After today's appeal hearing on the louvers that were confiscated at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports 100 point penalties to their drivers have been rescinded. Fines and suspensions will still stand. Daniel Suarez has also been fined $50k for his actions on pit road after the race at COTA.

Clint Bowyer Is Awesome
“We are grateful to the National Motorsports Appeal Panel” Well I’d sure hope you are Rick considering they’ve bailed you out of deserved penalties twice in the last year.
Well once. Last season Byron should have been penalized like he was (probably worse) but after reading into this one, It never should have been a penalty at all.
No they been payed off
I’m a Suarez fan, but at least a couple points taken away, but Hamlin does something minor and gets points taken away. NASCAR’s officiating is pretty trash.
Pretty sure the Hamlin one is going to be amended too. Most likely to just a fine if even that.
Hamlin definitely didn’t do something “minor”. He decided to deliberately ruin some other driver’s day and screw their decent finish attempt, all because he wasn’t going to finish well and he’s a petulant manchild.
Correct Decision – Bowman restored as the points leader
Partially correct. I’m not sure how they don’t completely overturn it, but I guess they got back the important part so it’s a win.
True Nascar also needs to understand this was a part/manufacturing issue that they clearly haven’t mentioned or given a reason for since they took the parts
I’m waiting until next week for Kaliug’s appeal. I think they might either get the same thing reinstated or the entire thing reinstated
It should be the same or things are going to look fishy.
if they don’t then you know Ricky Boy Slid Some Money i think they all should take Pentles and move on and learn from it
Lol, imagine NASCAR actually penalizing a team over a part made by a THIRD PARTY MANUFACTURER
Josh Sims Is Awesome
Charlotte nc sports news anchor before he got this position. Great guy
I HOPE EVERYONE CHEATS EVERY WEEK NOW.
Don’t worry, they all cheat every week, have since the beginning of the sport
They already do, its NASCAR. Cheating is the name of the game. The best ones dont get caught very often.
@Kaleb DeGroot But this new car you should not be cheating all parts are spec parts
They already do.. Whether it’s spec parts or not, there is always a way to play with the grey area if you try hard enough.
THEY OWE BRAD K 100 POINTS BACK.
Didn’t they do it twice?
@Vibrant Yes and Lost
No Brad doesn’t, Brads modifications were used in competition. Hendricks were removed at the very beginning of the weekend.
Situations don’t compare.
Brad probably didn’t have the receipts of communication from NASCAR. Racing it or not racing it seems to be irrelevant. But HMS said from the start that they had communicated with NASCAR about the part with questions of what was okay and what wasn’t and NASCAR wasn’t clear with them.
They don’t owe him anything. He never appealed. And even if he did I don’t think he would have been owed them back since the team made the changes and didn’t get it approved by Nascar first like Hendrick did.
Look, if it can be proven the company that gave the parts to Hendrick got the parts wrong, I’m all for rescinding the penalty.
I’m not surprised one bit Hendrick won their appeal and they better do the same to Kaulig Racing
Well I Hurd so I’ll agree it’s nascars fault
Approved part don’t fit what so you do they went to nascar. It was approved but Hendrick 1 that day.
I say bring street cars vans trucks let’s race do whatever street fight rules no joking that be a mess to fix.
NASCAR sanctioning body does not have power I feel like. Most of the penalties have been overturned by the appeals panel. I feel like the appeals panel has more power than NASCAR.
The fine and crew chief suspension it’s fine if it’s the crime but the points in my way of looking is a little hard when it’s not even per-tech they shouldn’t not be points penalized because the car did not hit the track but the crew chief and the owner the people that inspect the parts that come in are held liable in my opinion crew chief says what pieces and whatnot goes what pieces going don’t go on the car for the weekend that decision is made a week in advance
I don’t even think the fine and suspensions are ok because they actually checked with Nascar before hand and were given the OK to use them for Practice. How can they possibly turn around and so never mind, they are illegal, oh and we are penalizing you for using them in practice?
That seems to be a Hendricks ruling. If they were modified they were modified. It should have been brought up not modified. Points should be taken for it. No other car was modified that weekend.
exactly but hms getting rewarded for cheating
Hendrick paid nascar again so let’s see what happens with the 31 car.
NASCAR and the appeals board just makes snap decisions and it’s different with every driver.
especially when it’s hms
It is Laughcar for sure. Lame rule enforcement is laughable!
