I’m happy for Randy. Listen to those wise words from his 7 year old. “Don’t you make a lot of money now? Why do you need more?”
So so cool for Corey to get to present this to his dad. Absolutely amazing moment
what a great driver and a great guy, also he looks like otmar szfanauer XD
Enjoyed watching Randy race through the years. Good to see him.
Congratulations Randy!
Randy Lajoie.. No way he’s top 75.
NASCAR encompasses more than Cup racing.
@Fire Medic He wouldn’t make it either way. His resume doesn’t hold up.
@ad206
He’s a 2x Busch champion. He was the second win back to back Busch titles.
Just get over it
@TanDawg58 Is Larry Pearson up next? Is Stenhouse making it? He better. His resume is more impressive than Randy’s. How about Reddick? Benson almost won 2. C’mon, let’s be honest for a second. Is this a list of the elite drivers or just 25 randomly selected “very good” drivers? Randy’s not even in the top 25 most NXS wins.
@ad206
A case can easily be made for Benson. Won the truck title and Busch Series title. Same for Pearson. I don’t get where you’re getting the idea that Stenhouse Stats are more impressive, though
OK so I just Googled who else got added and Kasey Kahne is added………I’m done.
Corey tell dad congratulations. Well deserve. I was raised watch your grandfather race at Danbury
Idk if will get an answer but I grow up knowing my grandfather worked on ur car back in conn . Do y’all remember a mike sileo was a mechanic? Was long time ago back when had the junk yard back when Stratford county was around before turned into a mall. Would love to hear the story’s are true! Much love from maine!
Thanks guys that was like hanging out with ya’ll at cookout. Reminds me of hanging out with ya’ll in the RV at five flags. Randy definitely deserves to be in the 75. Side note we still have a garage box and tools that were orginally from Bill Davis Racing, all the tools are engraved BDR.
This is such a great interview. Love all the stories. I’m so glad that Corey presented this honor. Congrats!!!! I watched many a Busch Series race of Mr. Lajoie. Such a wonderful honor to be in the Top 75 of greatest drivers. Great season so far, Corey. Hope it continues.
I don’t get the criteria for this. Ricky Stenhouse has a more impressive resume than Randy does and I doubt Ricky’s gonna make it. And I can easily think of 25 drivers over the last 25 years who have a more impressive resume than Ricky has.
@TanDawg58 2x nxs champ and success at the Cup level. How does it not compare…? He just won the 500.
@ad206
Just because he won at the Cup level doesn’t make him better. Randy’s stats: 2x BGN Champ, 15 wins, 110 top 10 finishes and 9 poles and the 1985 Busch North Champ.
Ricky’s stats 2x Nationwide Champ, 8 wins, 63 top 10s, 8 poles. No titles in any other NASCAR sanctioned series.
@TanDawg58 Seems pretty comparable to me seeing as how Randy competed in about 3x as many races. Because Randy was among the best of the rest and never really pursued Cup, we shouldn’t compare him to guys who showed a lot of success at the NXS level in a short time but went to Cup? That doesn’t make sense to me.
If Ricky instead decided to stay and win, let’s say the 2014 title and won 10 more races over his career, he now deserves the spot over Randy because he didn’t pursue a Cup career? I don’t see how that makes sense.
@ad206
You’re the one who brought up Cup in the first place. Randy’s lone attempt at a legit Cup career came driving a partial schedule for Bill Davis. The only driver to ever make Bill Davis’ Cup team look good is Ward Burton. Randy won his title for BACE, which had no real Cup connections at the time. Ricky won driving for Roush Fenway. Ricky’s titles came in the years after NASCAR said you could only run for points in one series. If the Cup guys were still eligible, I doubt Ricky would have won a championship. Who knows though, Ricky could make it based on his Xfinity career. There’s still another 21 guys who are going to be announced.
The point I’m trying to make through all of this is, just because a guy went on to Cup and had some success doesn’t mean he should outrank a guy who had a mediocre Cup career. Another thing that Randy has contributed is his seat company, which has helped to improve safety in racing.
