Brining in “ringers” is stupid and remains so. When has one of the won a race in the last 10 years.
It’s not about them winning, it’s about seeing someone great at a different type of racing interact with the guys we watch every week
Watching these NASCAR “professionals” run into eachother constantly is stupid…
This was fantastic!
GO JORDAN!!
Jordan is a truely gifted race car driver, was very impressed by his speed right off the rip. I would absolutely LOVE to see him at Watkins Glen, the ultimate NASCAR road course, and see what he can do there. I think a top 5 or even a win is very realistic if he in equipment like the 9 car again.
He makes a good point in that you drive that way in IMSA, you’ll be in the garage all day. I’m an Indycar fan but I really like how Cup drivers are learning to enjoy road courses. It’s good racing.
Jordan has driven on an oval. Daytona is an oval with some right turns thrown in. Haha
