Can’t believe in 2023 RCR is a championship contender again

@TheBig4Fan07 man if bad luck doesn’t continue for Brad I can see him breaking the winless streak. Not a fan of his AT ALL but he seems to have really grown since becoming an owner and moved away from Penske

For sure guys, and I think K and Buescher have shown a lot of improvement compared to last year. Could very well be playoff contenders if they can get more consistent finishes, especially Brad

Kyle Busch is a championship 4 contender and I won’t be surprised if he makes it that far

Reply
Horror Buff June 5, 2023 at 3:50 am

Kyle is actually my favorite at the moment to win it all.

Reply
Harrison Strother June 5, 2023 at 4:41 am

@Horror Buff if RCR wasn’t so terrible at short flats since next gen then I would probably have him as my favorite as well. Paper clip and PHX last 2 races really hurts that 8 team. I’ll ride with Larson. If the 4 makes the final 4 he could go out on a champ win

Reply
Fw_Wyatt June 5, 2023 at 4:48 am

@Harrison Strother if the short track program for rcr improves they def would be the favorite

Reply
Harrison Strother June 5, 2023 at 4:55 am

@Fw_Wyatt that’s a big ‘IF’ when we’ve had around 8-9 races and they’ve consistently been out of the T20. I like KFB but if I had to put my money on a champ at this moment it would be the 24 then the 5.

Reply
Real King June 5, 2023 at 6:24 am

My championship 4 picks:
Kyle Busch
Kyle Larson
Ross Chastain
William Byron

Reply
Paul Clayborn June 5, 2023 at 3:25 am

It was awesome hearing all the cheers for Busch. Just goes to show how much many people hate JGR. And, how all drivers become more appreciated as they age.

Reply
Syed I. Ahmed June 5, 2023 at 3:34 am

I’d venture they hate Toyota even more. Sucks cause Toyota is my fav manufacturer out there with KFB being my fav driver being an exception. I hope 23XI takes it to JGR as a Toyota team eventually and LMC can make something of their Toyota switch.

Reply
Horror Buff June 5, 2023 at 3:49 am

Or they know that he was wronged by Joe Gibbs and they want to see him take it to them and win the championship this year. That would be the ultimate revenge for Kyle.

Reply
HuntyeahFTW June 5, 2023 at 3:54 am

I never understood the hatred for Toyota. I think it is really good to have foreign manufacturers in the sport. If we get a 4th one, I think it should be Honda. Nothing bothers me more than old fans talkin all “tHis is All AmErIcaN Spoert”

Reply
Herobrine Hoax June 5, 2023 at 4:07 am

@HuntyeahFTW Wait, the hate is because they aren’t American?

Reply
Austin Knapp June 5, 2023 at 4:10 am

@Herobrine Hoax That and the drivers they have on those teams like Hamlin, Bubba, Busch, Smoke Stewart have all been hated drivers so Toyota is overall just not a very well liked manufacturer among Nascar fans

UPDATE: Austin Dillon says he was wrecked intentionally and that Austin Cindric should be suspended next week.

After Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott incident does it every driver now when they get wrecked by accident by someone say they should get suspended?

Reply
Slowturtle 11 fan June 5, 2023 at 3:37 am

@DailySportsReport2017 he didn’t do it intentionally unlike cindric

Reply
Henri D. aka RKD June 5, 2023 at 3:38 am

@NASCAR the great Austin Dillon’s always been a bit of a baby when it comes to racing in the Cup series, swearing out his team members for minor things and wanting to wreck teammates when they don’t get out of his way. He’s a silver spoon kid even to this day.

Reply
Diane J June 5, 2023 at 3:39 am

Well, it worked for Denny Hamlin…

Reply
Michael Bell June 5, 2023 at 3:31 am

In Corey LaJoie’s defense, the whole Hendrick team struggles at Gateway. Only a pit strategy call saved Larson’s and Byron’s days.

Reply
Michael Rider June 5, 2023 at 3:43 am

Aside from the 24 having an issue with whatever set of tires they put on, they recovered well. Top 5 if that didn’t happen. The 5 definitely enjoyed cleaner air and adjustments as well. I think the 9 mirrored a bunk setup and they don’t have the communication to adjust.

Reply
Drew Brown June 5, 2023 at 3:46 am

Bryon went from 1st to 18th no pit strategy there just rebounded

KB showing why he’s one of the best nascar drivers of all time

Reply
Chris Strickland June 5, 2023 at 10:11 am

Other than the amount of championships I would argue he is the greatest driver ever because not even Richard Petty Jimmie Johnson or Dale Earnhardt won in 19 consecutive seasons. And honestly he’s going on 38. Another seven years possibly competitively. Honestly at the age of almost 38 he is the one of the best drivers in the field still. He could probably race another 10 years if he wanted to.

Reply
Mikael Haggard June 5, 2023 at 10:15 am

@Chris Strickland It’s hard to gauge these championships anymore the way they are setup.

Reply
Matt Hunter June 5, 2023 at 11:08 am

And a legit claim to the best restarter and Pit-entry driver the sport has ever seen.
This season reminds me more of ’08, the last time Kyle was running his first season on a different team.
I expect 6-8 total wins and a 3rd title collected based on how strong he was yesterday on a track similar to Phoenix.

K.B. is going to need a team mate who can consistently run up front with him to win anything important?
24,5,48& 9 ( once the nine gets his car cleaned out from the guano build up?)
K.B. won’t get any help?

I feel really bad for Stenhouse and Hocevar. Both could’ve very well gotten a Top 15 or even possibly a Top 10.

For those who were wondering the 48’s transmission broke on the last restart which caused him to lose all those spots.

I thought that it was the joke of the #23 ruining a very possible top 10 again for the second straight week

Reply

I figured something happened when he ran almost top 10-15 all day. FOX sucks for not covering that stuff though.

@Johnathon Chapman23 had a brake failure, not sure that was all Bubba’s fault.

Reply
Derek Rhodes June 5, 2023 at 6:27 am

Yea it’s strange, when he was at JGR I really didn’t like the guy. It’s controversial, but it was his attitude. Now that he’s at RCR, completely different guy and awesome to root for!

Reply
ChestPass87 June 5, 2023 at 7:30 am

These comments are hilarious. Y’all didn’t like him because you associate Toytota with snobs/outsiders/foreign. Now that he is a Chevy snob yall like him. Chevy fan IQ stuff.

Reply
Krapper June 5, 2023 at 7:31 am

I agree. I’ve never liked him. In fact, I used to strongly dislike him. But he’s become much more respectable and reasonable. He’s quickly becoming one of my more favorite drivers.. which is weird for me

I feel like Bell deserves an atta boy. Was one of the few guys making moves early on, only for his pit crew to do what the 20 crew normally does and lose like 10 spots. Then after overcoming that, he gets spun by Cindric. This put him around 30th with like 40 laps left at a track that was hard to pass. And he finished 11th. Not quite Larson levels of saving a day, but Bell prevented catastrophe as far as regular season points goes

Reply
Austin Knapp June 5, 2023 at 4:01 am

Larson was hanging with Busch but it was pretty clear who won I loved Brextons reaction in the box it was so adorable to watch. And Austin Dillon chasing down Austin Cindric as someone who’s name is Austin kinda makes me smile a little

Reply
Josh Patrick June 5, 2023 at 2:05 pm

It was seriously adorable. He’s trying to get Randall’s attention for a high five. He tapped on his arms multiple times before finally getting a hug and a high five lol

Reply
JRK June 5, 2023 at 4:18 am

The other thing on those brake failures is that for Gragson and Hocevar there were pieces that flew into the crowd. One guy got hit in the leg, but another guy got hit in the chest.

After the tire at Indy this isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it would still be terrible if that got someone’s eye or hit a child.

As a Die-hard Sébastien Vettel fan who watched the entirety of his career, I can firmly agree. The transition from Redbull to Ferrari in 2014/2015 did him so much good. I knew this would happen when Kyle Busch announced he was joining RCR/Chevrolet.

11:25 The replays very clearly show Chastain moving at most a few inches up as McDowell drives down as if there is nobody below him.

Reply
Nate Lecarde June 5, 2023 at 4:43 am

Honestly Carson’s debut kinda reminded me of Michael Schumacher’s first f1 race. He got a late call up and impressed greatly in the race (even out qualifying his teammate!) and would have finished much better if his car didn’t have issues. This won’t be the only time we see him in the cup series this year.
