Bad call by Nascar. Clearly it was the safer option and he did what he felt was safe. That should be INCENTIVE, not a penalty for it….
I don’t agree with the penalty being ruled as ‘”shortcutting” since Tyler never crossed the S/F line to advance a lap. But he did ‘backtrack’ to enter pit lane, so in this sense, the penalty is justified. Still he made the right call as to not manipulate the race outcome.
