Chase Elliott has went to a point that most thought he would never go to, right-hooking Denny Hamlin into the outside wall as revenge for how the 11 raced the 9. This is something that has become too common in the last few years in NASCAR and the sanctioning body needs to put their foot down. We saw this happen with Bubba Wallace last year after he did a very similar move on Kyle Larson at Las Vegas. Now they have an opportunity to strengthen the current precedent by suspending Elliott. This is why NASCAR was right to suspend Chase Elliott

The timing on this was absolutely perfect
Edit: Corey Lajoie will replace Elliott
and Hocevar will replace Lajoie!
@EJR6309 Gaming Hoicevar really? is someone at spire smoking something cause if they are i want some of it.
@Tate Smith yes hocevar
They just suspended him for one race. W move for NASCAR!
No, it’s not. I’m a fan of him and I’m very upset to hear the news of him being suspended.
@Christine and Jayden Okay? Can you not see how consistency in punishment for the sport is a good thing?
@Christine and Jayden Dude, he sent a guy full speed into the wall, he got that one deserved, you can be upset and all but that doesn’t change anything
@Christine and Jayden kurt busch is out of his career because the questionable safety of this car, no one should be doing these kind of things on track right now.
Also, why only *1* race again?
This video is the real definition of perfect timing literally seconds ago he got suspended
NOOOOO
LETS GOOOO (yes I’m a harvick fan)
LOL
@Nick Go 4
@Nickthewin!! 4ever!!!! Hence the kh4 in my user name!!!
And as soon as this was published, Chase Elliott got suspended!
Like I said about Bubba’s suspension, let this be a lesson for the drivers.
Nobody should ever intentionally wreck other drivers, period. Doesn’t matter who you are!
Chase Elliott has nobody to blame but himself for intentionally wrecking Denny Hamlin. Justified penalty. Great call. Better hope he learns from this!
Talk about perfect timing
yea, make their cars drive on the inside so they can be the ones putting people into walls instead.
They never learn man because it’s “modern Nascar” since drivers aren’t racing with respect anymore man. If this were 1997 then Chase Elliott would have been banned from Nascar for life.
@RanndomUndead that doesn’t excuse Chase Elliott’s actions. Besides, Denny didn’t mean to put Chase in the wall. He had a bad corner or was tight in 4. He lifted, but it was too late.
Chase is still in the wrong, no matter what Denny did. It’s Chase’s fault. He has nobody to blame but himself. His meat riding fanbase need to realize Chase isn’t always innocent
@Travis Glanton The Tower Enthusiast no he wouldn’t. Maybe in the 2010s when drivers had to walk on egg shells all the time but even then, look what Gordon did to Bowyer.
But early 90s Nascar had to tell the drivers to clean up their act and stop wrecking eachother. By 97 and forward, it was retaliation properly. At the next short track race usually or turn them into the grass.
In a span of season and a half, this has happened twice. Next time it needs to increase. Points and suspension or multiple races.
As an Elliott fan, it was painful to watch him do something like that. Glad nascar stayed consistent and suspended him
1000% agree
@Hallm34 same but I don’t mind hooked right in games but real life that different matter
CE fan in agreement. Hope he adjusts his attitude and gets back on track with a better headspace
Also agreed 100% as a Chase fan
@Meredith Bernhard He and every other driver has just learned to drive the bottom lane and shove people into the wall. That way if they retaliate nascar will suspend them.
With this precedent its gonna be super easy to make sure your rivals never finish a race
Waiting for Bad Seasons: Chase Elliott 2023: First injury, now suspended at the same season.
Under Winston standards it beats out 2013 Keselowski for WORST championship hangover
@Rainbow WarriorChase Elliott did not win the championship last season
@ChaseBriscoefan#14 under Winston standards he DOES
@Rainbow Warrior no one cares about that, and under Winston standards he wouldn’t have won his 2020 championship
NASCAR’s one race suspension is just being consistent with the one race suspension for Bubba last year. For all of you who complain about NASCAR making up the rules as they go, at least they’re being consistent whether you agree with it or not.
At least it’s better than 0 races
Hambone should have been sat down a week and win stripped for driving thru kyle
You aren’t wrong
@Wayne Wilsonyeah but he didn’t turn him head-on into a wall at the worst possible part of the racetrack to get turned into the wall at
@Яyder Message sent “Loud and Clear” to the Gibbs and 23XI camp!! Jeff Gordon probably said… “I’ve seen ENOUGH…TAKE HIM OUT!!”
I’m looking forward to seeing what Corey LaJoie can do in Chase’s equipment
Is that who is replacing him?? Or are you just taking some wild guess based upon absolutely nothing, that someone who is already driving another cup car for another team already will for some reason fill in for the race
Corey is subbing
I’m excited for Hocevar in the 7
Elliott did overreact and yeah nascar probably did the right thing, but for Hamlin to say Elliott took his crappy car out on him is BS. Hamlin slammed him twice and took no accountability. Right hooking someone isn’t the answer but when are these guys like him and Larson gonna learn drivers aren’t gonna accept them leaning on them.
Cope harder bro lol name a driver that fenced a dude and took responsibility…. the only person who should be held accountable is chase. Regardless of what happen that was wrong of him and an over reaction.
Hamlin was the aggressor
@TatsuPazuzu this isn’t a school yard fight.
@tatsupazuzu doesn’t matter why the penalized person did the penalty, he still did the penalty
He didn’t need to explain himself considering you clearly see in every angle that he got out of the gas and washed up so it was unintentional and everyone all night was doing it so think before you type and STFU
This is the first time I’ve heard about the telemetry. I thought he just lost control of his car.
But considering there is proof he intentionally wrecked Hamlin makes me agree with the decision to suspend him.
They also used it to make their decision on Bubbas incident. They can tell if your on the gas or the brake. The car is like a computer connected directly to Nascar.
@FishOn22 makes you wonder if they can slow a car down with it?
@Jonathan Dempsey Highly unlikely they have it set up like that. But it would be possible.
Nah, he steered into him; wasn’t much but at those speeds, it doesn’t take much.
@Redslayer86 the teams can tune their engines with the computers, but I don’t think Nascar has it set up where they have control of the car and I don’t see them ever doing that
While I agree 100% with nascar suspending Elliott, Denny doesn’t have the right to bring up Bristol 2021 after what he did at gateway last year.
I agree with you completely. As if Denny hasn’t done tons of the same stuff throughout his career. Don’t forget when Hamlin completely cleaned out chase at Martinsville
@j_badach_xvi U know it’s at Martinsville ffs. Can you not tell the difference in severity?
@j_badach_xvi6261 It’s a safety issue not a race issue. that’s why right hooking someone into the wall at a fast track isn’t the same as what happened at martinsville
@Dirk Strickland I’m not comparing it to what chase did to denny I’m answering to denny bringing up his past “tantrums”
I’ll be honest I love Chase, I thought Brad K hit Chase but after the different angles shown, I can’t even defend him this time man!
Low key kinda excited to see Hocevar make his Cup debut this weekend
As a Chastain fan I really appreciated hearing your comments on the post race last night. Say what you want about Ross’s aggression he’s never straight up hooked a guy going 160+ down the dog leg. And if he did I’d be as objective as many Elliot fans calling for his suspension. Bubba deserved it & so does Chase. “Boys have at it” does NOT mean attempt to injure your competitors even if they ruin your day.
Uh… I hate to break it to you, but Ross has right hooked guys multiple times. I believe the 2018 Xfinity Auto Club and Darlington, possibly the same year, he right hooked a guy in the middle of the straight away in retaliation.
@Timmy Hill Facts I can be objective & not let my admiration for my driver get in the way of the facts. Many Elliot fans have come out in favor of the suspension & I applaud them. You still have a % that a month ago were calling for Ross to be kicked out of Cup for aggressive driving yet are mad that Elliot is sitting out a week for his own stupidity
It was a racing deal, and Elliott overreacted and retaliated in a terrible way.
As a diehard Elliott fan, I whole heartedly agree. Absolutely uncalled for. Not even mad Elliott is suspended even though he is my favorite driver and it’s going to be harder to root for a guy who is willing to race like that going forward.
If you always think someone like Larson is having a rough season, just remember it could be worse
That opening statement perfectly sums up life as a Blaney fan and someone who’s very neutral on Chase.
Correct call. There were so many telling Corey Lajoie “finally you’re speaking the truth!” When Corey was diagreeing with suspension.
I dont care who it is, the most favorite or the least, these type of things need to stop. In 1.5 sessons, we’ve seen this happen 4 times. 2 in cup (Bubba & Chase) Noah at RA, and in the trucks.
Now i believe the level of punishment should increase. 3 races and points. Get them back later in the race or at the next short track. Like we use to see
