What an absolute crazy move. Legend
What’s sad is those 30 laps near the end we got was pretty solid racing . Bad cautions , but Riley Herbst again with a top 5! Even led laps! His time is coming!
He’s been in top tier equipment since 2019. Quit lying to yourself. Chase Briscoe won over 10 races in this car when there was tighter competition.
@NASCAR JUNK Ok? Why are we all supposed to think everyone is supposed to win immediately? It takes very rare talent to win right away. Not everyone is Sammy Smith , Ty Gibbs and or Joey Logano when they dominate right away.
@NASCAR JUNKyet he’s out performing Cole Custer who everyone thought would dominate this year
Sad thing also is both sides of this argument.. Are valid
Nothing about this track is good racing. It’s a manufactured spectacle and they can’t even do that right.
I didn’t even know that rule existed, Josh had every right to be mad after nascar decided to do a one off enforcement of that rule
Yep
I don’t think any of us knew about that rule
so because it hadn’t been enforced before means they shouldn’t now?
@Jeremiah Hardel Yes its called “precedent”.
I’m just wondering why they haven’t penalized anybody else for throwing water bottles and stuff out of their car just to get a caution
That whole race was a complete mess, I’m glad Josh Williams and Justin Allgaier called out this style of racing, and NASCAR’s officating.
We never asked for pack racing at Atlanta!.. Whoever is deciding this in the organization are nothing but clowns!.. It’s horrible racing at this track!..
It’s the WORST
legend has it that Josh Williams has eaten a pizza while waiting in the nascar officiating hauler.
Legend has it he took a nap after finishing off said NASCAR official..
What??
Imagine being the delivery guy
Legend has it Josh Williams is celebrating with Snakes and Sparklers
One of the most savage moments in Nascar history
Nascar got the spectacle it wanted when it repaved Atlanta.
I hope Josh takes a page from Alex Bowman’s book and gets some T-shirts made.
Josh Williams’ park and wave might not have been quite as gangsta as Rusty Wallace showing up to pay a $5,000.00 fine with a Brinks armored truck full of half a million pennies, but damn if it didn’t make me laugh just as hard.
Dale Earnhardt Sr gave rusty the idea
@GA Hullbilly Ranchthat is amazing lmfao
@TheSDagger Dale interrupted Rusty tv interview & offered to pay the fine. But rusty refused the offer. Then Dale told him (in a private conversation)how to pay nascar.
@GA Hullbilly Ranch Yeah I heard he said “it sucks you got screwed, and you want me to pay the fine” that is what Earnhardt said to him before Rusty’s post race interview.
Legendary move by Josh Williams. He protested for all the fans that are tired of Nascar’s crap.
#FreeJoshWilliams
Nascar parked him for dropping tape on the track, are you kidding me, cars go out on the track clinkin’ and clankin’ and leaking oil all over the track and Nascar never parks them. Come on man.
The Hamlin penalty is already bad enough
@JGR4LIFE If anyone in the history of automobile racing ever deserved a penalty, it was Hamlin. He’s a child playing at an adult sport.
That ruling about Williams made me physically sick I never remember nascar parking guy for a piece of debris before made even worse when just a few years ago chase Elliot was driving around the track with his bumper barely attached eventually creating the caution HE needed
Sometimes nascar really ps off with there stupid rulings
And I’m so glad I’m not the only one who noticed how absurdly long the cautions were even in the truck race I swear the one caution where the 51 spun and didn’t even hit anything took forever
That’s the exact same incident that came to my mind was Chase Elliott with his bumper barely hanging on, and he didn’t get parked. Way to go Josh Williams. A justified response. Gave it in a respectable way with a peace sign and not something else.
@Marty006 don’t forget William Byron having his rear bumper hanging off in the 21 Daytona 500, which fell off and caused Quinn Houff and Chase Briscoe to collide into each other.
Road Courses have different rules about that, they said it multiple times during that race involving Chase and addressed it after the race too. Apparent no one paid attention
@JKS91 Gaming yeah, because 5 extra braking points in a 50% oval track configuration will totally make a debri harmless to the other cars, especially in the backstretch. I’m not a Tony Stewart fan but he said it best in his 2012 Talladega post race interview lol
normally they just caution and thats it but forcing him to go to the garage is pathetic
Loved what Josh did. Eyes on him now. Idk why NASCAR insists so heavily to skip practice, but that needs to change soon.
*teams. Fixed it for you.
they spent 2 years without practice….and things turned out fine
@jabber1990 yeah having it for the next gen car was the main thing since it was a whole new car, that would’ve helped with quite a few of the issues the car had.
I left my house around lap 30 knowing I’d be back in an hour and a half and would probably catch the last few laps. I was SHOCKED to get home and be only on lap 85 and no rain delay
At least Stage 3 was normal with “just” the 2 cautions.
Would NASCAR penalize a Hendricks or Childress driver similarly? HELL NO, THEY WOULD NOT!
They told Josh Williams to park the car. He was only doing what they told him to do it. They just didn’t tell him where. That’s as good as a place as any.
Josh did a great job…parking his car on the checkers gave his sponsors so much camera time….more then what would be under green…great job!!!
Adam Alexander “early tonight I asked you what your favorite moment was in the history of this Atlanta race… “ Daniel and Joey – “this one” “from now on”. Even the announcers knew how messed up the Josh Williams penalty was… I really hope Denny does take care of that fine for him.
Thank you Josh for making this soap opera called nascar enjoyable to watch. Hoping the SRX will bring back racing!
