The NASCAR video game scene is one of the saddest in all of sports. With it now going on nearly half a decade since the last functional NASCAR game those around the NASCAR community have a rightfully growing impatience with the current company Motorsport Games. It now seems though, that NASCAR itself is starting to feel the same sentiment towards the failing company and now they want answers. NASCAR wants answers from Motorsport Games.

Do you think NASCAR can fix its gaming problem?
yes if they can find someone who actually cares about the game and not money. Heat 2 was the last one i have played but the physics were terrible and EA is just going to re create what they originally had with thunder which wasn’t terrible compared to now. i haven’t tried Iracing but there probably hasn’t been a good nascar game since Nascar Racing 3 which was more of simulator game for PC over 20 years ago.
NASCAR should legit work with Sony on another Gran Turismo DLC for current gen. So much passion and respect for racing history with that series.
I think they try teaming up with I racing and make a “dumb down” version for consoles
Yes, but it’s gonna take time. In the mean time I hope Motorsport Games can just support NASCAR Heat 5 since it’s still leagues above NASCAR 21 Ignition.
No.
Could NASCAR have a rare W in the gaming industry? (Edit: I forgot to mention that I have little hope)
No
no we have been saying this for years and never get anything
No not any time soon either.
Iracing plus the Ai is a very small W
Alright, IndyCar. Now it’s your turn to actually take action as well like NASCAR is doing
@IanPerez2000 that’s part of WEC yk
@Romain Ratel TV true
@IanPerez2000 like indycar not really had a game le mans it be like 20 years and yeah cars are so many different racing games but the championship isn’t
@Romain Ratel TV While LeMans is part of the WEC championship, it is also its own separate entity outside of WEC, kind of like how the Indy 500 used to be during the CART days. The ACO controls LeMans, not the WEC or the FIA, ACO just allows it to be part of the WEC championship and currently has agreed to the current rule set and format that WEC, IMSA and the FIA have come up with, but it is solely up to the ACO, and if they want the can make whatever rules changes they want, and have in the past, thats one of the biggest factors that has prevented WEC IMSA rules convergences in the past from working out. The ACO licensed a 24hrs of LeMans game in the late 90’s that had no licensing from WEC, or the FIA.
To add more info about how LeMans is different from any other WEC race, imagine that a government agency in Italy owned and sanctioned the Italian GP at Monza, and they had the power to set all of the rules and regulations for both the race and the cars and every season they had to come up with an agreement with the FIA and F1 on how they would apply their specific set of rules to the F1 cars and to the race, now imagine that they want IndyCars there too and you see how three separate sanctioning bodies would have to try and come up with a rules convergence that please all three and now you know why sports cars haven’t had a unified rules set in almost 50 years. In that time span several attempts have failed or never even gotten off the ground. Thats what we supposedly have now with the two new prototype classes in WEC and IMSA, just hoping it all works out, but I will not be surprised if it doesn’t.
At this point there isn’t much for MSG to do except remain a front for money laundering.
They always have been
Facts
But it’s really F’n NASCAR
They’re losing SO MUCH $ in New Younger Fan Base because of this BS for so long now
It’s based out of Miami, I would not be surprised in slightest.
NASCAR should definitely terminate the contract with Motorsport Games
NASCAR would still have to pay out the contract. NASCAR sold the rights now they can deal with this mess and learn
@roguesquadron521 from my understanding EA is keeping the Codemasters studio as a separate entity. They acquired the rights to do WRC games starting this year in this deal so I’m pretty excited for that. If they could put the same level of attention to detail they have in their rally games into a Nascar game it would be amazing.
Yeah they honestly need to go back to 704 games and bring back nascar Heat
They’re years late doing it.
the money they’re probably losing from no games is probably less then how much they’ll have to pay for contract termination fees
Even if NASCAR is gonna hold meetings with MSGM, I already have my doubts about changes being made soon for the future of NASCAR gaming
I’m afraid you’ve missed Mike Straw’s update to this: His sources were incorrect and they haven’t actually confirmed that any meetings have taken place on the subject.
im shocked this hasnt happened sooner, f1 games over the last few years have been growing in popularity meanwhile the most popular american motorsport has been forgotten for the last few years
@Red Bull Sauber Petronas last good f1 game was gp4 🙁
Im sorry dor the rfactor drivers but I really hope Motorsport Games just goes down.
@Red Bull Sauber PetronasI kind of like F1 Clash, but g.
@RonaldRegain how is Rfactor connected to them? I thought rf1 is from ISI and rf2 is now in 397 hands? Is any of those companies related to Motorsport games?
F1 games are trash since EA took over sadly.
The only issue with iracing making a console game for NASCAR is the fact they would pretty much have to create a new physics engine as the one iracing utilizes is basically an extremely modified version of nr2003, I think they can do it but really anything is better than what motorsport games has made
IRacing would also have to work on their numerous AI bugs, such as cars getting stuck on pit road, binning it into the inside wall, randomly stopping on track, getting stuck in conga lines, wrecking under yellow, and lappers not moving out of the way. Also, there is an issue with GT3 cars and curbs at racetracks. (they send them flying)
I tried to narrate/ spectate a Daytona race but it was such a mess that it was impossible to do so.
tbh nascar h4/h5 were really good imo just needed better crash physics and some other small fixes. Which they would just take notes on how good nr2003 was for example and using that knowledge when making a new game. I would even RECOMMEND to them to if anything, spend 2-3 years on a game instead of rushing a game in 1.
I got nascar heat 4 the other day because it’s like 15$ and why not and the dirt racing is actually pretty OK for a simcade. I play a ton of DR2 and they are fantastic at dirt simulation so if heat 4 does it well that that says something. I haven’t played a ton of asphalt because it has some strange physics
If Heat 5 could be combined with aspects of NR2003 and a graphics overhaul then I think it would be a solid game.
IndyCar has a stipulation in its contract that it can cancel if it feels fan reaction is negative, sales figures drop, MSG files for bankruptcy, or if the game is below expectation
Is that true? Because if it was they’d have definitely cancel the contract by now due to the fans reaction
i damn well hope this is true. us Indycar fans have literally not had a game for basically 19 years, *and counting.* all i can hope is that what you’ve said is truely factual, and that Indycar can get out of dealing with this goddamn company as soon as f*cking possible. we need a game, and we need a good game.
can have a game that’s below expectations if they don’t put out a game at all
This has finally given us all some hope for the future of NASCAR gaming
Has offically made my day.
2005s Chase For the Cup was the last Nascar game I remember being good. It had some decent AI, a trophy room, and some pretty good genric tracks.
It was also the last game released on a Nintendo console because by then the Gamecube was a failure of a gaming system and failed to reach its sales goals by early 2003. Funny how that version was the inspiration for the move Chastain pulled in Martinsville. Also, no online, either
I stopped with 07 on ps2
@S.KullRandom ummmm the Wii had a couple nascar games and nascar heat ultimate edition + is on the switch. the only console they have ever skipped is the Wii U…every other nintendo home console has had a nascar game.
@Justin Williford I was so happy when NASCAR Heat Ultimate Plus came to the Switch, I’ve put hundreds of hours into it.
NASCAR Heat 5 is a genuinely good game that doesn’t look like crap. I wish they continued the series
100%
Monster would be my choice for the next dev. The srx and woo games are really solid titles. Dirt to daytona is a classic that they were involved in. Its just the best choice imo
Right? I was so happy how the outlaw game turned out, lets hope its not another 20 years for another one
I personally think turn 10 could make a great NASCAR game. Daytona Miami and Indy are great fun on Motorsport 7 with the gen 6 cars.
Imagine how cool it would be to have NASCAR games like Formula 1 games and F1 Manager games? I would LOVE a NASCAR Manager game as in depth as that.
My last favorite NASCAR game was “Dirt to Daytona.” I’d love to see something of that nature.
Milestone has been doing well with the motogp, wrc and mxgp etc. It would be cool if they get a shot at making a nascar game
This is going to get made into a documentary one day. I don’t even think Motorsports games can afford lawyers honestly
