Chase Briscoe did not have a great race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600. FOr much of the race he ran outside the top 20 and even at points ran outside of the top 30. But this did not matter as after the race the #14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford was sent to the NASCAR R&D center for further inspection where NASCAR found a counterfeit part and levied a major penalty to the team. We look at this and the ripples from it in this video. NASCAR destroys Chase Briscoe with a major penalty.

Do you think Briscoe and SHR can recover from this massive penalty?
I’m so frustrated with SHR rn
Nope
Nope, there done
No, not for the rest of the season
Not a good week to be named Chase
Maybe he will change it to Follow.
Maybe they’re going after drivers with ‘Chas’ in their name and Ross Chastain is next.
YOU’RE TELLING ME!
Imagine using an illegal part to only end up running outside the top 20 (and getting passed by guys like BJ McLeod)
imagine not knowing it’s passed not past
@Tyler Bonenfant oops. I forgort.
@Tyler Bonenfant Imagine not using capitals at the start. Or punctuation.
@TheBig4Fan07 imagine taking me seriously
And to add a huge penalty on top of that? Talk about adding insult to injury…
I’m having a hard time determining who’s having a worse season LMC or SHR
por qué no los dos (why not both)
Both are becoming the equivalent of the “Mr. Irrelevant” in the NFL draft.
I don’t know how Stewart-Haas will stay competitive when Kevin Harvick leaves. He’s carried that team ever since his 1st year in the 4 in 2014.
Maybe switching back to Chevy helps? But yes I agree
2018 and 2020, all four cars made the playoffs, and Kurt Busch had some decent seasons. Briscoe last year was good, but ya Harvick has carried lots of times.
Hate to say it, but at this point I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to see Tony retract his presence in NASCAR in the semi near future. Such a awfully unsuccessful stent for SHR
Clint mentioned one of the Haas guys and it took a solid ten seconds of awkward silence before Tony could answer. I think it’s been an exhausting endeavor
I agree. Gene Haas has always had more say than Tony. I remember in 2014 when Gene hired Kurt Busch to drive the 41 car, Tony was furious. But Gene put “Haas Automation” on the hood & paid to sponsor him.
I would love to Tony walk away ….. the sport has gone to total sh*t !!!!!!
If any SHR driver not named Kevin Harvick has to cheat to get a top 20 SHR as we know it won’t exist in five years
Or it was an arbitrary piece that made 0 difference.
Hendrick be like: Damn son even we didn’t get hit that hard
NASCAR didn’t just throw the book at them, they brought down the entire bookshelf
They dropped the entire Library building on them.
I guess you can say… No Chase in the Chase..
Wow! SHR is going to be a MESS without Harv!!! What a DISASTER!
When you say it didn’t help Chase in “this race”, you suggest Chase only used the part once. All we know is that he got caught here. This was a random inspection.
As the AP says:
“The violation was found in a random inspection at NASCAR’s R&D Center in Concord the day after Briscoe finished 17th at Charlotte on Monday night. NASCAR randomly selects two cars to take back to its facility for a more thorough inspection, which is particularly important for policing the new Next Gen car.”
it could have been here for quite a while. It’s likely it was used in every race where it would be helpful.
Briscoe: struggling to crack the top 10 all year and ran 30th with a still illegal car
NASCAR: PARRY THIS YOU FUCKING CASUAL *Drops wrath of god*
As a Briscoe fan, this may be a blessing in disguise. Klausmeier has been awful and they needed a change. Maybe they can find their future crew chief in the next 6 weeks.
As an F1 fan in addition to NASCAR, this is basically the NASCAR version of Crashgate in terms of the punishment handed out, though the penalty handed out to Briscoe’s crew chief was nothing compared to the punishment handed out to Flavio Briatore the team principal at Renault who basically got a lifetime ban from F1 for his actions that was only removed when a French court overturned it. Between this. Tony Stewart being increasingly disinterested in NASCAR and another awful year for Haas F1, it isn’t a good time to be Gene Haas.
I really feel bad for the garage worker for SHR who definitely got fired for that mistake
