NASCAR needs to stop being consistently inconsistent
YUP
If you were going to penalize Hamlin, they should’ve penalized Gibbs for crashing his own teammate last fall at Martinsville. The inconsistency is just mind-boggling
Hamlin admitted he wrecked Ross on purpose. Gibbs didn’t admit it even though we know he probably did.
Alot of times they just call penalties based on what media/social media attention it gets…
Where is the inconsistency? I thought they handled the Hamlin penalty well, as well as Hendrick too.
Hendrick: “I blame you NASCAR!”
NASCAR: “I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear while I was doubling you penalty!”
If I were to add my 2 cents, NASCAR said do not modify the single source part. Hendrick should have spoke with NASCAR to see what modifications can be made. The rules are clear… to me.
or the louvers did not match specs straight out of the factory. i’ve seen some serious supply and manufacturing issues lately
Stop the cap they cheating to win lmaooo gawk gawk with hendrick stg
@Rowdy2Fast You might want to try that again. This time, in English.
Hendrick has a history of cheating but Nascar has a history of being inconsistent and just doing whatever they feel like at the time
Who hasn’t cheated? I been watching 30+years and have seen bunch of cheating
kendrick lamar????
To Pimp A Hood Louver
HMS isn’t the only team that has cheated in NASCAR you know that, right? Junior Johnson’s team, JGR, SHR, and many more are guilty of cheating so don’t make it look like HMS is the only team who cheats.
Hamlin’s penalty is really funny, he commits one of the most pathetic attempts at revenge possible, gloats about it when if it was me I would be embarrassed and never talk about it again, and then surprised pikachu faced when he got bopped for it.
So true!
Only one worse that I can recall was Danica. She attempted to wreck Landon Cassill and he was able to continue on with no damage and she was junked.
@Nathan Middaugh “rule number 1 of stock car racing, learn to wreck someone without wrecking yourself”
I feel like bubba should get his million dollars back. At least when he set a bad example he actually wrecked the guy
No one has ever accused Denny of being the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Sharp as a marble
Chastain has literally broken him!
Wonder what Joe’s thoughts are on Denny’s extracurricular activities. It’s been more damaging than any dirt racing
But not snow boarding….
What extracurricular activities you referring to?? Why do I have the feeling you are going to mention something that is not comparable at all to the whole dirt track racing has an extracurricular activity, I mean the only thing Hamlin does extracurricular is play golf and play basketball
@DIY Chad 726 everyone else knows what I’m referring to haha. His podcast man.
Joe gonna ban all his drivers from microphones.
i mean NASCAR can’t make judgment calls on every wreck, but if you go out of your way to admit it was intentional i don’t blame NASCAR for feeling like they have no choice but to penalize you at that point
They can’t give you the benefit of the doubt if you don’t leave them any doubt
@Limp Rooster Thank you for saying how I am feeling about this penalty. I see a lot of people don’t agree with it, but I kinda did. You were able to put words to my feeling
Sure they can. Other racing bodies do
Denny even chokes on revenge. Damn he was dumb.
I think Hendrick will get the penalty slightly reduced because it wasn’t post race like all the other ones have been. Plus if it was a voluntary inspection then I assume they thought it would pass. It will be interesting but I could see like 75 points instead of 100 and 5 playoff points instead of 10
Intentionally causing a wreck under green in the closing laps could have been detrimental to the safety and points standings of other drivers. I see that as being more dangerous (especially in this new car) than the point where Byron gave Hamlin a bump under yellow. Of course both should be fined and docked points.
I have a feeling that Hendrick will find a way through this somehow. Even if they don’t win their appeal, they’re good at finding ways to make a comeback. This is early in the season that means there’s plenty time for Hendrick to get back on the horse.
Yeah this is still gonna be a Hendrick dominant season regardless of penalties
I’m hoping that at the very least, they take off 10-25 points from each driver or something. 100 per driver was insane.
Exactly. Like yeah it’s huge but it’s not horrible. Hendrick is fast and they’re going to win races. A lot of time is still left in the season
@V8 Diva I mean all the cars had the modifications. Keselowski got bopped for it and lost 100 points and Hamlin got disqualified from a race. This is 100% fair
They will win they appeal. Nascar knows that and only gave the penalty for publicity.
The penalty is huge, but I think if it was any other organization it would cost them the season, but not HMS. It does put alot of pressure on Bowman. Even though he was leading the points, he hasn’t quite been as good as the 5 and 24 yet. The biggest thing is going to be the lose of all 4 crew chiefs. HMS needs to take the penalty now, so Alan G will be back in time for when Chase hopefully returns in a month or so.
The big humps in the fenders over the front wheels back in the 07 Sonoma race were found pre-race and “met specifications” but were an obvious alteration of the Gen 5 car which they were really harsh on back then too. Think Chad and whoever the 24s crew chief was got a 6 week vacation over those
In Jeff Gordon’s statement, he mentions that they did a parity test in the wind tunnel. It sounds like the supplier made some louvers that were only meant to be used in the test, & Hendrick decided to use them on track.
First rule of wrecking someone on purpose, don’t wreck yourself in the process. Second rule of wrecking someone on purpose, don’t tell people you did it on purpose, especially on TV or a podcast. Denny did both.
In my opinion, Hamlin got payback on Ross at Pocono last year. He cost him a win and it was obvious that it was intentional to put Ross into the wall. That was allowing the drivers to properly police themselves. You don’t have to act like it was an accident, you just don’t need to get on camera and say you did it on purpose. Everybody speeds on the highway, but if you admit you did it, you will be getting a ticket.
I think what concerned me most with Hamlin wasn’t the fact that he admitted to wrecking Ross, but the fact he said, “I let the wheel go” after one of his own drivers was sent into early retirement due to an accident. He knows the safety concerns the cars have had, and he still decided that was ok.
They’re grown men. They’ll be okay.
@Tool Time tell Kurt Busch that.
show up to the track with modified parts and you intend to race them. Voluntary inspections are done to often see what they will be looking for. So, it was actually strategic and many teams do this.
