Guess I can’t complain too much if we still got a top 5
Garage cars not a big Denny fan but he’s right nothing but junk can’t pass
*denny couldn’t pass. Once the sun came out he was tight in the center, and when you’re running in the top 5 you aren’t gonna pass the fastest cars on track if you’re tight.
Before the sun came out he was flying through the top 10. After the sun came out, other guys were flying through the field while Denny stayed where he was or fell back.
Not pitting was worth it for Denny
Improvement ideas for short track package:
1. (General idea) Increase horsepower
2. Tire with more fall off
3. Thinner tire
Just need more horsepower it would help with the falloff too, no reason why we have this little horsepower on a track you hardly get over 100mph on. You can already see the difference hp makes if you watch Sprint Cars… 410s create better racing on short tracks then 360s because its easier to pass and easier to make mistakes, opens the skill gap.
Man just a few years ago it was so much fun to watch Martinsville because of all the passing. Cars falling off and cars surging would be common place. You had to save your tires for long runs and everything. Now it just is everyone following each other the whole race and no one can pass.
@Sherwin John preece had a good car early. Denny had a good car early. The weather changed the track and with that, the cars changed. If you had a good car you could pass. Elliott passed 11 cars in like 30 laps. Truex sucked for a while and went from way back in the field to 3rd and with one more lap he woulda got 2nd. Denny passed a lot of guys when his car was good. There were several passes for the lead. Reddick passed a ton of guys early and fell back a ton late. There were a ton of guys throughout the field like that.
It could’ve been better of course but it was good, and it wasn’t a problem. Just a good thing that can be improved.
If you can pass cars at one point in the race, and not pass them later, it’s not because passing is the problem. It means one car got better and one car got worse. We saw that throughout the field when the sun would come and go.
@Daniel Chai Obviously some cars could pass but it’s not like normal Martinsville. Just a few years ago it was one of my favorite tracks. Right now it’s just whatever. All the mile and a halfs are better. That’s a Next Gen issue.
@Sherwin John obviously not everyone can pass. Somebody has to be the one getting passed.
@Daniel Chai Idk man watch the polls that come out about the quality of the race it ain’t gonna be as high as the ones from before the Next Gen. It won’t even be good. Dirty air shouldn’t be a issue for a short track.
Hendrick fans are going to somehow bash Denny for this interview
@wreckshop don’t get me wrong, that was impressive, but as soon as we had a long run nobody went anywhere. 4 lead changes will tell you that.
@Jake Lyman yeah I mean when you get in the top 10 you aren’t going to just drive around the top guys. My issue I guess is Denny couldn’t pass anyone so he blames the car and says it’s impossible to pass. It’s really hard to pass but there were guys doing it all day long hell preece drove back halfway through the field
@wreckshop VERY true. I found it really odd how Denny was like critiquing Larsons two wins were because of how he gets lucky on cautions. Seemed like a weirdly placed jab at Larson.
@Jake Lyman also what I find confusing is all the drivers talk about how it’s all track position then they give it up and come take 4 tires instead of two or just staying out.
Crying again, week after week.
He’s right tho, this was a boring race
You guys related?
That’s what I said…
nice race Denny Hamlin 4/16/23 Third is not so bad Denny
Typical JGR, whine and complain like a little child. The teams that beat him must of had stuff figured out about the new car and tires.
Typical fans, complain about a JGR driver every week when a veteran is making a valid point
Denny has squirted JGR tears his entire career .
Racing could be improved but it was good racing. It’s always tough to pass when you’re tight in the center and in the top 5.
There was plenty of passing especially in the second half of the race. Multiple guys passed 10 cars on a single run. Elliott was passing guys on the outside and only taking one corner to do it sometimes.
Lots of comers and goers. Several green flag passes for the lead. Once the sun came out the racing got a lot better. Denny is just salty that he was tight once the same came out.
He’s right, honestly I can’t recall the last “Good” Nascar cup race, the late models put in a much better show at the local short tracks.
He cries week in and week out..
Another whine when he didn’t win .
