Glad he’s coming back this week! Much respect to Josh Berry for the great races. Hope he gets to drive cup soon.
Agreed! Josh and the fill-in crew chief really earned their keep!!!
Imagine Berry in the 84 (minus JJs races) for the season. Would benefit Berry as far as seat time in the car, and probably benefit that team too, considering his hendrick knowledge now
@Blaise Michael I know I’m a day late but that’s actually a really cool idea.
Loved seeing Chase on The Pat McAfee Show, cool seeing NASCAR being discussed by different platforms
It was really cool seeing Chase on the Pat Mcafee show today. Kudos to NASCAR for trying something to reach a younger demographic
Whoa now I gotta go watch that interview
Plenty of us old MOUNTAINEERS watch MACAFEE DAILY!!! BIGHER CROSSOVER than u might think!!!
That’s the only real interview that I watched as soon as I seen it.
I’m happy Chase is back in the car but I was hoping for one more Josh Berry run. Josh runs well at Martinsville and it would be badass if he could pull off a win.
I hear ya
thats why Chase was in such a hurry to return
Yeah Josh could have killed it at Martinsville. Would have been fun to watch
@steve miller scared he’d wreck the car again
0% that josh would have won this race.
Happy to see Chase Elliott return!
Keep in mind Larson was driving a mid pack car the first 6 or 7 seasons of his career before going to Hendrick
Can I say Berry really did prove himself. Also I think this race would’ve been the big one for him. I think if he could’ve won he’d be in cup a lot faster
100%
Josh would have finished better than chase will
Really hope Josh Berry replaces chase. He’s a way better driver and actually has personality unlike chase.
Josh Berry has to be one of the next dudes waiting for Chevy to call up based on his performance. Put him in a decent car and he can run top 20 every week.
@671 Tech Reviews yeah. He should honestly replace Chase Elliott. Josh actually cares about the sport unlike chase who wants to goof off and snowboard during regular season and drink Mountain Dew on his couch!
As Brad Keselowski put it at the end of Phoenix in 2021, “Anyone who wins 10 races in a year deserves the championship”. And this from a driver who had just lost it to Larson, who had benefited from a spectacular pit stop…thus proving that Cup Racing truly is a team sport. But in the end, Larson put himself in that position by winning and winning and winning…
Glad to see chase back in the 9 car too bad won’t see josh Barry perform at Martinsville this weekend.
You can still watch him race in Xfinity…he’ll still be there performing, just not in Cup
Berry’s run in Richmond and the expectations for a Martinsville performance is exactly why Chase returned early
Glad to see chase Elliot back this weekend at martinsville. Hopefully he’ll have a good run this weekend. I would’ve liked to see josh berry in a competitive ride at martinsville. But he’ll get his opportunity soon. Weather that’s in a full-time season or on a part time schedule. But again just glad to see Chase Elliot back behind the wheel of the hendrick Motorsport’s no.9 Chevrolet Camaro.
Glad Chase is healing well enough to return, but I was looking forward to Josh Berry getting a chance in that 9 at Martinsville so I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just a little disappointed. Glad he’s back tho, Chase is genuinely a good guy that is invaluable to the Cup series and racing in general. Josh did one hell of a job tho in a car he’d never sat in before and he’s going to get even more opportunities after what he’s done the past few weeks. Berry could absolutely take that 9 to victory lane at Martinsville. Josh is a guy that could battle for wins weekly very soon and win cup championships. He’s an exceptional talent, sharp and fast, plus he brings sponsors by running up front and being popular. He’d be the 2nd most popular driver in cup real quick, and is the only driver that could possibly match or surpass Elliotts popularity and let’s be honest, that’s very important. Also, it should not surprise anyone if Chase wins this Sunday. No doubt he’s been focused on this week and they’re plenty capable.
Although it would’ve been fun seeing Berry run the 9 at Martinsville, I’m happy Chase is back. I believe he’ll be in the top 5 contending for a win.
I do think we’ll see some inconsistency through the next few weeks.. but Chase could definitely get a few wins before the playoffs.
I’m kinda was/am in the same boat as Chase Elliott. I tore my acl with meniscus damage around the same time of his accident 5 weeks ago
It’s also my left leg too.
And I was getting in my prime for my sport in Ninja Warrior so I relate a bit on what Chase is going through.
His return to his sport makes me excited for when I can return to my sport
I hope Todd doesn’t get kicked out of his ride next season. He’s been getting good results this year.
Kind of reminds me of the 21 car and Matt D being replaced by the Burton kid. Was that worth it? Matt was getting way better
results, hell he even made it into the chase one year.
Josh Berry is one hell of a talented driver. I was impressed how he got better and better each week. I’m definitely impressed with the results.
I know the first race didn’t go how he wanted but I hoped he would get another chance.
I’m a chase fan for sure but I was also wish Josh had a ride to drive this weekend as well. Hopefully soon.
Glad Chase is back, would’ve liked to have seen Josh at Martinsville and eventually see him get a Cup ride, and no problem with Kyle being named to the 75 but I think they should’ve announced him after some more retired drivers first.
YES! THANK YOU! WELCOME BACK, CHASE! Also can we get Berry into a seat ASAP?!
As for both topics
Chase still might need Josh Berry just in case if his leg feels numb, and for Cody Ware’s situation…Carson has been reinstated to come back last June and Rick might get his son to come back.
Josh Berry did great with the opportunity. Everyone was coming up with a million other ideas to cover for Chase after that first race he missed, but I was glad Josh got it.
As far as the conversation we all beat to death in the wake of this about mitigating risk off-track… like anything NASCAR is unique. The definition of the sport is doing inherently lethal things with cars at high speed. In stick and ball sports there’s obviously freak accidents and injuries and such but it’s just different. My adrenaline pumps when I’m coming up the entrance ramp behind a bus and jump from 30 to 75 MPH. Race car drivers are adrenaline junkies of the highest order, and they’ll have to find outlets for that. That said I think it’s very reasonable for the stakeholders that commit millions of dollars to a race team to expect the drivers to maybe take it easy with extracirricular stuff off track. Racing other series is one thing, but… I don’t know. I get both sides of the coin.
