Should be Josh Berry in 4
Chase Briscoe in the 14
Ryan Preece in the 41
Zane Smith in the 10.

@High Road MediaGilliland should stay where he is and I reserve the end of the season to make the call on Burton still but yea zane Smith should be with SHR

Zane Smith will go to the 38 in Cup.

I think Stewart-haas racing has some expectations for Josh Berry and I think he will reach there achievements with the new driver in the four

Berrys years of racing experience will be great for filling in the veteran presence being left by Harvick and Almirola

Reply
Jordan Runge May 26, 2023 at 6:46 pm

Almirola has at least 1 year left on his deal

Reply

Especially since their former Cup driver Cole Custer got demoted to the Xfinity Series alongside Riley Herbst, who’s doing better but has largely been kept in top equipment thanks to his family’s money rather than his talent. Especially since he hasn’t won on any NASCAR level.

Josh Berry is above SHR, but i don’t think there will be many opportunities for him in better rides this upcoming season so.. I guess go for it?

Reply
Daboss43 May 26, 2023 at 9:03 pm

If Bell wants out at JGR…That could be an opportunity to switch rides lol

Reply
JBtheExplorer2 May 27, 2023 at 2:34 pm

Agreed. SHR is probably a team that top drivers dont want to land on, but there is always potential to compete for a win at some point.

if Busch is sponsors Josh Berry if he drives the 4 car, I want to see a Berry flavored Busch lol

Busch is sponsoring Chastain starting next season.

Based on AB’s market cap & stock losses in the last couple months they may be looking differently at NASCAR sponsorships these days.

Reply
Ryan Felix May 26, 2023 at 7:55 pm

@Southern Interloper Yuengling should sponsor NASCAR instead!

Bryon Kidder May 26, 2023 at 8:26 pm

Crashtain has been doing everything he can to get that Bud Light sponsorship…lol

I think Chase Briscoe is going to be the new leader at SHR come soon.

Reply
Ka Gg May 26, 2023 at 6:46 pm

Yep. SHR just has to find some speed. He’s a good driver.

Reply
ORB May 27, 2023 at 1:36 pm

Briscoe has a long way to go, he’s super inconsistent and hasn’t lived up to the hype at all

James Scully May 26, 2023 at 6:10 pm

Technically, Kevin Harvick was also a downgrade from Dale Earnhardt Sr. Different circumstances for sure, but going after a short track ace is a smart decision.

Jason Violante May 26, 2023 at 7:47 pm

blah blahh blahh all i hear

Unedited pops May 26, 2023 at 8:22 pm

Dale Sr. didn’t drive for SHR. When Harvick took over for Dale at RCR were under unfortunate circumstances. You’re talking about 2 totally different thing. Berry is replacing Harvick because he’s retiring not because he’s dead.

Reply
Roger Bates May 27, 2023 at 3:38 am

@Unedited pops true and that was also a better team (at the time) than SHR is right now. RCR had Dale in great position to compete for #8 that year and, as you said, his death changed everything. Still, Harvick was walking into a championship caliber team. SHR is going to have to bring their program back to that level again.

Reply
Unedited pops May 27, 2023 at 4:22 am

@Roger Bates  it still was. He was competing for championships while he was there. He finished 8th in the cup standing that year. Not bad for not competing in the Daytona 500. I do believe Dale would have gotten his 8th championship that year. Lucky for Berry he’s stepping into a top team. I would be more worried for him if he was driving one of the other 3 cars at SHR. Josh is driving for a championship crew chief and has experience in those cars which will help to.

This is hopeful… Josh and SHR sound like a good pairing… mature racer, mature team… might be a win-win for both …

Gary Kennedy May 27, 2023 at 2:23 am

I don’t see how it couldn’t be a win win for shr and Josh Berry because it’s the best team that needs a driver in cup and berry wasn’t ever going to get a HMS ride so for Josh this is best team that he could possibly hope to drive for and for shr he is this best driver available

Reply
M Brown May 26, 2023 at 6:16 pm

No doubt he’s good but I think that Hendrick equipment is just as dominant as you can get in this series.

Reply
Aaron Thompson May 26, 2023 at 6:30 pm

I think the best word to describe Berry is “serviceable.” Im a huge Josh Berry fan, but I think he’ll be a consistent top 20 (playoff fringe.) driver in the cup series. Most importantly for SHR is that Berry knows how to look after his equipment, and we’ve seen (in the 9.) that he can guide a rocket ship to a top 5 finish.

I think as long as he can consistently finish 15th on forward he’ll be an asset.

I was against josh at slinger raceway… we were battling for the lead until he gave my the bumper going into turn three. After that I gained alot of respect for him because we were going back and fourth for 50+ laps…

Berry is consistent. That’s what’s got him hyped in combination with his more natural rise through the proverbial ranks. A rare combination, but a welcome one.

Levi Keller May 27, 2023 at 12:15 am

Following Mr. consistent Harvick I like that
