I’m so happy they were able to make it to the checkered flag
Did have to change the transaxle at one point but I think they were off track for less than an hour despite having to do that repair
I love these more raw videos that arent 100% pre planned, very interesting to see your thought process
This was a huge moment not only for NASCAR, but for the whole country in general. I’ve haven’t seen casuals talk about NASCAR like this since the Newman crash in 2020. Big win for the sport!
Had a guy who never watched a race before hit me up this morning cause he knew I’m a race guy. It was awesome
@mikeyjudo That’s incredible! It’s truly amazing to see how a momentous event like NASCAR at Le Mans can capture the attention of not just die-hard fans, but also attract new enthusiasts. The fact that someone who had never watched a race reached out to you shows the impact this event had on the wider audience. It’s a testament to the growing popularity and influence of NASCAR. This “win” at Le Mans will undoubtedly generate more buzz and excitement for the sport moving forward. I’m thrilled to witness such a significant milestone for NASCAR and our country as a whole!
Any positive publicity is always welcome
I’m a car lover, and a casual nascar fan, and the amount of national pride I felt over the weekend cannot be understated.
Chastain at martinsville last year was pretty big too
Thanks Eric I’ve been asking all week so far what the G56 car means and haven’t gotten any responses by creditable people.
If ADAC will allow it, bringing the Garage 56 car to the Nurburgring 24 Hour next year would be cool, they’d probably win overall and it wouldn’t be close though.
They would get BOP’d to oblivion just like if they tried to enter the GTE class at Le Mans. They did right going with a G56 entry.
While they’re over there they should just go set a time at Nurburgring.
They fucked the Zakspeed Dodge Viper (which was modified to be a 6.4L V8 by removing two cylinders) by holding it in the pits for 45 minutes TWICE. Just imagine what they’d do to the G56 Camaro.
No, the Nurbergring is very tight, twisty, and narrow. GT3 cars being smaller with less power but with much stronger areo. For it to be competitive for top spot the NASCAR would need a wing atleast.
Maybe the electric/hybrid division should be nascar’s international series
Get a little bit more HP with hybrid, I was thinking the same thing.
Bro imagine seeing Cup cars do electric to gas startups WEC style.
That’s a great idea.
Yeah, that would be a great way to do electric/hybrid stuff without pissing a bunch of fans off.
Have an electric/hybrid for endurance racing, or maybe an entry into the Monaco GP possibly
Watching Le Mans and seeing the reactions from everyone made me realize something. I’d much rather try a international expansion then a U.S. expansion (ex: LA, Chicago, Portland). Chances are most sports fans in that region have already made their mind up about nascar so no point to make a massive push. Meanwhile a international expansion almost always means you can reach a wider audience who might not be familiar with it but will find it new and fascinating. 3-4 races on the schedule would be good. Anymore would be overkill.
I’d like to see them go to Toronto, Montreal or Mexico City. But that’s about it. I don’t think Europe is a winning strategy.
I think a couple areas in the us could still work (bring back Chicagoland, cup series in the Pacific NW, PPIS if that is ever possible again) and some other races in North America, but I don’t see any overseas races being profitable any time soon. (Also you can’t drive to South America, it’s functionally overseas)
Well if Shane Van Gisbergen and Brodie Kostecki can make a good impression, maybe NASCAR could do an exhibition race or something down under?
I think going global is a great thing for the sport. The sport definitely has the potential to appeal to fans outside the USA.
When the Nationwide Tour did their stint at Montreal, the racing was awesome. I am hoping they go back with Cup next year.
My favorite part was Robby Gordon’s shenanigans in ‘07
For a car not built for endurance racing, the fact they only had two mechanical failures is wildly impressive. Coming from a nascar fan going on 12 years following, I loved to see this
Nascar has international series in Canada, Mexico, Europe and now Brazil. I hope we see international races beyond North America if the right setting exist. When Nascar went to Japan in the 90s at Suzuka and Motegi, it attracted to Toyota (Already had the Celica in the Dash Series) to set up a full time run in mid 2000s and never look back since with the titles in cup, xfinity and truck series.
As a long time fan, it was a success seeing a cup car at lemans, it was engaging watching the race. I feel the Nascar brand isn’t as exposed as other series and with this past week it could boost interest in the sport. And I agree have new venues in new locations I’m from Southern California, which fontana was the closet race west coast races and international.
I’m definitely apprehensive about going international. But, with so many races on the schedule, there’s plenty of room for ONE international race a year. Whether that’s in Canada, Mexico, or overseas. And there would still be room to fit all the great tracks in the south.
Showing my age, but I remember when NASCAR went to Japan to the Twin Ring and Suzuka. My dad who was as old school as they come was excited to watch them. A lot of fans – that are older now – loved it. It brought a sense of pride. I loved it and still would. I think you’d see that again amongst a large part of the fanbase.
Now hear me out, I would absolutely love to see the G56 package as a stand alone road course package for the cup series. I know the next gen is meant to reduce costs and having a dedicated road car is counter to that, but I believe It would make for better, and more interesting racing. I also think that more manufacturers would be awesome.
I was at the le mans race, this car sounds intimidating roaring pass the stands & she flies through the corners like a bat out of hell. I was impressed with the corner speeds. I worked in nascar 12 years ago & the old setups would not be able to hold the car on the track the speeds they were carrying
As an Austrian i must say this G56 entry was very impressive and i really hope that NSACAR will go more international, because as an Austrian it’s hard to watch races on television its even hard to get diecasts or merchandise. So I hope that the G56 entry is the start of something big.
