Kyle Busch going to the 8 car was probably the best thing for him to do.

Yes and I truly believe his best is yet to come..

@santacruzer agreed. One of many reasons why I’m glad Kyle is no longer associated with them.

As a life long Kyle Busch fan it’s been so weird to see the outpouring of support he’s gotten over the last few days, goes from THE MOST hated driver to being pretty liked now

Kyle Busch always had fans.

Kyle Busch going to RCR is one of the biggest face turns in NASCAR history

@JGR4LIFE I can see that in a way

He seems like hes acrually enjoying life a little bit now. Remember when he won and was still pissed off? Or “im just here” interview? Hes laughing and opening up a lot more now. Wonder how much JGR had to do with that, or if he felt like he had to uphold a “reputation”

JGR4LIFE February 28, 2023 at 6:28 pm

@Blaise Michael are you referring to Bristol when he won the race and said the car sucked

Also, JGR said they “couldn’t find sponsors” for KFB and that Gibbs was going to pay out of pocket. It is 100% clear, given how easily RCR found sponsors for KFB, that Gibbs used whatever excuse he could to justify dropping one of the greatest drivers of all time for his grandkid, who’s literally a kid.

Reply
Elites Reviews February 28, 2023 at 6:40 pm

They were trying to find a BIG sponsor for KFB like M&M’s but they couldn’t

Reply
Adrian Holguin February 28, 2023 at 6:43 pm

@Elites Reviews if they wanted to keep the face of their program they should’ve made a adjustment to their sponsorship model. Where theirs a will, theirs a way.

RCR is using sponsors that they already had

Idk it’s hard to back JGR when he has long history of making poor driver decisions and screwing teams over. Their two satellite teams are no longer in business (Furniture Row and Levine) and they kicked Suarez, Jones, and Logano to the curb and all have found success with their new teams. I just find it difficult to believe that they couldn’t find sponsorship for the most notable guy in the Cup series. Idk maybe they were looking for 1 or 2 main sponsors instead of 4-7 smaller sponsorships and this philosophy does not work in modern NASCAR anymore. Then also not letting C. Bell race his sprint cars would also cause some concern. I just have a hard time defending that organization now because of all the things that’s happened.

Donald Roberson February 28, 2023 at 10:06 pm

It’s like they’re asking to become irrelevant almost. They’re gonna need to rebuild half their roster soon and they best not screw up on their next drivers if they want to remain where they are.

@Donald Roberson If Toyota’s smart, they’re gonna put their eggs in the 23XI basket. They’re gonna become the flagship team at TRD at some point in the near future, especially since they have steady long-term leadership with Michael Jordan (just turned 60) & Denny Hamlin (turned 42 a few months ago). With Coy’s death, JGR has no succession after Coach passes

Letting Tony just walk too made no sense, though I think Tony did not want to drive Toyota.

@Easy E Network yeah. Tony was pretty loyal to Chevrolet if I remember correctly.

Maybe so,but JGR was doing everything they could to grenade KB’s career! Why? We will probably never know. Did anybody notice how quickly RCR got sponsorship, after JGR said they couldn’t secure sponsorship! Hum?

Jgr-can’t find sponsorship
Jgr- interstate batteries is upping their sponsorship

Kyle has already preformed better at RCR than he has the last 2yrs. I believe this will work out for him well. Actually rooting for him.

Proof that gibbs wasn’t giving him what he needed. He just made Richard Childress the top team in the sport besides Hendrick

Reply
Tonia Vasseur March 1, 2023 at 4:23 am

Yeah because he wasn’t be able to race And think right to win last year because of all the stuff going on now that he has his contract and everything he’s ready to ride and he’s ready to win the start of all that mess it was going on last year that’s why you couldn’t win

Reply
Chase Maguire February 28, 2023 at 6:35 pm

Even if Busch stayed with JGR I still think he would’ve ran how he did in 2020-2022. Busch needed a change of scenery cause whatever JGR was giving him wasn’t working for him.

@ninjaXavier3 yeah your probably right because in 2019 when Kyle Busch won his 2nd championship he had racked up 55 wins at that point, and then it took him 3 more years to get 5 more for 60

I take the whole Gibb’s did this and Kyle did that stuff with a grain of salt. Personally, I think KB needed a breath of fresh air to get his motivation back like any long time employee at any business. The change of scenery obviously did him some good and once this team really begins to gel I think they will become a powerhouse.

Regarding the garage 56 entry, while I agree it would’ve been a great opportunity to see a hybrid nascar, there isn’t a mandatory rule it has to have some sort of electrification or environmental impact. The delta wing was literally an indycar concept. So I’m guessing that’s why they let nascar slide.

I came from Canada to see the last race at AC, I have always been on the fence with Rowdy. I have to say it was fun watching him race Sunday, after the penalty for speeding on pit row, he was on a mission. I couldn’t happen to notice myself cheering for him at the end. Say what you want about Kyle, he makes racing fun to watch

Naturally aspirated, huge displacement engines are one of my favorite things I love about the Cup series. There are so many other race leagues out there you can go watch if you want forced induction, hybrids, or electric race cars. If the Cup series were to go away from the type of engines they use now that would be a huge blow to the appeal of NASCAR to me.

The beauty of motorsports hybrids is you can run a big V8 with a hybrid….some of the Hypercars and LMP2 in IMSA and WEC run V8s with the ERS systems. You’re still gonna get a massive NA V8 but its probably just gonna have regen braking which really changes nothing

As for the Garage56 entry by NASCAR & Hendrick, I think that the sanctioning body of the 24 Hours of LeMans is tickled to have any significant American entry into this year’s field. Even if the car has just a push rod Chevy V-8, getting US fans to tune into the race is more important.

Reply
Tim Williams March 2, 2023 at 1:53 pm

I agree that it is a good thing to have an American team at Le Mans but, what is the real goal of this nascar “experiment”? This is only 1 car and it will not be competitive with any of the other classes and not “official” so what’s the point? now if there were a few nascar type cars that makes more sense because then they have their own race between themselves but just throwing a car out there to get smoked by everyone else… I don’t see the point. My only hope is that they can complete the full 24hrs on the track.

It’s been pretty obvious to me that JGR gave less than 100% effort and resources to support Kyle Busch the past two years, and Busch in turn didn’t always give his best because he knew he was getting substandard support from his owner. The marriage between KB and JGR was heading south and neither side tried very hard to save it. Now both sides have moved on, and I think KB will be the one to benefit the most from the split. And if KB can keep winning, it will be VERY good for RCR, but most importantly, for the sport as a whole. Let’s face it, a motivated Kyle Busch is money for NASCAR.

Nice job Kyle should have won the 500. You nailed it they wanted the grandson in there, so glad the fans cheered the #8, I did too!

Reply
Spencer Wright March 1, 2023 at 4:07 am

I genuinely believe Gibbs wanting to see his grandson win a cup race before he passes is like a bucket list item for him and that it was a huge pushing factor. He knows it will probably take a few years before it happens plus the fact he’s in his 80s you know he’s thinking like that and that he’s pulling the strings to make it happen. Especially since JDs passing he’s probably been reflecting on life even more and then Coy….just further adds fuel to the fire of bucket list items he wants to cross off.

I think the energy recovery system would be a good thing for them to have at Le Mans to see how would be like and work on a Nascar Stock car because that’s why they switched to the sequential transmission, so that Nascar could potential add a hybrid system to the stock cars
