Crazy bold prediction: Dale Jr finds a way to get a charter to field a cup car w Josh Berry driving
I’m thinking he buys the 77 and switches it to the 88.
@willgriffin5647 definitely a possibility, especially if Spire wants to grow their program and focus on Lajoie
Rick Ware has two Charters that he doesn’t deserve, NASCAR can take it and sell it to JRM if they wanted to…lol
@Bryon Kidder That’s an absurd breach of contract.
@Crafton Fan It actually isn’t…NASCAR retains the right to remove a charter if a team places in the bottom three spots of the owner standings for three years in a row…RWR has had no problem doing such.
I hope Berry gets a Cup ride
I think with Berry’s 2nd place finish at Richmond he is definitely ready for a full time cup ride in a race winning team.
corey lajoie promotion, berry to spire
@Delcrew or he can replace Ty Dillon
Well yeah he finished there…….. But he didn’t run anywhere near there thru the day, pit strategy got him up there late and as the theme has been lately, once ya get up front some way some how, it’s hard to get passed
@Delcrew Promotion? Whos CL to go, though?
A driver I hope eventually makes it to Cup in the future is Ryan Truex. For a rookie making only a few starts in Xfinity a year, he’s done pretty well imo. Hopefully he can become competitive in Xfinity and make it to Cup in the next few years.
Ryan Truex isn’t a rookie, he’s been around for ever, hes like 30 what are you talking about?
@No I’m Dirty Dan agree with you
Yeah. He is 31 years old with 87 xfinity starts. He ran a full season with kaulig in 2018 and also has 2 full truck seasons as well.
Ryan Truex has 26 Cup starts with a best finish of 20th.
I just raced him on Iracing a few days ago lol
Definitely need to get Josh Berry into the cup series!
@Jeff Yoder lol yeah that was my racing nickname here in California growing up with Matt DiBenedetto and Kyle Larson racing outlaw karts…
Zane Smith deserves a full time cup ride
An Xfinity ride? Yes. Cup ride? No.
I’d love to see berry go to the 4
Zane and Josh are drivers that deserve to be in cup fulltime next year
We shall see what 2024 has in store
John Hunter Nemecheck to the 18 cup car coming back. He is essentially the guy I think Kyle Busch intended to replace him when he was done cup racing. I also think it’s a big slap in the face to Ty Gibbs if he gets overlooked for the 18’s return.
Berry deserves to be a cup driver no matter what manufacturer he goes with. If I could have my wish, it would be Berry staying with Chevy. The best case would be if JRM moved to cup and maybe be a satellite team to Hendrick or like they do now just get their engines from HMS. At least I think that’s what they do.
If the charters didn’t exist or they paid the open cars better and expanded the field back to 43 cars, there would be spots for some up and coming talents.
Yes, Yes, Yes!
Josh Berry either JRM with new charter (someone made a great point on 78 charter) or SHR 4 car. Riley Herbst reminds me of Danica, a lot of coverage and Hoopla, no wins, John Hunter to JGR 19, may have to wait till 2025, but he’s shown patience. Custer …nope, Zane and Chandler Smith are SUPERSTARS
Dale Jr. is not doing anything until the new TV deal is done. He is not dumb. And Nascar is saying they want to do away with the charters.
Austin Hill definitely has the best knock out punch. That made me a fan for sure.
Just won the pole for the xfinity race by about .25 seconds.
Brennan Poole was on the older side for a rookie when he came into the Cup Series.
Yeah but that was with RWR who just needed a solid driver in that seat no netter the age
Would love to see Zane get the #4 car.
Josh Berry has so many ties to JRM, including being a huge part of the late model program, that I don’t see him going too far away from JRM. However, if Dale Jr and Kelley ever field a cup car, I could easily see him in it. I feel like Zane is the best bet for the 4 car, although I could see Tony taking a chance on Corey LaJoie, and I’d love to see what Corey could do with better equipment
I think Josh Berry is definitely the best Prospect to step up. As you mentioned Greg Biffle, I will never forget when Benny Parsons referred him to Roush and he went on to have a successful career. I would love to see Josh take over my favorite drivers ride
Sammy Smith should be mentioned too, although he’s in his 1st season as well in Xfinity, he’s impressed a ton in the 18, he has a lot of sponsorship backing, and like Eric said, there could be 2 open JGR cars and i’m sure JGR does not want to lose him to a rival team
