Nothing like a good late morning OOTG episode
thinking about the open wheel surge that happened in the late-2000s and early-2010s
I think Jensen Button racing at COTA is a great way for him to practice Le Mans
I knew Jenson would be at CotA, I only thought it’d be for Trackhouse.
@ChrisBl33p. I thought that he would drive the #84 since he’s involved with the Garage 56 car alongside Jimmie Johnson but whatever. To be honest, I don’t think he’ll do well cuz he’s driving for the most irrelevant team of NASCAR, Rick freaking Ware Racing.
@Cole Murray normally, that’d be true. But, for this race, they will have support from SHR.
@ChrisBl33p. Yeah but you, me, and everyone damn well knows that SHR isn’t a top Ford team like Team Penske since Kevin Harvick won 9 races for them back in 2020. SHR is on a DEEP decline and they don’t have the speed like they used to back in 2020. What I’m saying is that Jenson should’ve went with someone else like gee I dunno LMC cuz it makes more sense.
@Cole Murray Harvick and Briscoe have done some great things in that car, and yeah, they’re great drivers, so a great driver such as JB can take that car to solid positions.
Jordan Taylor has been doing a bunch of work testing the Garage 56 entry! I expect him to be very very strong at COTA!
I love Jordan Taylor I hope he gets to finish the race. I feel like guest drivers always get caught up in a wreck.
Yeah I think so but we’ll figure it out in a couple of weeks
He’ll Be Fast
He won’t finish the race
@Ashley That’s because they are in the back of the pack most of the time and that they don’t know how to avoid a wreck in a big metal brick.
I’ll be at COTA, it’s gonna be a fantastic weekend for Nascar can’t wait!!!!
Jenson Button,Kimi Raikkonen,Jordan Taylor,Conor Daly those are 4 incredibly talented And accomplished Open wheel stars. Nascar is alive and well right now and it’s great to see.
I’m not sure if “incredibly talented and and accomplished open wheel star” is how I’d describe Conor Daly
@KnapfordFan 23 Fair, but Daly has won a few junior Championships in Europe and he is a star in terms of popularity.
But true he’s not on the level of the other guys but he’s still a big name.
@Bobby Blair Yeah but Conor hasn’t won an IndyCar race, yet. He’s like the Corey LaJoie of IndyCar. Conor seems like a nice guy, Corey seems like a nice guy, too. Conor is in a team that isn’t really competitive, Corey is in a team that isn’t really competitive. Conor hasn’t won a race, Corey hasn’t won a race and of course, they both came so close winning their first race. See the similarities between them?
2 F1 champions, 2 Sportscar champions, and 1 IndyCar driver in the NASCAR race at COTA. I love the crossover. COTA needs to stay on the schedule. As for Hendrick, glad their drivers are getting more track time through Trucks and Xfinity.
All we need now is an oval race at F1.
I would love to see Kimi or Jenson run an oval race. I know Jenson says he’s dead set against it, but I’d love to see it. I think it would be interesting.
It was news to me but Eric said Jenson apparently wants to test at an oval….so maybe?
Just so they can wreck out at an oval?
Well his close friend Wheldon died in an oval race, so it’s understandable he’s not a fan of ovals.
I could see him racing a short track oval, not a big one or super speedway
Ive thought for a long time that nascar should have discipline champions based off each track type kind of like how indycar did back in the early 2010’s. If nascar handed out season long road course, superspeedway, intermediate, and short track champions we would see more ringers come in and it would make things more interesting on TV.
add on a “grand slam” consisting of crown jewel races on each type: cota, daytona 500, coke 600, and southern 500
Went to COTA last year and had a great time….was already planning on going again this year….AND being that I’m also an F1, IndyCar and sports car fan, having all these other drivers is just icing on the cake, can’t wait!!!!
I know the odds are very small but I’d love to see Marcus Ambrose come back for a race in next gen
i would too, but ambrose is retired as a driver and currently a crew chief for a supercar team in australia.
Nice to see new drivers come to the Cup Series for these road course races and other races too! Also, nice paint scheme for William Byron’s HendrickCars truck for KBM!
I hope in the future I’ll see more international drivers. Maybe, running full time!
As a young nascar fan who got into racing through nascar and now follows nascar, indycar, f1, and motogp, i have to give nascar credit for being so proactive recently with tracks, teams, drivers, fans, rules packages etc. trust me I understand nascar has so many issues I wish they would solve but the sport is clearly healthy and improving rapidly since i watched in 2015 and it’s refreshing to see how nascar handles things compared to open wheel and two wheeled sanctioning bodies. I just wish nascar could stabalize its rules and some other things to keep legitimacy from year to year. Happy to see all the buzz around COTA recently.
For all it’s faults NASCAR seems to actually want to make a good product on the track
As a Brit finally good to see someone on the grid from my part of the world. I predicted when Project91 was announced that 1 day he’d do Sonoma in that he now lives in LA & he’s always raced sportscars & the new car being more sports car it was a matter of time.
Hearing Jonathan Davenport getting a good opportunity in NASCAR is so awesome to hear! Anyone who knows dirt racing knows he can drive. You don’t just get a name Superman!
I would’ve like to seen him race the first dirt race they had with the new car. Most were also still learning the new car. So seeing the different skill sets in new equipment and how each performed would’ve been cool to watch.
Really hope jenson has a good race, always was my favourite f1 driver growing up
Love that NASCAR has such track diversity and Le Mans effort too!! B. – – NASCAR FAN – – Gardner
