Kyle Petty is the last person to talk about not living up to full potentials.

True, but he’s also not wrong

Or maybe he’s the best one for that very reason. Sadly, he does not sound that humble.

He has been close to more titles than Blaney.

Blaney will live to his full potential once his pit crew lives up to their full potential.

Cardboard cutouts of JGR crew members would be faster than the 12 crew. They screw RB constantly

I don’t like blaney “because he’s in a Ford” but he is nowhere from his full potential the kid can drive!

Reply
Jake March 7, 2023 at 5:29 pm

I think Kyle is misunderstood, he is basically saying yrb has a ton of potential. People really like yrb and want to see him win more and believe he can win more.

I don’t care for him personally. I know a lot of my beaver friends don’t care for rb either. We call him “no show Blaney”

If Ryan keeps running like this, he’ll never reach Kasey’s win total.

I’ve said it over and over. NASCAR needs an app that will broadcast the race broadcast every week. I will pay $20 a month during the season to get that. I’m not getting cable to just watch NASCAR.

Reply
Hue March 8, 2023 at 3:05 am

@JGR4LIFE This will be his first Cup start. It’ll be a blast seeing 2 road course racers of Kimi and Jordan’s quality get a shot in some really great equipment.

Hopefully Kimi doesn’t get wrecked again and can showcase his talents more. And with Taylor working on the Garage 56 entry, I could see him contending, that is if he avoids any trouble.

To me Blaney has always seemed like an afterthought at Penske and especially now with Cindric and Logano being his teammates. Austin is there long term because of his father and Joey being who he is and success. On a random note I’ve heard RFK would like to expand to a three car team and would get the charter from RWR seeing they provide cars and technical assistance this would benefit both teams greatly.

Reply
Rafael Placce March 7, 2023 at 5:54 pm

Blaney just inked a multyear deal with Penske in the off season

Reply
John March 8, 2023 at 7:30 am

Where else would he have went? It was a renewed but hardly a raise.

Reply
Mia and Reggie March 8, 2023 at 2:28 pm

I have to say, even though they’re all there because of daddy, Cindric seems the one who isn’t going to produce.

Reply
JBtheExplorer2 March 8, 2023 at 4:55 pm

I disagree. Remember, Penske started up a third car just to add Blaney to his roster. You don’t invest that much for an afterthought. And while Austin has the benefit of nepotism, he hasn’t shown that he’s better than Blaney. I mean, Blaney runs well. His car has speed. But for whatever reason, either driver, team, or a combination of the two, they just can’t figure out how to get wins as often as they should.

Cade Stout March 7, 2023 at 5:54 pm

As a longtime Kahne and now Blaney fan, the comparison is uncanny

Reply

Ryan Blaney is a great driver. You just have to look at the 21 car’s results over the last 20 years and you can see just looking at numbers when Ryan was in the car.

Reply
The Spotter's Stand March 7, 2023 at 6:05 pm

I think KP woukd be right if Ryan was hyped up to be the next big thing, but he really wasn’t. Chase Elliott was the most hyped guy from that class of young drivers. Ryan’s doing perfectly fine. He needs to win a few more races, but he still outruns 80% of the competitive field every week.

Reply
Brandon Gauger March 8, 2023 at 2:40 am

Ryan has done above average. Chase just has had a much better and easier way of it. Once Ryan gets cars that don’t suck, he will rack off wins

People just doesn’t know how hard it is to win a race. And Kayne had the worst luck always getting caught up in someone else’s wreck’s.

Reply
Robb j March 8, 2023 at 7:41 pm

Yes but Kayne was racing w several concussions under his belt. And was trying to suck it up his last 2 yrs. His spotter even to this day says kasey shouldn’t be racing sprint cars. Said that on door bumper clear.

What’s interesting to me is that Blaney seems to have more consistent speed than Logano, or at least they’re comparable, but Joey is able to convert more of his opportunities into wins. I think it comes down to execution and performance in crucial moments where he lags behind a bit.

Reply
C Chap March 7, 2023 at 6:44 pm

I agree with this. Blaney is more consistent but Logano wins more. Blaney reminds me of Jeff Gordon in his later years, won occasionally, but always finished consistently good. Unfortunately in this format that doesn’t win championships.

I am a Blaney fan. Kyle Petty was my first favorite driver (I mean I was named after him). Kyle is correct about Blaney so far, but as we all know drivers don’t usually hit their prime until their 30s. 2021 and 2022 were fantastic years for Blaney so he’s trending in the right direction, IMO. I think the future is bright for him.

@Jason Ratcliff Not really, look at the last 10 years of champions. Outside of Chase they’re all at least 28 and have many years under their belts.

I am 75 yrs. old and have been a NASCAR fan for many years. For the last few years, I have been watching YouTube to get information and opinions concerning NASCAR. I’ve watched many different people who have shows all about NASCAR. You have the best content, the most truthful, best produced, and best presented NASCAR based show on YouTube, in my opinion. Keep up the good work. Many people appreciate it much.

Ryan Blaney is one of my favorites out there right now… and I can’t disagree. I think he absolutely has championship level potential, and he’s got plenty of time yet to realize it, but it’s time for him to turn the corner and bring it home. He’s driving for the flagship Ford team. How many guys have we seen through the years get a shot at a competitive team and just never quite live up to it? I’d hate to see that with Blaney, running for some mid pack team a few years down the line wondering what could have been.

Reply
Lance McSwain March 7, 2023 at 10:04 pm

Great analysis, as usual Eric! I’d add one more facet to the ratings being down and that’s Fox’s insistence on missing half the laps due to commerical breaks. It’s about to cause me to tune out cause a break every 10 laps and being gone for almost the same amount is torture! At least go split screen all race. Pathetic!

Jonathan Kraus March 7, 2023 at 10:42 pm

As someone who was a Ryan Blaney fan from when Jr retired until Chastain got into the Cup Series, Blaney would be able to show his potential if he wasn’t given the worst strategy and pit crew in the sport.

Always strong, never strong enough. This sums up what Blaney’s career has been so far. Really consistent – always within top-10 unless caught with some driver-unrelated problem – but never showed a dominant perfomance. And the crushing fact that he failed to make to victory lane in a Penske car in a season in which 19 different drivers did it.

Reply
TJTheJetUS2 March 8, 2023 at 8:07 pm

Blaney is my favorite driver. Has been since ‘17. I think one issue is that he’s a consistency driver I feel. Runs top 5 top 10, wins a stage, finishes 7th goes home. You gotta remember that there were times he was 2nd in points. Sadly, todays day in age winning is most important and he’s struggled with that. If you really look at his wins, I don’t think he’s ever just had a boring win. It’s always a restrictor plate track or a last lap pass. I feel like the kahne comparison is correct right now, but if he win 4 races and a championship out of no where I wouldn’t be surprised.
