What are your favorite throwbacks?
NOTE: This video was being made before some throwbacks were announced.
My top 5:
1) Carson Hocevar
2) Ryan Newman
3) Noah Gragson
4) Sheldon Creed
5) Ryan Ellis
Probably Joey Logano’s.
No one’s talking about LaJoie’s.
Ryan Newman
Throwback weekend is one of my favorite weekends of NASCAR.
Agreed. For me it’s all the Superspeedway weekends, Throwback weekend and the Motorsport Triple Crown weekend (Monaco, Indy, Coke 600)
Same glad I live in SC cus I get to go often and it has like some of the best racin and schemes of corse
I grew up idolizing Richard Petty and while born in 02, I feel the Adam Petty tribute is amazing as it works well for the truck like Thad Moffits STP truck did
I think the RCR Harvick salutes are pretty good, The UPS ones are decent, Awesome Chase from the same ol place’s car is good too
A big issue I have with throwback week is how many of these weve seen before, and over the years how many repeats there have been. There are so many schemes that dont get run that are available.
Easily for 2023 it’s Chase Briscoe throwing it back to the boss man’s Turkey night GP win, and Herbst doing a Ken Block tribute
100% agree with both!
Logano’s French surrender flag scheme seems to fit this season really well. Gotta get bonus points for that.
Hahahahaa
très drôle
@WintersSoldier Vielen dank mucb
The Harrison Burton Exide throwback got me really excited. I always loved the Exide cars. The original purple and black as well as the 2000’s lighting schemes.
Imo Riley Herbst’s throwback is the best of the bunch
A heartwarming tribute and an amazing scheme that is in complete contrast to what Monster Energy normally runs
Yeah, it isn’t a NASCAR scheme, however throwback weekend is honouring the past legends of racing. And that’s what SHR and that #98 Ford is doing this weekend
That #98 is fire. Wouldn’t mind seeing him run something similar more often. I honestly don’t know why Monster doesn’t dig more into some of their other palettes and schemes. Would love to see Riley, or Reddick drive an ULTRA ZERO white car with blue numbers and black trim. I think that would look sick.
I’m guessing this list was made before the 98 was revealed. Still my favourite throwback by far though.
Honoring Ken Block is so damn classy
In a perfect world, many of the old Ken Block schemes would be default Monster schemes but I’m really glad that they’re doing a throwback scheme for this weekend.
Herbst throwback is an all time classic
Funny thing about Lawless Alan’s throwback, the Spree paint scheme was actually run in the Truck Series in 1999, through under the #34 rather than the #45
Honorable mention
William Byron: 1998 Jeff Gordon NASCAR 50th anniversary
Riley Herbst: 2010 Ken Block
Sam Mayer: 2001 Kurt Busch Sharpie/Rubbermaid
Christopher Bell: 2003 Matt Kenseth DeWalt
Ryan Newman: 2002 Mobil 1
It’s nice to see Riley Herbst it’s a tribute to another series it’s awesome to see UPS back! The number 45 is my number one paint scheme for this weekend
It’s a shame that other drivers have better Kevin Harvick throwback paint schemes than Kevin Harvick himself.
Bill Elliott was one of my favorite drivers when I first got really into NASCAR around 1996ish. Seeing that red #9 again gave me goosebumps.
For me the top 3 throwbacks in 2023 are:
#3 – Kevin Harvick’s proposed cup debut scheme. (Dead on scheme with the 4 being the same color as the 30)
#2- Aric Almirola’s throwback to Dale JR. (Covered in this vid)
#1 Kevin- Harvick’s 1st win throwback.
Brad Keselowski’s John Force throwback is so freaking sweeet and iconic. I need a diecast of that
Imagine how fitting it’d be for Chase Elliott to run a throwback to his father’s 1985 red Coors Beer livery. It would recall a huge year for Bill Elliott, his first win in the Daytona 500, his amazing recovery drive in the Winston 500 to win the race after being in the pits for 2.5 laps and overcoming it under green, the win in the Sputhern 500 which gave him one of his nicknames “Million Dollar Bill,” and winning 11 races in total.
RWR just revealed the throwback that Ryan Newman is running, paying tribute to his 2002 Rookie season ride and it is gorgeous
Ever since I’ve gotten my hands on youtube and watched literally ever Nascar race that I can find I have to say throwback week is literally the week where every era blends together
Watching Adam Petty Denny Hamlin-ing around a short track is damn impressive
