What are your thoughts on Ross Chastain wrecking Brennan Poole?

@Efram Davila Both Brennan Poole and Kyle Larson have mentioned that. Can’t blame them for their frustrations.

Too aggressive for no reason

I think it was a mistake rather than a deliberate act.

He’s a wildly talented and insincere loose cannon.

The #15 was really slow in entry! What was supposed to do, he didn’t realize Poole was so slow!

Larson got caught up in somebody else’s mess.

Yeah thanks to Ross Chastain’s poor decisions again.

@Darell Calhounsure he should have

Reply
Big Hand May 2, 2023 at 4:24 pm

@prymetymegreen What Kyle Larson did towards the end is nothing compared to what Ross Chastain did.

Reply
John Barker May 2, 2023 at 5:28 pm

@Darell Calhoun no, he shouldn’t have. Afterward he spent his time on the outside. Racing sprint cars night after night to pay the bills is admirable, but it’s hard work and no glory. He apologized to the only person whose opinion and evaluation of him really matters in that situation…Darrell Wallace Jr. Bubba accepted both his public and private apologies, and both of them have moved on.

John Barker May 2, 2023 at 5:30 pm

@prymetymegreen yeah, it’s a real shame whine about easy situations like someone else punting a car in front of them. Check the video. Chastain and Larsen were side by side. There was only a car in front of one of them…thanks to Ross.

The media has got to stop excusing chastain.

@PhilAlmighty lap drivers need to move out the way when leaders coming by

@Bill T Marchi How many other drivers have wrecked someone 13 times since 2022 like Ross has?? None!!! Get a clue.

@J ROZAY Not for long.

Reply
Chad May 2, 2023 at 2:21 pm

Guess you didn’t watch anything during and after the race.

Reply
J ROZAY May 2, 2023 at 2:29 pm

@Bk Bk cry harder. Ross races to win!

Reply
Joe Schmoe May 2, 2023 at 1:30 am

I swear the discussion of Chastain rubbing paint with another car happens every race. Sometimes multiple times.

Gentry Debbie May 2, 2023 at 4:55 pm

Kinda Like Larry’s Old Driver Earnheart it was ok Then ?

Reply
John Barker May 2, 2023 at 5:17 pm

@Mike it is for Ross. That’s the problem. Wrecking someone is a normal part of Chastain’s weekend. Everyone is going to be involved in an incident from time to time. Ross is the only one who’s involved in an incident nearly every race…and nearly always because he’s the one who ran into someone else.

Reply
John Barker May 2, 2023 at 5:19 pm

@Big RLS I went to the Richmond race. the Trackhouse merch trailer may as well have been closed for all the people there, and he had more boos at driver introductions. He’s spoiling a great personal story by running over people every week.

Reply
Joe Schmoe May 2, 2023 at 5:23 pm

@Gentry Debbie Dale is always the throat people go for first. Yes Earnhardt was dirty sometimes. Petty was dirty sometimes. Johnson was dirty sometimes, but they where champions bc they had the talent to out drive other drivers more consistently than they were bootin guys for no reason.

Reply
Mystic Ghost May 2, 2023 at 5:55 pm

@Joe Schmoe exactly and that’s the problem. Chastain obviously has enough talent to outdrive others… he just chooses to dump and wreck people instead with no Regard.

jjjustin17favs May 2, 2023 at 1:34 am

Used to happy every week. If it didn’t involve the 1 and 5 it would hardly make the highlights

Watching this after hearing Tony Stewart’s interview with Kenny Wallace, Tony nailed it. No veteran drivers these days to put Ross in the fence and to tell him he will continue to eat fence until he gets the message. But then in defense of current veteran drivers, not sure NASCAR would stay out of it and let drivers police drivers. No wonder the etiquette is gone.

John Barker May 2, 2023 at 5:24 pm

@Ruiner Actual and Tony learned. So did Keselowski, Kurt Busch, and even Kevin Harvick, early in their careers. Ross can learn by listening or by being turned into a pedestrian a few times. It’s up to him, but people are running out of patience. At this point he’s losing fans every time he parks someone against the fence…which is often.

Reply
AstroDoc May 2, 2023 at 5:52 pm

You nailed it here. NASCAR will take driver authority out of question in today’s racing, but they don’t replace it with their own, so this is what you end up with. This behavior needs to be checked by someone at the very least

Reply
Mystic Ghost May 2, 2023 at 5:56 pm

Where can I find this interview. I’d like to hear Tony’s opinion on the matter.

Reply
John Barker May 2, 2023 at 6:06 pm

@AstroDoc NASCAR is rare among sanctioning bodies with their “have at it boys” program. There’s contact at every level of racing, road and oval, and not everything should be penalized, but NASCAR is extremely rare in that almost nothing is penalized. That’s basically an open invitation for drivers to run over each other for every spot the way Chastain does. In this incident he bumped a lapped car out of the way basically for just being on the track.

I used to call someone “I’m sorry” because they were always the first words out of her mouth. It was like the boy crying wolf.

Reply
Efram Davila May 2, 2023 at 2:04 am

So sad to see that happen, just when Larson was showing what he had for today’s race, I’m sure he would have been a factor if he’d stayed out of trouble cause he was on the move,

@Johnny sounds like your not much of a Hendricks fan,

Chastain wrecks good cars almost every week.

Reply

@John Barker no he doesn’t. I heard he took Earnhardt out in 01.

Reply
The Franchise May 2, 2023 at 2:13 am

Chastain needs to know when and how to be aggressive. Wrecking Poole was uncalled for. Glad Larson held him up at the end.

Reply
MrClips May 2, 2023 at 2:19 am

Everyone laughed when they all said “he would wreck his own mother” after the wall ride. Why is anyone surprised now?

Reply
HighMXHubby May 2, 2023 at 2:28 am

America’s Crew Chief said it right. Ross is a great driver but we are tired of hearing him say I am sorry I wrecked you on purpose.

Reply
Mark Sinn May 2, 2023 at 4:00 am

Sorry excuse of a driver!!!

Reply
Timivision May 2, 2023 at 2:57 am

You’d think after all of these run-ins Ross would’ve gotten his teeth kicked in 6 times by now, but I guess not. The drivers will just keep saying he needs it but nobody’s gonna deliver it to him.

Reply
Acklapa_14 May 2, 2023 at 12:14 pm

the second you do you get fined and have points taken away. Why would you at this point? the problem is NASCAR wont let them retaliate without punishment but Ross gets to keep doing this.

Imagine Dale Sr racing today, would’ve been killed by the media

Reply
ASennaFan May 2, 2023 at 4:59 pm

Ross has nowhere near the talent Sr. had, thats comparing apples and oranges.

Reply
pru May 2, 2023 at 6:00 pm

Actually they never called out Dale on anything, really, even back then.

Reply
Lets Roll May 2, 2023 at 6:08 pm

Dale reminded everyone that his last name did not have “senior” in it and corrected anyone who called him that… and as far as being “called out”, go watch his Bristol night race race win over Terry Labonte and the reaction of the media over the next week, as a matter of fact he was booed for weeks when he went to other tracks

Reply
Ben Myatt May 2, 2023 at 1:16 pm

“I’m so sorry” with a smile on his face lol. Ross is a savage. Going to do it until he gets checked.

Reply
Joice Williams May 2, 2023 at 3:34 pm

As a Larson fan, this is a learning experience for Chastain.

Reply
Lets Roll May 2, 2023 at 6:04 pm

Everybody says they got “Chastained” when when he wrecks them…
well Ross is going to get “Kensethed”

Reply
Steven Campbell May 2, 2023 at 4:38 pm

He looks soooo sincere when he is smiling while giving his explanation and apology.

Reply
Boyd Steenblock May 2, 2023 at 5:35 pm

I was thinking exactly what Larry said. When I heard Chastain say “I’m sorry” it sounded like a broken record. Each time he says that he’s sorry, it Carrie’s less weight.
