I wanted Keselowski to win that but oh well he has speed so I’m sure he’ll get one this year

I sure wish Lajoie could’ve got it.

Went to the race, man that felt like a 2000s Daytona race. Strategy in the first half and the second half got insane! Absolutely packed today, what a day!

My heart breaks for Brad K but the biggest showstopper of the day was the green/caution indicator on the last lap! Thats a huge addition moving forward and should be a big plus

Reply
TrippaMazing87 March 20, 2023 at 12:45 am

Very good addition indeed

Reply
DoomusRLC March 20, 2023 at 12:58 am

I also love that addition.

Reply
DoomusRLC March 20, 2023 at 1:57 am

@DIY Chad 726 during the last lap they showed one of the caution lights in the corner of the screen.

2011 Daytona 2 was the last win for the 6, isn’t it?

@DoomusRLC yep

@DoomusRLC no Ryan Newman won in it

Reply

@Zach Welch what race? Last Newman win I can think of was that random Phoenix win he got when they gambled on 2 tires when he was in the 31.

I sat at the champions grandstand row 56 and it was my first Atlanta race ever. I’m a Kyle Busch fan don’t blame me but in the last few laps, I sure was rooting for brad. Great race today!

@xlGalaxyll I was in section 3 if that helps. To the left of the start/finish line

Also Brad k’s sponsor had a good fan engagement.
Outside the track at the souvenir haulers, they were giving away Hawaiian rolls stuffed with BBQ or Philli cheese steak

Reply
Existing in a space March 20, 2023 at 1:27 am

King Hawaiian actually got back to me when I told them their rolls weren’t in my grocery store outside of Thanksgiving. Gave them the store numbers.

2 weeks later they had kings Hawaiian products on the shelf
Albeit just for a limited time.

I miss when sponsors did stuff like this!

I remember as a kid going to both Pocono races in the late 90s and early 2000s and the big sponsors always were giving away goodie bags with freebies and samples.

I remember one year they were giving away bags with travel size old spice, tide, Fritos, propel drink packets, and more! Like you pretty much never see anything even close to that these days!

Reply
1870offroad March 20, 2023 at 7:57 pm

@DSHalfDemon yes!
It was that way with me at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Back in the 90s and 2000s there was so much to see and do here. After about 2008-2014 it all started going away
This year it started feeling more like the old days, there were several trailers giving stuff out to the fans

Brad and Joey showed u can block and u can be aggressive going for the win but not go over the line and just wrecking cars to win. It was a good race and a awesome finish!!

Reply
DIY Chad 726 March 20, 2023 at 1:49 am

Just can’t make said block too late

Reply
Jayanna Kelley March 20, 2023 at 5:37 am

Joey raced clean & didn’t wreck anyone for the win!

Reply
Richard Folmer March 20, 2023 at 6:33 am

I think brad went to block joey at the end but thought not to ,you know joey wouod have dumped him

Reply
White Eyes March 20, 2023 at 6:39 am

@Richard Folmer Yea he knew he was to late to block which is respect and great driving.

The race was very quick. The 500 mile race (not comparable) took 3:57:14 and the July race took 3:22:18. This race was 2:53:05. The races this year are going by quicker than they were last year. I actually like it

N45C4R24 March 20, 2023 at 1:33 am

More green flag racing

Reply
DIY Chad 726 March 20, 2023 at 1:48 am

Actually per 100 miles then this race took longer that the July race

Reply
TheGreat_Kramer1 March 20, 2023 at 2:17 am

I hate to remind you but the July 2022 race was 400 miles.

Reply
Crazyplayer198 March 20, 2023 at 10:02 am

@TheGreat_Kramer1 this 400 mile race was quicker than the one last year

Reply
Crazyplayer198 March 20, 2023 at 10:04 am

@DIY Chad 726 how does that make sense. Both this race and the July race were 400 miles. The 2023 race took 30 less minute than the race last summer

Reply
John March 20, 2023 at 12:56 am

Two things: Stewart must have been seething in that booth today seeing his best finishing car was 24th. Keselowski has changed RFK from top to bottom and has made the team relevant again.

Reply
CJ March 20, 2023 at 1:31 am

I really questioned Keselowski joining RFK, but you can see how they have changed since the start of last season. If Kevin Harvick wasn’t at SHR I wouldn’t have any issue saying RFK is the 2nd best Ford team, which hasn’t been something they have been able to say for a long time.

Reply
FormulaChris085 March 20, 2023 at 1:43 am

@CJ I mean, unlike SHR, RFK can have two cars in consistent top-10 contention.

I think since the back quarter of last season you could argue for RFK being second best Ford team

Reply
John March 20, 2023 at 2:18 am

I’ve heard that Keselowski would like to expand to a 3 car team as soon as next year however I think the expansion shouldn’t be too rapid either.

Reply
Devin C March 20, 2023 at 7:53 am

And Stewart made Haas relevant again when he joined that team. Won the championship and then another car of his, driven by Harvick, won the championship as well.

Reply
John March 20, 2023 at 10:17 am

Yes for sure

Reply
Tyler March 20, 2023 at 1:04 am

That Kings Hawaiian scheme of Brads is absolute fire. RFKs are usually pretty good, but this particular one is sexy as hell.

Reply
Askerban March 20, 2023 at 9:13 pm

I really liked that paint scheme too. Easy to find too with orange

Reply
Garibuki March 20, 2023 at 1:36 am

“Brad Keselowski (should have) won this race.” – Larry Mac, probably.

Joking aside though, that’s two heartbreaker races in a row between Harvick’s Phoenix win being stolen and now the underdog story of Brad bringing Roush back from the dead after a year of painful struggle. My buds and I have never been so collectively sad after a race until this one. Could have been the race of the year if it ended with Brad coming through on top.

Bad Brad back at the front is an awesome sight, growing more and more comfortable saying he will make playoffs this year.

I wasn’t the biggest Brad K fan back in the day, but I really wanted him to win, man he was so close!

Yeah the first couple of stages were a bit of a snoozer, but it’s better than the caution fest we saw Saturday between the Trucks and Xfinity series. For the most part, everyone drove a pretty clean race, especially for a plate track, and the last 50 laps were a blast. I was on the edge of my seat, seeing Brad play The Pied Piper like Jr. used to do.

It’s too bad he didn’t get the win, but he’s due for one soon. Brad has strung together some good runs to start the year, and I expect to see him in the playoffs this year.

Daniel Bevier March 20, 2023 at 4:08 am

I have to say that I wasn’t always a Brad Keselowski fan, but over the years I have come to admire his perserverance and skill, especially on the fastest tracks. I totally admire his decision to leave Penske and buy into Roush-Fenway. It used to kill me to see the Roush-Fenway cars running around at the back of the pack just sucking! I am exceptionall impressed by the improved performance over the last 12 months. I believe that a lot of credit needs to go to Brad K. I am looking forward to the remainder of the year and at least a couple victories by RFK Racing! KUDOS!!!!
