Of course he did! because paying the fine was no big deal to him but…once points were involved, as Kevin Harvick said…it now involve the owner, the sponsors and the rest of the team.
He explained on his podcast that it was because of the email that NASCAR sent, and he said that he did none of the things mentioned. And to address the other guy, wouldn’t it make more sense if a Gibbs talking to would make him drop the appeal instead? Y’all just say things to hear yourselves talk at this point.
What kyle said.. mark martin started that etiquette, and got TONS and TONS of respect for it.. but also, how many races/championships did he miss out on because of that? I am the biggest Mark fan you’ll find.. just wish he would have just tried once or twice to go for it a time or two. I know respect means more than trophies but a championship for his already hall of fame career would have been incredible for a small town guy from Arkansas.
One KEY difference between Denny’s penalty and the other situations you mentioned:. Denny’s is the latest episode of a feud that’s been going on for nearly a year. It could be not so much that Nascar is upset with the wreck, and more that it was Ross and Denny again.
Also, nascar has been pretty consistent on drivers self policing. They will give the driver’s the benefit of the doubt 9 times out of 10. Getting on a podcast Monday morning and admitting you wrecked the guy on purpose–that doesn’t leave any doubt for nascar to let you benefit from.
Had a blast this weekend. Harvick doesn’t usually sign memorabilia before the race, but once he saw his rookie year car he ran at Atlanta he signed it.
Exhibit A: Daniel H. Manipulated the xfinity finish by purposefully spinning Parker Kligerman. Kligerman had saved the car and Hemric turned right to finish 2nd.
I tell you what. Hearing Denny saying that he’s not only paying Josh Williams fine, but he’s helped a lot of guys over the years like Matt Dibenedetto keep going when they couldn’t afford to show up at the track makes me respect Hamlin on an entire new level. Giving guys the chance to make it, when they just don’t have the funding is what we need from more superstar drivers. I really think this guy is going to be a great cup owner.
@Coyotes79 LMAO. I’m actually Harvick’s number one fan and have t shirts and everything. I don’t even own anything with the 11 on it. But yeah, he cracks me up. Must be a Chastain or Elliott fan. Who know. You’re the exact reason why I enjoy him.
The problem is that if what Denny did was on purpose…. and denny admitted it was on purpose. Thats why he got a penalty. And Denny did manipulate the finish, he changed where Ross would have finished.

If NASCAR loses all three appeals…
@Douglas Hayes yep!
@Douglas Hayes They need to have better communication if that’s the case
We’ll start calling Nascar the “FIA”
Neil Rosenau that’s the point of the sport bro
Denny Hamlin walks in on Brad Keselowski

Wonder why it took him some time to appeal, despite saying for a bit that he won’t. I wonder if NASCAR won’t appeal it to set a precedent
Coach Gibbs gave him a talking to I’m guessing

I can’t describe how much of an honor it is to call Brad Keselowski my favorite driver
Brad is actually the goat
Same here
(Corey Lajoie is probably still my favorite)
I love the dude because of his goofiness
He’s gotta win sometime this season
Same
It’s beautiful to see Denny Hamlin acknowledging DennyDelivers existence.
he ended up following him on twitter a couple days ago
@Ian Graham yeah, I saw
@Ian Graham must be a big Denny Hamlin fan, I guess… that DennyDelivers guy
Denny Hamlin is certainly an interesting character.
That he is. Denny Hamlin is far from boring
Props to Denny for making sure Brad had his shingles vax post race.
Eric Jones proving you could pass contrary to what Hamlin said post race.

It was Denny again.
Can’t wait for CotA! Should be a hell of a race!!

You’re Denny’s #1 fan. You comment on every video defending his every move. Don’t act like you just now “respect him on an entire new level”.

Throughout all of this Denny has gained a new fan. Not saying he’s my number 1 driver that’s still Kyle Busch but Denny is making it into the top 5.
Clearly you just like the controversial drivers.
@Coyotes79 Is there anything wrong with that?

The 43’s run was wild. Too bad he didn’t do it the lap before he might have been top 5. Great day and weekend at AMS.
