How fitting that we could potentially see the two races where Hamlin has wrecked Chastain each end up with penalties against the 11.
That would be very unfortunate
@Eric Estepp it would be hilarious and Hamlin would definitely break the truce if that’s the case
@cornholio47 Totally, it would totally be Ross’ fault if Denny got penalized for admitting to intentionally wrecking him! Not Denny’s! He’s the victim here!
@Commander Focus w/ Nick Searle Denny is never the victim like he claims to be.
Denny Hamlin is truly his own worst enemy.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for publically acknowledging the difference between Byron/Bubba and this. People are losing their minds because “wHaT aBOuT bUbbA PeNaLty”
I was about to type this comment
Lol.
I vividly remember Denny Hamlin telling the press that Juan Pablo would never make it far in the post season because he let drivers get in his head, funny how things circle back.
Was he wrong though?
@Gabe Nope, it’s just funny how these things tend to work out. Denny is not a NASCAR champion, and seems to have let Ross Chastain in his head, rent free.
@Gabe doesn’t matter Juan has done more and won more in multiple forms of racing then denny has so who’s really bad
Denny also explained how Keselowski will never be a Champion and nobody will know who he is in five year…lol
Juan Pablo never had title contending cars at Ganassi except maybe 2009-2010.
Everyone is missing the point that he intentionally walked Ross. It was NOT a racing incident.
Exactly.
I’m hoping with getting more experience in IndyCar, Jimmie will be able to improve his standing at road courses. I think he should run well at the Roval though, he almost won there a few years ago. I think he should race at Dover though. That was his best track.
He’s not running the Roval. He’s running the 600 on the Mile and a half at Charlotte. He’s running the street course in Chicago.
In theory I appreciate the idea of a driver admitting they wrecked someone on purpose.
But not so much in this case. He didn’t wreck Chastain because he was in his way and needed the position. He gave up and took the nearest driver he could find with a grudge with him. Very unsportsmanlike and dangerous
Where was the wreck?
Agree with everything except the dangerous part haha
@Bryon Kidder ok , slamming Ross into the wall, than running into the back of him multiple times, trying to wreck him in front of the field. Denny ignorance at its finest.
@Kharn The Betrayer “trying to wreck” & wrecking are different things…lol
You wanna “charge” Hamlin with “attempted wrecking” now? Good luck with that…lmao
The fact he even fully admitted to it and he is a team owner, maximum penalty honestly.
Fines mean nothing to well paid drivers like Denny but adding maximum points along with the maximum fine may get his attention.
Don’t ya kinda have to actually wreck someone?…lol
@Lin HunnicuttHe will get points maybe. You cannot just wreck a guy because you thought he crowded you and did not hit you.
@Easy E Network that’s my point.
I would like to see Jimmie drive at Dover this year since he basically owns that place. And it’s where he got his last win
Or martinville
Of all things Hamlin could have said, I think he picked the worst possible thing to say. You don’t want to put Nascar in a position that they could potentially penalize you. He could have said “I sent it into the corner to try and beat him and it didn’t stick” if he said something like that Nascar wouldn’t even look at the situation
I 100% agree. Should’ve told it in private to the people that needed to hear it at the very least, not a mf public podcast that is endorsed by the most polar NASCAR individual of all time
He’s a child and children say dumb crap that gets them into trouble.
Seeing how early it is in the season, Hamlin will probably get a fine at most and NASCAR will keep their eyes on him. The point penalties will only start coming if this becomes a trend for Hamlin. Personally, considering how poorly the beef last year ended for him, it seems like a bad move on Hamlin’s part to be the one to reignite the beef and to do so this early in the season. His run for the championship is going to be heavily impacted if he’s too busy bullying Chastain.
I think the bigger problem was the line “I let go of the wheel.” Yes he got the result he wanted for Chastain, but if that’s how he did it, he was a danger to others on the track as well. Not sure why he thought that was a good idea to bring up on his podcast, maybe getting the viewers on the podcast will outweigh the financial cost of a penalty? Had he not said anything, or maybe said it differently, he would not have an issue here.
Yep, not only intentionally wrecking Chastain but letting go of the wheel to do so could also possibly be seen as a safety violation?
every racer he has had a beef with went on to be a NASCAR champion
Poetic
But he didn’t “wash up” even you Eric heard him say “I just let go of the wheel “ that was not only stupid but dangerous as well . And I agreed with Byron losing points, and I want the same for Denny.
Congratulations Denny, you made the list of world’s dumbest criminals(driver’s). Most criminals get caught cause they go out and brag about the crime that committed. He’s not the first driver to admit getting into someone, but in his case he wasn’t provoked. He wrecked Chastain for no reason based off last year. That’s shows that Denny is actually intimidated by Ross
I also think they should be looked at differently too. With spinning someone other caution you’re potentially putting the track workers at risk. Even though there clearly wasn’t one a safety truck could’ve been in the in field or passing by to pick up debris
