This is absolute chaos and can’t say I remember something like this happening
Revenge and it is is a bad look for nascar
@TheRetiredtech ?
@98 DogeCoin Car they didn’t choose the 24&48 randomly. It’s retaliation for HMS getting points back
IRL and CART
@TheRetiredtech So obvious, devious and worrying for all the teams moving forward.
Man…NASCAR officals really know how to spice up a week for news and content huh?
It seems to me like sour grapes from nascar. But I could be wrong
I guess it’s true that NASCAR is desperate enough for attention but penalizing one of the big teams isn’t the way to go.
At least they didn’t wait till Friday to announce this
@Cole Murray it is the way to go. The only people that love Hendrick team are geriatrics and do nothing for the sport. 23XI and Trackhouse racing carry a vibe and potential to bring in new crowds and new popularity. Chastain gives the drama, if he actually had a personality like Harvick or Stewart did in their prime the sport would be a lot better
Between the officiating on and off track, the craziness of the appeals panel, and the new tv deal, David Land might be onto something with the split coming
There is gunna be no “split” happening, if the owners decide to leave NASCAR then NASCAR will go by the wayside and whatever er the new series is called will be it, there will not be two major stock car racing series in America guaranteed
@DIY Chad 726 indycar is gonna be awesome with all new teams next year man
@DIY Chad 726If the big owners leave, they will take the big money drivers. I don’t know if Tony would run it, probably be Penske, Hendrick, and Gibbs running it maybe.
David Land wishes for a split so Indycar can overtake NASCAR (which will never happen lmao)
Yeah, NASCAR needs to realize that the business model and the sport’s direction isn’t working. Jim France needs to get off of his damn rocker and start getting more involved. You may not like Brian but at least he was involved with everything.
This is absolutely crazy news………I can’t believe Ross Chastain would do this…
Underrated comment
Lmao
Was he growing watermelons in the back seat ?
Even when Byron has a good pit crew and luck for once in his career he gets slammed by penalties when he’s the top guy in the garage right now
agreed, Byron has been so neglected for years and now when he is coming full force I hope he gets his respect for championship-calibre skill.
@VibrantI hope he wins the title. Or Bowman now.
Can’t wait to see what they come up with for the other two after this weekend
NASCAR is gonna their points out of HMS…lol
Nascar needs to show the infractions. There is an approved modification listed for that part. Show the world what HMS did that was outside of those specs.
Bob Pockrass said it was the area around where the wiper motor is mounted
And supposedly they are showing at the next race in the garage
@HHM567 I’m more interested in the louvers
Exactly after the appeal is heard they need to publicly tell fans what they found!!!
@HHM567they didn’t even put wipers on. If the ran the wet weather package they should of qualified at Richmond on a wet track! Wtf is the point of a wet weather package your never using.
What will be interesting is whether the appeal will be based on the appeals rule at the time of the infraction (Sunday) or the day the rule was changed (today, maybe yesterday). That could determine whether the appeals board has the authority to remove the points or not. Regardless, between NASCAR “randomly” choosing these cars for R&D and announcing the penalties later in the week than usual, after changing the appeals rules, this looks like retaliation -without regard for how they’re manipulating the driver and owner standings, and by extension the outcome of the season. I don’t think, months down the road, this will reflect well on NASCAR. this is going to be a topic of conversation in every playoff race, especially the transfer races.
Clear retaliation, a complete lack of transparency, when nascar doesn’t get their way they just change the rules on the fly, a clear lack of negotiation on nascar with team owners on media deal……. #WatchingNascarDestroyNascar
It depends if HMS broke the rules, which this looks like a clear cut violation.
At some point the money guys are going to stop, and the money will dry up. It’s not a good time when the regular public is having a hard enough time with inflation, now poiltics is coming into play in our entertainment too. SMH please let’s just stop and race. Or at the end of the day the sponsors will dry up and the money will go away. Not that our money is worth much.
Now they have 6 crew chiefs on suspension? Lol
the appeal would be based on the old rules, so it can get completely wiped out by an appeals panel even if they find them guilty
In the old days, when something was found to be wrong or illegal, it was put on display so all of the teams or anyone walking by could see what NASCAR confiscated. It will be interesting to see/hear what the greenhouse violation was. It seems rather odd that NASCAR would pull two cars from the same team too. Weren’t the 5 and 9 inspected at the track? Did they see something on them that smelled bad? To me, not a good look for NASCAR. Has all the earmarks of a witchhunt.
NASCAR’s lack of Credibility is More of a problem than Teams allegedly cheating
Credibility and consistency is foreign to them, remember?
@Cole Murray Exactly
NASCAR’s consistent inconsistencies are unrivaled by any other competitive body.
You ain’t been watching F1 the past couple of years….
Totally unacceptable Rules enforcement
Looking like NASCAR is trying to start a whole new racing series. One where these guys race without them.
I am about done with Nascar, I have been a fan for the last 30 years but it looks to me that they can’t stand to have their feelings hurt and are on a witch hunt. This stinks.
I think Denny has learned the value in “You have the right to remain silent…..”. The selection of the 24 & 48 teams, & the penalties that follows smells like straight out revenge for not winning the appeals, in whole, on the previous penalties/fines or maybe because of the boycott of the meeting with NASCAR over the future deals. As a NASCAR fan since 1979, I would kinda like to get back to driver rivalries, not NASCAR vs. owner rivalries.
Love how NASCAR can and does change the rules anytime someone finds that hole in the rule. This is only done so NASCAR can not get that sheet pulled over their head again. This is the same thing that Steve was talking about last night on HUB. The same thing happened with Hendrick and NASCAR to the point that Kaulig now gets both points and a fine while Hendrick only got a fine with all of their points back.
France family have tooooo much control????
I think we knew the minute 2 HMS cars were “randomly” selected that there was going to be a penalty to both cars. Really seems like Nascar was after them from an outside perspective
Thank you Eric for providing unbiased news
Man those script writers at NASCAR are really doing a good job at keeping this NASCAR season, as an Alex Bowman fan, another penalty is blowing the lead
