Well that’s surprising but he is number 53 on the most wins in nascar history

As a Jeff Gordon fan, I was saddened by him leaving HMS and later retiring in 2018. Watching him win his last race is my most special memory of him. He had a lot left in him and if he hadn’t suffered from dehydration I am sure he would have retired with Jimmie Johnson. However I do think he’d have a top fifteen points finish to end his career.

Jeff lost some of his mojo when the trophy wife divorced him. She was an actual cup trophy girl btw. But it was time for him to payback Hendricks for all they did for him. He is a great mentor for the current team at Hendricks. But Nascar is not the future for Hendricks motorsports, Its “The garage 56 project”. And Jeff Gordon will be heading that up.

@evan jonez jimmie*
also, since when has most wins factored towards the championship?

evan jonez April 10, 2023 at 11:26 pm

@SirSpoony look at the standings 2012 and tell me how Kasey Kahne should be champion? Cuz his stats don’t prove that he should be champion lol
Brad, Jimmie and Boyer had better top 10s than him. Only thing that he beat Boyer in was top 5s

@evan jonez I never said that he should have been the 2012 champion. Along with correcting your frankly, horrible, spelling, I just pointed out that just having the most wins doesn’t prove a compelling argument for being champion.
Also, another thing, that’s Bowyer. Not Boyer. Have a nice day.

You guys/gals think Newman makes top 75? I always thought he had a similar career to Kasey but slightly better

Reply
fallenfetus April 11, 2023 at 8:38 am

Easily. Better highest points finish than Kahne, plus a Daytona 500 win. If Kahne makes it, so does Newman. A better question is if Jamie McMurray makes top 75

@fallenfetus I don’t think Jamie McMurray will make it. He was a solid driver, but only 7 wins in 16 full time seasons, plus starts in 2002, 2019, and 2021. The main ones I’m wondering about are Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.

fallenfetus April 11, 2023 at 4:30 pm

@SpheredHawk67 Larson and Elliott are guaranteed- both are champions. 25 drivers from 2001 to now are being added. I can’t name 24 drivers who had better careers than McMurray in the 21st century.

Kahne was good and had potential to be better. I always think about his rookie season and all those 2nd places and getting bumped from the inaugural chase at Richmond …. Shame Hendrick couldn’t get him when he was a bit younger but he still had some good moments in the 5

My last race was the final one at Rockingham. His second career start and finished second. One more lap and it looked like he would’ve passed Matt Kenseth. I was pretty impressed.

So that means that Dale Jr., Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle all make the list.
