I’m so happy for lajoie really rooting for him this weekend!!!!

Yeah I was bummed that chase did that but after reading that Corey will drive the 9 I’m actually excited.

I really wasn’t sure Nascar would be brave enough to suspend Elliott, but it’s good to see them uphold their rules and apply them equally

Reply
HarryCrumb May 30, 2023 at 11:58 pm

Lol it’s a perceived notion that they wouldn’t.

Christopher kasebier May 31, 2023 at 12:09 am

It’s funny they keep digging themselves a hole Nascar needs Elliott Elliot doesn’t need nascar

Reply
S.W.E. Racing May 31, 2023 at 12:13 am

EQUALLY? Denny ran the 9 into the well right. As the rule states both are in violation of the rule. They both should be parked….

Reply
David Wright May 31, 2023 at 12:24 am

@Christopher kasebier nascar don’t need Elliott, he’s living on his daddy’s name

@S.W.E. Racing
Dude, don’t be dumb. There’s a difference. Hamlin accidentally squeezed Elliot. Elliot did it on purpose.

This is great

Corey LaJoie needs a solid top 10 finish out of this opportunity. It’ll be great for him to show what he can do with tier 1 equipment.

John Snow May 31, 2023 at 2:57 am

Hailey Deegan did awesome in her one Xfinity ride this year. Corey can kick butt with Hedrick tech on the set up

Reply
MegaMr46 May 31, 2023 at 6:59 am

Or he can get a win to get in the playoffs

Reply
John Snow May 31, 2023 at 7:06 am

@MegaMr46 Naw it won’t count because it’s not in his car number. It would put Hendricks in the playoffs not spire

Reply
Nathan Middaugh May 31, 2023 at 7:18 am

@John Snowit would put the 9 and Lajoie in the playoffs. There are two playoffs. And in the ultimate turn of irony, that could be the move that would keep the 7 out of the championship hunt.

Reply
Allan Smith May 31, 2023 at 7:41 am

If he wins in the 9 car, he will be in the playoffs driving the 7. The car number only matters when it comes to the owners championship. Also if he wins in the 9, the 9 team WILL NOT be in the playoffs. It’s only if the DRIVER who won is driving that car. A playoff eligible driver could drive a different car every week through the playoffs with a different number every week

How do you think Corey LaJoie will do at Gateway this weekend?

At least Lajoie is getting this opportunity in competitive equipment and should use this as an audition maybe for the 10 if Almirola retires.

Reply
Easy E Network May 31, 2023 at 12:45 am

Don’t think it will matter. That car has not been terribly fast.

Reply
TwinSpinner May 31, 2023 at 12:53 am

@Easy E Network as a diehard Chase fan, I have a sneaky suspicion that it is less on the car, and more on Chase being slightly rusty/risk averse after coming back from the broken leg. He finished 2nd at auto club, so that car is definitely still one of the fastest

Reply
Lord_Foxy13 May 31, 2023 at 1:22 am

That would be an awesome paring, especially if Smithfield stays with the 10

Reply
Marco Strange May 31, 2023 at 1:50 am

I think I heard that LaJoie has a multi year contract. Not sure when Almirola is going to leave, but I do hope when that happens and Lajoie does good in the 9, that SHR will at least consider him for the 10.

Reply
DIY Chad 726 May 31, 2023 at 3:15 am

@Marco Strange ah we have seen that contracts being in place don’t mean much if the other team is willing or whatever to buy out the contract

Reply
Nick May 30, 2023 at 11:29 pm

This chain reaction of events from Chase’s suspension is crazy

Reply
Gary Jackson May 31, 2023 at 2:46 am

If Xfinity wasn’t out on the left coast this weekend, Berry would be in the 9, so this is a great opportunity for LaJoie to drive a top tier car.

Reply
Trey Lance May 31, 2023 at 10:10 am

@Gary Jackson left coast? Never heard it called that before

The amount of mental gymnastics nascar/chase fans put on display on twitter to justify why this incident is different than the bubba/larson incident was truly astounding.

Reply
Belly of the Beast May 31, 2023 at 4:20 am

YouTube – Blaze Alexander…That’s the first thing that came to my mind. That is why Chase was suspended.

Reply
Alan Davis May 31, 2023 at 8:16 am

The only thing different is he didnt get out and assault a guy half his size.

Reply
Damon Davis May 31, 2023 at 10:16 am

The optics on Bubba’s was way worse IMO. But totally agree that Chase had to sit

Reply
Big Smoke May 31, 2023 at 12:35 am

Reply

Wow, it will be interesting to see how Corey does in the 9. I hope he does really well!

Reply
TekuTaurus May 31, 2023 at 1:20 am

This is going to be the most important race of Corey’s career. The car and team are more than capable of winning. We will see if Corey really is capable too.

Reply
David S May 31, 2023 at 5:41 am

Not as capable as the 5 and 24 but yes hope he does well

Reply
Buddy Deal May 31, 2023 at 12:18 pm

If NASCAR suspended every driver that wrecked another driver, there would be half a dozen substitute drivers in every race. I’ve been a NASCAR fan since the days of Harry Gant and it is pitiful to see how attitudes have shifted towards making racing the equivalent of touch football. You are an example of that.

Reply
James Moon May 31, 2023 at 1:32 pm

@Buddy Deal I agree. There going to start having to suspend a lot of drivers now since their putting their selves in a box with this suspension but I bet they just pick and choose who they want to suspend as always in each situation.

Reply
David S May 31, 2023 at 1:40 pm

@Buddy Deal ohhh I miss those days of racing, But time marches on and it seems everyone wants drivers to have a safe space around them at all times

Reply
Ken Faught May 31, 2023 at 2:11 pm

@Buddy Deal and how many times should Denny have been suspended…when he does it to someone its oppsss or its just racing…or payback….chase gives payback and denny cries foul

Reply
James Biggs May 31, 2023 at 2:04 am

Is it just me? Does Denny ever make a week without being part of the story.

Reply
GunnyNinja June 1, 2023 at 4:23 am

Why is that important here? He could have been killed hitting the way that way. It has happened before. Let’s stay focused.

Eric, just gotta say man you do an awesome job of wrapping this pieces up well and framing them nicely. As a non-american trying to follow the NASCAR series you make it sooo much easier with getting everything out quickly and in such easily watchable format. Thanks man!

Dennis Hamlin always runs ‘his line’ on every track, and if he wrecks someone doing that…thats racing. When someone is running ‘their line’ in front of Dennis, he thinks its perfectly fine to punt them, and hes done it numerous times.
